(00:00):
All right, let's talk to somebodywho's just fun. He's got one of

(00:02):
the best songs I ever written,in my opinion, that you may not
really know about. But we're gonnachange that here in a second in this
episode, though, tell you what, Larry Fleet. All right, Larry
dude, what's going on? Iheard that you're coming to town. Oh
yeah, looking forward to dude, right before the snow flies. You know
how to time this stuff in yourmusic video earned it. I gotta say,

(00:27):
I was really looking forward to seeingyou, but you were completely upstaged.
Your little ones seemed to have stolenthe show. Do they have some
musical interests? Oh yeah, they'rethe they're the stars. Anytime a camera
comes out, it's like, okay, it's it's a dance time, you
know. And Raylan, my littleboy, he's for he uh, he's

(00:47):
got a guitar mandolin. He wantsto be a drummer. So like in
the band my my drummer. Hisname is Cam and like Cam is Lake
Cooper than me, and so youknow, you want to be like me.
He's like, now I'll be likeCamps Dad. Yeah, I'm just
dad. I'm like not very cool. And then Uh, Stella, she's

(01:10):
a. She's more of the dancerand she likes to sing. She can
actually when she's two years old andshe can sing melodies already, So like,
that's pretty cool. So she gotsome backup singers and players coming out
with you. Now I know she'sa. She was dressed like Landy Wilson
the other I played the Rhymen inNashville. She come out, had her
bell bottom zone and she was doingit up. I was like, Okay,

(01:33):
Landy Wilson Junior, get her signed, right, I'm telling her,
yeah, yeah, what are theages two and four? Stella's two and
Whitland's fourth. So you're you doyou do to have another one? Do
you do it? Huh? No, I think we're done. You can't
live up to your last name unlessyou have more kids you need well I

(01:56):
know well that, but you knowhow hard of you is got a cracker
brown? Get a table for five? You know what I mean? Like?
Or is the you gotta keep aneven number? Well, Laria saw
pictures and videos that you've posted oflittle Whalen and his pony, Marshmallow,
and they're so cute. Does doesStella have any interest in the horses too,
even though she's I know she's little, but well, Marshmallow will will

(02:21):
send be hers because we got Iguess we got Marshmallow whenever Whyland was about
too. And he's got this tinylittle saddle and it can you know,
he can ride and call Marshmallow andbut it's like a mini like Shetland pony
and it things. I gotta blood, how Melvin, he's bigger than the
horse, you know. So,uh, it's it's it's a lot of

(02:42):
fun. They love it. Stellais kind of like getting into it.
I mean, I think she likesit, but it's hard to say.
Really, she's kind of she's mygirly girl. I mean she really just
she likes hanging out and dealing withwhat brother does. But she got and
showed a ton of interest in ityet, So we'll see. We'll see.
Hang Whalen looks like quite the littlecowboy. He definitely looks the part

(03:02):
at least. Oh yeah, hewants to be a cowboy drummer, like
that's all he cares about. Hewants to ride bulls every night. We
get out here and he's like,we have to do the rodeo every night.
So they get bathtime and they're getin the living room, they're like
okay, and he'll like shake hishead at me and I'm like go and
then he like acts like he's ona bull around the living room. So

(03:23):
we did that every night. Weplayed rodeo. And I mean he goes
to horse shows and I mean withmy wife rides horses and stuff. So
but all the time into horses andhe absolutely loves it. So he's definitely
a cowboy. Sam Sam sandsvir hereis salivating, right. She is a
horse freak. She grew up ona horse farm. Still as horses all

(03:46):
around her. If you haven't beenable to tell miss Rodeo Queen Minnesota and
all that kind of stuff, yourwife should kill if she comes up on
the twenty eight, You guys shouldget together and go. You know,
you wouldn't his wife. Maybe hecould go riding that kind of stuff.
Yeah, they'd be a blast.Yeah, that'd be awesome. We actually
another time we were up there thissummer and we actually really like it up
there, and we were actually lookingat were actually actually likes it up there.

