Speaker 1 (00:00):
And welcome to another episode of I Tell You What
Did you hear? The big news yesterday and the school
lockdowns up in Duluth. They're one of the public about
a mountain lion or a cougar, oh, that was spotted
in the city and the public's advised to never approach
wild animals. He was cautioned in their presence. They like
down a bunch of Duluth schools yesterday and wow, and
(00:22):
they want you to be on the lookout. So, I mean,
that's kind of freaky. I thought that they're pretty elusive cougars.
I didn't think that they I mean, I know, I
shouldn't say that. I thought maybe a little more shy.
I thought that they kind of stayed away from cities
and people and stuff. And I guess, and then I
was looking into it, I guess there's a little they
are a little bit more of a threat. I mean, obviously,
(00:43):
if they're shutting stuff down and all that kind of stuff.
So I asked, you know, all the powers that be,
are they dangerous being cougars? And they are large, powerful
predators that should be considered dangerous wild animals. Cougar attacks
are very rare. They're normally very solitary, elusive, generally avoid
(01:03):
human contact, but they can if they get into it
with you, it's it's it's pretty bad. However, an attack
from a cougar in the state of Minnesota, I also
looked up, is about as likely as being attacked by
a domestic dog or being killed by a lightning bolt,
so which sounds like two completely different things. A lot
easier to get attacked by a domestic dog, I guess,
(01:24):
but it depends on if you're looking for it or not.
But they, man, they are really cunning little animals here.
They are. Their behavior mimics their preise. So if you're running,
they're running. If you're jogging, they're jigging. They kind of
do what you're doing. So if you played dead, they
played dead. Well it doesn't say that, just like oh
a meal, I don't know them. I wouldn't try that one. Yeah,
(01:48):
if you're mountain biking, they're mountain biking. I mean, whatever
whatever you're doing, they're doing, they kind of mimic what
you're doing. They're they're typically a little smaller in size,
some can get a little bigger, so children are at
higher risks, so hence the lockdown of the schools up
in Duluth, which is crazy. Uh. They say you shouldn't
really be alone around at cougar you know, they'll take
(02:08):
you home. Well, then, what kind of cougar? What do you?
What do you on the lookout. We're gonna see some
of those cougars tonight. I got Yeah, we're doing a
food drive at the luckout. Cougars, come out, bring your cougar.
Just as long as you bring food, we don't care. No.
(02:31):
If you're a loan you're supposed to kind of watch it.
You should travel in groups. I'm not supposed to get
into their habitat. But it looks like this cougar is
getting into our habitat up there in Duluth. But one
little cougar shutting down all these schools up there in
Uh in Duluth. They get kind of aggressive, obviously if
they have their I guess they're little their little kugets around,
their little kittens, kitten cougars or whatever. Yeah, whatever, whatever
(02:53):
they may be. I'm trying to speak just kind of
a lamer's term here. I don't know, it doesn't actually
that word doesn't pop up. I think I think they're
a little kid. Yeah, I guess. So. Yeah, hiking groups,
you're supposed to make noise. It's just like a bear
supposed to It's kind of like the same thing when
you're when you're walking around in the woods, like when
they spot these bears in Elm Creek and Maple Grove.
(03:14):
You're supposed to make noise, supposed to be loud, You're
supposed to be like, get away bear, back up off. Yeah,
they don't like that, that human voice. I think that
kind of freaks them out a little bit. You're supposed
to kind of do the same thing with the cougar,
and you're not supposed to run from them, as they'll
chase you. I mean, they're predators. And if you can,
I guess, make eye contact. So everything they say, you
might get away from them, stay away from the same time.
(03:35):
I guess if they get too close, turn around and say,
let's go, my guy, Come on, a little cougar, you're
supposed to shout firmly and loudly throw objects at it.
That sounds like a piss it off for real. If
it's mimicking what I'm doing, yeah, you can throw stuff
(03:56):
back at you. If it's a mimicker, yeah, sticks, whatever,
throw it at I just I don't know if I
is that what you really want to do? I wouldn't.
In the end, it says fight back aggressively. If if
a cougar attacks, fight back aggressively. People have successfully driven
off cougars using anything available, including bare hands. Dude, it
(04:20):
pays to like no martial arts with these things. Yeah,
I guess so if. I mean, but if they're attacking me,
I think that's if it gets to that, you know,
I mean, like, don't they have like strong Joe jaws?
Do they get claws? Yeah? I don't know. That's hot.
I hope I run into that cougar. So that's what's
(04:44):
happening in Duluth. So they locked down the schools for
that little cougar. Everybody be careful. That's just crazy. Yeah,
I could see why, because you don't want to be
the school to have to call somebody's parents be like, hey,
they don't worry, they're fine. They just gotten toled with
that cougar. Yeah, and then everyone's gonna think it's the
vice principal. That's another story. That's a nasty that. I
don't know what's worse, you know. Yeah, Yeah, So if
(05:07):
you're in the dilute. Thereya listening to the dilute Theory,
be on the lookout for the cougar. They say that
this cougar came from Nebraska. Tell you to know Nebraska.
They ask, I have no idea. Must be the accent.
I don't know Nebraska cougar. Does Nebraska have an accent?
Was it wearing a big end? Does it have a
corn Husker head on it? Did they come from like
the Nebraska? Do it broke out? It's like I need
to find my cousin Terry. Could be I have no idea,
(05:29):
So everybody look out for the cougar. And thanks for
