Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to another episode of I Tell you what. I
am so tired. I know that's going to make for
a great broadcast. But thank god I've got Gretchen with me.
Good morning, everybody bailing, people having babies, going on vacation,
and I got my Gretch. Does everybody remember Gretch talk
back on the iHeartRadio app Let's go Gretchen is She
(00:23):
works for Saint jud Children's Research Hospital and we make
the most wonderful radio together every year doing that radiothon.
And here you are. You been filling in? This is
all hat to you. You just came in fill in.
It's just a little early, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Oh gosh, Chris, it's really early. Two fifty am. Came
really early this morning.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Oh that's right. You got to drive down from don't Daluth?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yes, Daluth, I was on the road.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
No.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm super excited to be here. Thank you for asking me.
I the last time I was here, I feel like
I lost my words when you put the microphone in
front of my face.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
But not today.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Today it's me and you, the new dynamic duo apparently
of morning radio. So at least for the next few days.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
So everybody wants to know right away Sam. What's up
with Sam? As far as I know, no baby yet.
I talked her on the phone extensively last night, and
I don't know of anything going on with that unless
something changed. I also she said, I'll text you immediately
when stuff's going I'm like, you know, I don't know
if I'm your first priority, but yes, as a matter
(01:18):
of fact, if you find a way to do that,
that would be good because everybody's really wanting to know
what's going on with her and when that child's coming out.
I can say this first and foremost thank you to
the most wonderful audience in the world, Western Wisconsin, Minnesota
for sending us down to Cmas. It was just a
wonderful trip. It would have been so much better, yes,
if Sam would have been there, But at the same time,
(01:40):
I have to say, given the circumstances, it would not
have been I am honest to God, one hundred percent
sure that it would not have been a good scene.
I don't think it would have been comfortable for her
to be down there at all, and I'm convinced that
she probably would have given birth an unfamiliar territory had
she gone. The amount of walking and every thing as
(02:01):
great as we retreated, we'd have to get her a wheelchair.
There's some areas where we just did different, different functions
and if she wanted to be a part of it,
we'd have to wheel her out the step. Well, she
could do steps and stuff, but there just would have
been so much athletic work convolved.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And at forty weeks in one day pregnant, I mean,
that's a lot. I mean, a great story to tell,
but I really am Yeah, a great story.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
But I don't think it would have been a wonderful
experience forty eight seventy two hours, thirty six hours or whatever,
because I mean then she'd have to be down there
for a while. I think it'd be more expensive. You
don't know what the insurance thing is and all that
kind of stuff, and I know there are urgencies. I mean,
she had a lot of stuff mapped out if she
was going to go, and she was going right up
to the last minute. But I don't know if you
guys saw it and we posted it, it's all over
(02:46):
the Campical two Socials and Chris carrn Company page. But
we did bring her with us and we had this
picture and a picture of Sam. She's right by my heart,
and it's in the mass shot of all the broadcast winners,
and that it's on a lot of the other pictures
that we took while we were down there. We took
her everywhere we went, so Sam was really with us
(03:07):
everywhere we went when it came to Award show night,
and that really moved her, which was really cool. She
was pretty emotional. I guess that night she saw those pictures.
I think she was expecting that. We kind of kept
it as a surprise.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
No, that's awesome. I mean, good for you guys. I
mean it was on primetime television. I saw the big
picture while I was watching it the other night, and
there you all were, and it was really cool to see.
I was very proud to know you all in that moment.
But pudos to you guys. Congratulations. You guys are just
so deserving.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Thank you, thank you for saying absolutely. But again, it's
it's the audience that does this, and it's your work, Gretchen,
and everything that we do with Saint Jude and that
big amount of massive amount of care that is put
together from this audience to Saint jud Children's Research Hospital.
I should refresh everyone. Yeah, Gretchen works are Saint Jude.
That's her real job. This is just she just coming in.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
It's my real job. I'll go to the Haness later today.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Are you really no?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I'm going to go home.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Oh God. Office is right down the street.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
It's literally next to her.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Be nice and convenience.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
It's Friday.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
But it was. It was just a glorious trip. It
was a very tiring trip. But the amount of parties
and everything for Sam to be there, I think we've
been asking way too much because she would have wanted
to go to everything, not to saying that she had to,
but she would have wanted to be a part of
all the action. That's why you go down there, all
the pre parties, the post parties, all the stuff. And
I just think it was a really a really good
move not to go now. To get her picture on
(04:27):
the TV was a kind of a subtle interesting story
is they didn't look like maybe they I don't know
if they necessarily took exception to it or anything, but
the ABC camera guy, it was kind of like, what's
going on with this? And I've made a reference almost
like she passed, but I know I just kind of like, well,
(04:57):
she's not really with the right.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I mean, let me clarify, she's back home ready to
give Burton.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
I never really said words no, I just kind of
said she's she she just couldn't she just she couldn't
make it.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Fortunately, she couldn't make it. Just shy okay, exception made.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I had to look down on my face like please,
so well there, and I had to kind of keep
it below the trophy. Lon Helton, the national guy, whatever
he wanted. He's a great dude, and I just kind
of kept it below the trophy, make sure it wasn't
covering anything up. You know. It's just like here's here's
Sam just gonna so funny.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
But no for you guys to bring her along. And
I will say, Sam, if you are listening, I have
been so impressed. Pregnancy has not slowed you down down
at all. The fact that you were in the deer
stand over the weekend, I was like, who is this girl? Like,
oh my gosh, I'm like so impressive.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I mean you and she shot a deer.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yes, and you are the cutest at forty weeks in
two days pregnant.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Careful now that's ah okay.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Well girl, the girl you have not let it slowed
you down. Congratulations whenever baby comes due.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Two hundred eighty yards away from that buck pregnant honestly
one shot.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Boom, Yeah, good for her.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Good like what sack of cement?
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah yeah, good for her.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, she can't be here today. It's funny. You could
go out there, sit in the deer stand. You can't
come in do your dog radio job. Had she gone
to CMAS and didn't show up today, then I would
have been like, all right, what the hell?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah, well maybe she would have had the baby by then, Chris.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
She well, that's true. She like I said, if she
went down there, she probably absolutely would have would have
given birth. But hey man, it's great to have you.
Thanks for coming at Thanks for having me. You and I.
This is just like a conversation on the phone, except
it's gonna be I trust me talking to you listening.
It's gonna be a lot shorter than those conversations. Gretchen
and I. The reason she's in here, she and I
(06:52):
just cannot get off the phone together.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
We really like to talk on the phone.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
We My wife's like it's either gretching or Sam scretching.
This time. This goes on and on and on, but it.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Does, it does. But we never lack conversation, Chris.
