Speaker 1 (00:00):
Caitlin from Clear Lakes. He's joining us here for what's
your wage today?
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Okay, what do you do for a living here, Caitlyn?
Speaker 3 (00:05):
I am a general manager at Jersey Mike Lucky.
Speaker 4 (00:10):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Oh, I have a lot of questions.
Speaker 4 (00:12):
Oh my gosh, do you eat a lot of sandwiches?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
That was one of my questions.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Uh, yes, actually a sandwich every day.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Do you ever get tired of eating sandwiches every day?
Speaker 5 (00:22):
No?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I can do sometimes like different combinations almost in a way,
and like switch some things up, so I kind of
can customize a little bit.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
You can experiment.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Caitlyn, how long have you been a general manager at
Jersey Mikes.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I have been a general manager for about one month,
but I've been with Jersey Mikes for almost two years.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Gotcha? What did it take to become a GM?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
A lot of training is the best way to put it.
I was a shift lead for probably about three months,
and then I was an AGM for about a year,
and then a GM for about month.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yet, dude, I love that.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
So you have to know everything that all your people know,
and you know that because you've done it, You've learned it.
This is the best way to climb to the top
as opposed to somebody coming in and being a GM
at well we're anywhere for that matter, and not really
knowing what everybody does for work.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
So you've done it, you've been immersed in it.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, Jersey Mix sometimes is kind of specific on how
they do things because you can't become a shift lead
without what's called phase one and which means you're certified
to know how to do all the management.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
How much of your job is actually making sandwiches and
how much of it is actually managing people that work there.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Can I guess fifty to fifty.
Speaker 6 (01:36):
I bet you she's got to go right to the
plate and do both because you have people calling it sick.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I do that every day all the time because I'm
one of the main slicers in my store. So while
I'm slicing, I have to make sure my grill person's
not overwhelmed, the person who is like topping the subs
isn't overwhelmed, my cashier's not messing up and not ringing
something in, and the person who does the online orders
on the back line making sure they're fine. So I'm
kind of bouncing around on top of housing customers when you're.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Making me nervous.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
The more you talk, I feel like I'm right in
there with you right now being a slicer.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
What is the best part of your job?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
It's just making customers happy.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Like a couple of times where I can tell some
people come in and they're sad, and I just try
to make them happy and make sure that they're and
they leave.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Jersey Mike's having a good day.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
That is so noble, That is so nice.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Which Jersey Mikes are you? I want to go to
that one. I mean, I'm sure they're all good. But
where are you? Are you in clear Lake? No? Where
are you?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
I'm in St. Paul.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Oh, you got a bit of a haul then, huh
it's busy.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Yeah, I don't mind the drive. It's kind of it's peaceful.
It's like my time of the day because I've got
a toddler too. Oh, so it's like my time of
the day where I'm like, I don't have any responsibilities
for this hour, and then well I'm the rest of
the day.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
I'm like, ah, sometimes.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
That drive is peace And what do you drive? If
I may ask, it helps me assemble in my brain.
What's your salary? May be he likes me. Well, she's
driving a Mercedes. I mean I'm gonna I'm gonna jack
it up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
No, I drive a Nissan Ultima.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
All those are sweetly the car. Well, I wanted to
ask one more question about your job. I was wondering,
what is what is the weirdest thing that's happened while
you're at work, or like the weirdest thing that someone's
ordered for their sandwich or something like that.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Oh, strange customer coming in, that kind of thing. I
know where she's.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Going with this. Come on your jersey, Mike's in Saint Paul.
You've had to have some.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Characters, right, I mean I get some people who want
me to chop up their meat and put it on
a sub.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Like in the tiny little pieces.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, I don't know how else to describe it, like
what's called a chop bowl. They want me to do that,
but put it on bread.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
I canna tell you it is the only male in
this room right now. That hurt as you said it.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
You don't like the phrase chop up meat.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
No, the way she said is I have somebody chop
I have to chop up their meat. They asked me
to chop up my knee and I go, that's just
we're not talking to Lorraino, Bob and everybody. We are
talking to Caitlin, who's a general manager for Jersey Mikes
in Saint Paul, who's now getting uh yeah, she's can
(04:15):
you like that idea?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Don't she? I am cringing in here right now.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Caitlyn, Next time that guy comes in, she's like, yeah,
I'll shop your meat. Caitlin, general manager of a Jersey
Mike's in Saint Paul.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
What's your wage?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
I make sixty thousand a year. On top of that,
as long as I manage like like the cogs, which
is cost of good souls versus cost of good views.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
As I manage my inventory really well, I get a
bonus every month.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Oh that's awesome.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
That is awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Good for you, and you've only been there a couple
of years.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Good job and you worked your way through the rank
sixty grand hecky, heck yeah, nice job, Caitlin.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Great to meet you.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, good to meet you guys too.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Oh I come in there and ask you to chop
my meat.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Christmas. I saw you would probably say no, what I
didn't hear that?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Nothing?
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Just leave that right, there. I have my legs crossed
profusely right now
