Speaker 1 (00:00):
Who's the special guest in this edition of I Tell
you what, Charlie Barns. How you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm good? Are you guys doing good? Great?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Dude, we've we have a fib in the room. I
thought i'd tell you that before we get started.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Oh no, oh yeah, how do you do that?

Speaker 1 (00:18):
How did you do that? Doves? Doves? Uh? He's really
rich in the land of fibness too. I mean right
in the heart of Southern Chicago. I mean it just
doesn't get more fibb than that.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
So, oh my gosh, yeah, Southern Chicago. It's what you
just said.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeahscon I love him.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's a Socks fan.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Is that Cubbies?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh that's all right, see a guy. It was fun.
It was real fun. That's okay. You know what we need.
It's the ying to our yang. We need it, exactly
need it. We feed off of it. You know.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
I think he's more the yangs.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I don't know what that means, but I do have
a visual in my head right now.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
So good. So, like you're coming to town January thirtieth
and thirty first, and right right after you leave here,
you're going to San Diego a few days later. I mean, boy,
you're it's like you're just polarizing all over the place.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I know, I know, I don't know. That's going to
be a real shock to the system there, but you know,
that'll be fun. It's always it's always a good time.
I getting out there, and kind of anywhere I go,
there's a lot of Midwesterners, So even Fibbs, there's Fibbs
there too, and they get in the arguments.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yes, FIBs everywhere. Do you notice a really big difference
between the audience in the Midwest and how they react
to you? And then the first is an audience.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Like that's a good question. I mean because I thought
the same thing. I was like, oh, they you know,
because look I started doing stand uplant wasn't doing the
Midwest stuff, and you know, so I can always I
got other kind of material for whatever situation pops up.
But one thing you realize is a a lot of

(02:11):
the jokes are from a Midwest guy's perspective, so everyone
kind of can understand where I'm coming from. But the
other thing is Midwest people when they leave the Midwest,
you know, they like gather together. Yeah, there's like packers
bars in San Diego. There are some Bears bars too, unfortunately,

(02:32):
but like I don't know what it is. We go
away not to meet new people, we go away to
find each other again. So that's that's kind of what
my shows are in a lot of ways, which it's
almost like a meetup, like a one of those mobile
what do you call it, Like it's like a pop
up Packers bars.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, you know, that's awesome. I lived out on the
East Coast to live down south, and I couldn't find
a brought anywhere, and people didn't know what I was
talking about back in the day. And now you can
freaking get them like anywhere, you know. So it's but
you do feel you feel kind of lost as an
Upper Midwesterner. But then you find out we are. We're
like parasites. It just takes a Packers football game and

(03:15):
we just invade stadium and we just wait for Charmie
Barris to show.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Up, you know, yes, and and all the the you know,
all the teams are like, oh no, there's a culture
of them right there, you know. And then and then
I see that, I see the cheese had this an infection,
you know, and we do. We infect the stadiums you
like when we were playing the Steelers, you know they

(03:39):
could hear Goldpack go throughout the whole game. Yeah, that's
our deal.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
And we know here in Minnesota, when everyone's wearing orange,
we know who's here. I mean it's like they deer
hunt here too, but they never wear it to Vikings games.
But all Green Bay fans, many those orange hats are
just freaking everywhere, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, And and you can always tell the real ones
because they got just just a few drops of blood
on there from either the deer or their finger one
of them.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Sure, or it's hanging just below their Wisconsin license played
on a rack outside the US Bank Stadium. Hey, so
Whiskey old Fashions or Brandy old fashions being a true
Wisconsin Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
I gotta go with the Brandy old fashions for sure.
You know. That's that's kind of been our tried and
true down here. A lot of people don't like brandy
old fashions, but that's okay. You know a lot of
people don't like what's good for them.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
So do you have your own brand yet, Charlie?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Sure do. Actually, it's called Baron's Old Fashioned Brandy. It's
not named after me though, it's not. That would be egoistical.
I named it after my grandpa Bob, and I can't
help it. We got the same last name.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
To get it? Is it? Is it good? Like? Is it? Honestly?
Is it good? Does a big Wisconsin bite to it?
Does it get you there faster than other old fashions?
If you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah? Everything. I mean it's ninety proof. It's ninety proof. Okay,
so it's going to light you up like a Polish church. Yeah, yeah,
there you go. I didn't know he's Polish. Too good
for him, Charlie.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Where are you from in Wisconsin?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'm from. Are you how familiar are you with the Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Area from the weather radar? I know the town's like
Brookfield and stuff, Waukeshaw, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, sure, so New Berlin, which is like aw, it's
a one for town like New Berlin. It's by Milwaukee,
you knows, as opposed to kind of like a two
for town like Delafield. It's it's kind of over by
oconom Milwauk, which is over by Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Do you have a favorite town in Wisconsin?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Manswok is really nice, you know, I mean Manslock really
embraced the mantluck minute when I put it out, which
you know, they didn't have to, and I thought that
was really nice. And I've since got to know that
city and I think it's it's a really, really underbraded town.
I'll tell you that much. I mean Lake Michigan, you know,
you guys, I gotta tell you, the west coast of

(06:15):
Lake Michigan is one of the most beautiful places you can.
You can surf there if you have a couple old
fashions on the right day, when the sun hits right,
it looks like an ocean. You know, you got to
get over there. We got some good spots.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
It's for the invented shrinkage is right there.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, yes, sir, Well, we want to see you.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
I know we're running out of time, my gush. I mean,
you got a schedule like fricking Garth Brooks here. I
know you got to go, but State Theater January thirtieth
and thirty first, and your show is really obviously we
are We're all gonna get it this one here. You
don't have to explain anything, right because it's just you're
just an Upper Midwesterner chatting for oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Yeah, we'll I'll chit chat for about an hour, but no,
it's gonna be a fun show. I'm looking forward to Minneapolis.
We always have some of our best shows up there.
You know, you guys get it, and it's gonna be fun.
And we'll see what the Vikings do this year and
how we can incorporate that into the mix, because I

(07:19):
think that would be a very important dynamic too.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
So well, don't tell Minneapolis. Make sure to wear your
blaze orange so you don't get shot. Actually, don't wear it.
I've been following you for years, Charlie. You're a lot
of fun. And if you need anything, honestly from our show,
whatever you need, if you want to call in before

(07:43):
your show coming up, you get the number.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh, thank you so much. I really appreciate that, you guys.
And yeah, if you need any tickets or anything, you
let me know that too.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
All right, Yeah, can you get me tickets to the packers? Good?

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah, I can't. I can get you those tickets. It's yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I got this key lock deal, this sort of
key picking thing and uh for a lock. And there's
this one door on the back of the stadium that
I know how to get into pretty good. You just
got to meet me right before.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Okay, that's what Russell Nikolay said to me last week.
So that's we do. Appreciate you in all honesty and thanks.
Thanks for checking in, Charlie.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Thank you guys. We'll see you soon, all right.
