Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to another episode of I Tell you what I've
always wanted to do this. I pulled over a cop
this morning. You pulled over, Yes, right by four ninety
four and an on ramp. I won't tell you where.
I pulled over a cop and I rolled down the
window and I said, thanks for all that you do.
And she turned her head looked rather quizzical at me,
(00:22):
like h and then she said like something to the
fact of okay, or you know you're walking. And I said,
I do mornings on Kiyoo two and we love you guys.
Thanks for you know, protecting us and doing all the things. Yeah,
you know, I'm paraphrasing. I don't remember exactly what I said.
It was, you know, three fifty four o'clock in the
morning or something. She goes, oh, so you us be
on your way to work. Her name is Crystal, So
(00:43):
give it up for Crystal Maple Grove Police Department. I said,
I'll give you a little shout out unless you don't
want that. You know, not everybody wants a shout out. Yeah,
but she's Crystal, and I sai, Hi, Crystal. I'm Chris,
and I worked for k Onical two in the morning.
She goes, oh, well, thank you for everything that you
guys do for us. Again I'm paraphrasing, she said something
along the lines of that, you know, for you know whatever, whatever,
she said, thanks for everything you do. And then I
(01:05):
but I started with the thank yous, and then I
said you're welcome. So I should have came back and
said thanks for all you do again, because it's really
not anything that we do. It's all about what our
first responders do. Yeah, And it reminded me of you know,
who's going to be still in place down in Florida.
This is a perfect example what our first responders do
when it comes to what's going on in Florida right now,
and with a Hurricane Milton coming up, and as you
(01:26):
just saw with Hurricane Helene coming in and mowing over
a good chunk of the southeast, who's still there trying
to help everybody? The first responders. So I mean, sometimes
I know, these stories come out and there's a there's
a bad egg in the batch, right, and then everybody
gets blamed for stuff. It's like, no, these people are
laying on the line, They're laying their lives on the line,
and we've they've proven that over and over and down
(01:47):
in Florida. There's people just like Crystal that are sitting
there knowing what's coming, and they're trying to get people out.
I heard the saddest story on the way in this morning,
and I hate to start the show this way, but
I just want to tell you this. There's a cop
who's on the air on a news station down in
Florida and his he was just beside himself because he
couldn't get an eighty five year old woman out of
(02:09):
her trailer. She was not going to leave her home.
She has the right to stay, so maybe she just
wants to Maybe this is just she know, she feels
that this is her end, and she's okay with it.
Maybe she just feels like, I'm just going to hunk
her down. But this cop was just mortified it in tears,
like I just couldn't get you know, And I don't know.
Maybe in the end they did.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I don't know. It's just the SoundBite that I heard.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
You know, I would I was waiting for the you know,
but in the end, you know, he was able to
convince her, but I didn't hear that, you know. So
this is just the clip that they played I mean,
and that's got to be absolutely heart wrenching when you
see somebody that could be like your mom or your
grandmother and you just know what's coming. Because this is
going to be an awful storm. And our first responders
are down there, you know, they probably sit off shore
(02:52):
a little bit. I mean, they have to be safe
too to be able to help you. And because there's
still going to be people down there and government officials
and first responders probably helping other first responders, because we
civilians got to get the hell out. We put these
people their lives in jeopardy by being there. You know, Sorry,
I'm getting bitchy on the air, but no, they need
(03:13):
to everybody.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
People need to get out, man, go I know, and
you've got time. Hurricanes give you, for the most part,
a real strong warning of a few days. Don't put
anybody else's lives in jeopardy, and certainly don't put your
own life in jeopardy. Get out and go where they
tell you to go.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, it's not a trap, no, not at all.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
And it's making landfall today and so we'll just have
to see how it all plays out. But hopefully this
storm loses as much strength as possible as it does
as it hits landfall.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, but man, what a what a bad situation.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
But you're right, I mean, how thankful are we for
our first responders from all the different states all around
the country that are all responding and heading down there
to help because they're gonna need it.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Well there, I saw Crystal this morning Maple Grove Police,
you know, on an on ramp right and just you know,
they don't know what their day is going to bring
every day. Yeah, and all of a sudden, this freak
pulls up in a pickup truck rolling a window down.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
You know what I mean. I didn't even think about
that for a second.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I just want to say thanks forli And you know,
when I left him, like you bonehead, And I didn't
turn my dome light on to really show you. I
was retracing everything, going, what are you asking for it?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
You know what I look like.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I don't know. I just I could have been a
little less intimidating problem.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
She was just chill, she just like hey, I'm like, hey,
I'm Chris rhic cable to just wanting you know, I
got that all right, Oway. I just want to thank
you for everything. That you do, and she's she was
just really awesome and smiling and whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
I'm like, okay, go.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Get do what you gotta do your job, and you
don't pull me over on the on ramp. I pulled
away slowly, like I just got pulled over, like I
did something wrong. And you know, if you get pulled
over from a cop, I know, it's never happened with you.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Sam, You're perfect.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
I've been pulled over. You have why I just got
but I just got warnings.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Thankfully, you suck. You never happens to me. I know,
like two miles.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's like, yeah, it's not like it's end of the month, man,
it's the end of the month. I gotta I gotta
write you up. We gotta pay some bills here.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, I think it's happened a couple of times, but
it's been years.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
What do you do? Cry?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
No? No, no, I know.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
The only reason I ask is because you can cry
on command. And if I had that superpower, I would
do that too.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Be like no, I'm not using it for evil, and.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I let's getting out of a ticket. That's angelic.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
No, the times that has happened, I've been speeding a
little bit too much, and I just but I'm super
genuine with them.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I'm like, I get it.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
I was like, I just realized that I was going
a little too fast and I know you're just doing
your job and I'm really really sorry, and hold on,
I'm ready to straight forward.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, what did she say? What was that?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Did you're a little too fast? Did you say did
they say you're going a little too fast? Who said that?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Go back?
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I want to get this down because they put this time,
I'm gonna put my windshield. No, because they because they
always ask like do you know why I pulled you over?
Speaker 2 (05:57):
And then I usually say because I'm ugly.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
A lot of people will say, Okay, that's funny. Maybe
say that.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Then they just go get the thing and go okay,
where you are? No?
Speaker 4 (06:08):
And then and then I'm uh, and I don't know
they ask, and I think a lot of people say, like,
you're supposed to not really say anything or something, I
don't know you.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I think it's wise to say something, well, no, I.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Just mean like to play dumb, like you don't know
why you got pulled over? And I'll be like, I
just really when it's happened, I'll say I honestly didn't
realize how fast I was going until I started something stopped. Honest,
you guys, just be honest and genuine didn't They're just
people jobs.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Get there doing your job. Oh my gosh, it's.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Called well, that's to have the line ready.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
No, it's not a line.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
There's no lines that sounded rehearsed. Your not it's not again.
I'm sorry, I didn't know how fast.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Hi.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I'm ugly. That's it's not hay Hi okay.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Well, thank you to all of our first responders. I
know a lot of you listened to us up before
God early in the morning, before six. We encourage you
to listen throughout the whole course of the morning show too,