(04:13):
People are always surprised when we havewarm weather. Yeah all right,
well you said it was beautiful.Well you said this record straight. I
heard a rumor that it was JakeOwen that discovered you because you were doing
wedding covers or a wedding musician atthe time. Yeah. Well, hey,
if anybody had a few hundred bucks, I could do just about anything.
So they they I got hired togo to somebody's house one time and

(04:39):
uh and do. Yeah, itwas like a wedding reception type thing.
They just pretty much, you know, people drinking beer and want me to
come and sing some songs. SoI go over there and sure enough,
like out of't know where, JakeOwen knows somebody there and shows up to
the did the little party and I'msitting there playing shut that I'd written because

(05:00):
I've been a songwriter for a longtime. But I was playing my stuff
and a lot of Meryl Haggard songs, and he was like he loves Merle
Haggard too. So we get totalking and he's like, man, you're
too good to be playing in abarn for a winning you know, like
you need there. What do youdo? Like he thought I'd already had
some kind of deal. I waslike, now I'm gonna pour concrete for
a living. I just do thisto make a little you know, I

(05:21):
need some tires for my truck.Kind of makes an extra money. Yeah,
He's like, man, you needto quit your job and long story
story, quit your job and tryto do this. And I said,
well, take me on the roadwith you and we'll see what happens.
And sure enough he did, andthen here we are now, so you
got started, dude, if you, like your wife could go horseback riding

(05:44):
with Sam and I could use youto come over and maybe do a little
concrete work if you still got itin you. I mean, yeah,
you need a slab. I needone slab that my like, my wife
broke. She drove over it partof the and it wasn't Rebard. And
I need Larry Fleet, dude,he'ld me continue the stardom thing. That's
all great, we're happy for you. But if you got just a little
bit left on how to make itmakes a little concrete for me, that'd

(06:08):
be so awesome. I still gotit in it. My dad, actually,
my whole family has done concrete works. My dad actually he runs Nashville
Ready Mix here in Nashville, anduh so it's it's it's kind of in
our blood. And we actually hadsomebody out here. I don't have time
to I'm always gone, you know, but we had to get some concrete
work done and I just happen tobe here. My wife's like, leave
them alone, let them do theirjob. I'm like out here, like

(06:30):
hold on now. Yeah, LikeI'm like, I don't know about that,
And so it's still in me.I still got it. That's where
the song Where I Find God camefrom. Is Larry looked at a piece
of his concrete and it was Jesus. Jesus was in the kind isn't that
where I came from. I've beenI've seen his face right there and some
concrete and I was like, no, I mean you know that what Actually

(06:54):
that song has been the one thathas has really done it for me.
And it's funny because I used togo out and play all over the place,
even when I started going with Jakeand stuff, and I had some
songs like working band, different thingsthat kind of you know, got people
excited. But whenever that's when WhereI Find Guy come out. It completely
changed everything. And now, Imean, you may not people may not

(07:16):
know who I am when I comeout on the stage. But then they
know that song. And it's beenkind of cool because I was out with
Parker McCom earlier this year and ora lot this year and we go out
in front of ten twenty thousand peopleand I'd sing it and lights would come
out. Everybody in the crowd wouldsing that song, and I was like,
man, so that's really the onethat really got my career going.

(07:38):
Well. It is one of thegreatest songs I've heard that I just would
love to see more people exposed toit. And this is coming from a
guy out a radio station. That'swhere you gotta make me more, make
me music director for a day.Yeah, yeah, I mean seriously,
it is. I mean I rememberhearing it my boss's office. This was
a few months back and just thinking, day, that's damn good, dude,

(08:01):
Oh thank you that. I wasproud to be a part of that
one for sure. And you know, we wrote that song and uh,
first time I ever met Connie Harington, we wrote that song. We sat
down, we met, We're like, hey, how are you doing,
And then we had a cup ofcoffee and two hours later we wrote where
I Find Got so Uh, itactually just kind of pour it out.
It was an easy one to write, and I live it all the time,

(08:26):
and so that was kind of aIt was an easy one because it
was a true true thing for meand and Connie too, So you know,
it just worked out good. Youshould come up with a sequel where
I lost the devil. Yeah, yeah, okay, left him in the
dusty behind the bar somewhere, youknow what I mean. Yeah, yeah,
I don't know. Together Devil inthe dust. I like it,

(08:48):
and we can do that one song. This is all songs are born right
