Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to a most special edition of I Tell You What.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning?
Speaker 3 (00:04):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's up? Tim?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm just hanging out with a bunch of legends this morning,
so I'm like a kid in the candy store. I'm
going to ask for autographs when we get done.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Dude, it sounds like it. You got. It's like a
room full of guys.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I know it, man, I know. It's different than my house.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
I heard that.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, we got Cody, we got we got Cole, we
got Tim, we got Patrick, we got you know, the
like royalty of Rodeo here with us and to talk
about the music city Rodeo and and all that it's
bringing to Nashville and how exciting it is and how
big of a deal it is.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Are you all uh sipping out of drinks with paper umbrellas?
Did you like that? Seguay? How is that that work?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
That's pretty good. That's pretty good. You're getting there, Thank you.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I've been doing this for a few years. I'm trying
to figure it out, you know. Tell us a little
bit about the new song before we get to your
your all your teammates in there too.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, I mean it's been around for a while. You know.
This song was on the Standing Room on the album,
and it was always one of my favorite records on
the album. It really reminded me of the music I
was making early in my career when I first moved
to town. Certainly reminded me of a lot of George
Strait with who everybody was. And then when we decided
to pick a single, I wanted to go with that
and I wanted to put somebody else on it because
(01:14):
it had been on the album for a while, and
I love what Parker's doing, and I thought his voice
would fit perfectly on it, and we sent it over
to him to see if he would like it and
be willing to put a vocal down on it. And
he loved it and went in the studio and laid
his vocal down and it turned out beautifully and set
the kid out saying me, that's the only problem.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
The other of the day.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It turned out great, and we were happy to have
him on board and just really loved how the record
turned out, and thank you guys for playing it.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
He's so humble and kind. Yeah, seriously, just like be
a song or something. You got Patrick Humes, you've got
Tim O'Connell, You got call Rider. I mean, you got
Cody Custer, you got this rodeo royalty in there, and
we have rodeo royalty here Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
What were you saying? In twenty twenty so I was.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Miss Rodeo of Minnesota and twenty twenty one so I
got to go to the I mean I went to
the NFR that yere competed for Miss Rodeo America. And
I'm geeking out right now because Tim, Tim McGraw, I know,
we have a couple tims on right now. I geek
out whenever I talk to you, but now I'm like
super geeking out because I get to talk to cowboys
that I've always admired and my brothers admired because my
family rodeos too. I've got brothers that do saddle bronc
(02:20):
and then I've got a sister that barrel races. So
Tim mcraw, I have to know, I mean, how did
you how did you get involved with Music City Rodeo?
And Pat maybe you can kind of weigh in on
that too, because I know that you're the founder of it. Essentially.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, I'll let Pat take it from there because he's
he's way more knowledgeable.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Than I am.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 6 (02:41):
Yeah, we just when we got into Nashville and looked around.
I moved here three and a half years ago, and
I looked in the city and they didn't have a
major PRC at rodeo. So I reached out to a
lot of my contacts back from the rodeo days and
looked at bringing one here, and everybody jumped on board.
And we reached out to Tim McGraw and and Tim
graciously jumped on board. He was really excited about it
(03:04):
and helped us bring this radio to life.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
So is is Tim gonna like compete at the rodeo? Yeah,
because that's kind of the big draw from what I'm thinking,
you know what I mean, that's like, that's what people
would really. I mean, they go for all you guys too,
don't get me wrong, but that'd be something to see,
you know, going eight seconds there, Tim, what's the deal there?
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
My eight seconds? I don't think. I don't think I
can do anything for eight.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
That's that's that's that's that's what our last interview with
somebody else said exactly.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
But I'll let these guys talk about the events. These guys,
these guys are you know, look, you got the best
athletes in the world. We talked about Tom Brady and
talking about Lebron James, who are all fantastic, but this
is these are the quality of athletes that they are
on par with that. And and it's just a special
thing to watch rodeo. The pageantry of rodeo, the the
beauty of it, the thrill of it, the res the rides,
(03:57):
all of it. It's just it's magical to me. And
it's just so America. It's just part of being an
American to me. It's just so so ingrained in us
when you see it. And I don't think if anybody
can watch the opening ceremony of a big rodeo and
not and not bring you to tears when they run
that flag around the arena and then then, uh, you
don't have heart.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Is Cody Custer on the line?
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Cody Custer, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Cody, Who's gonna be your favorite Riva Jelly rowl er?
What's his face on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
I'm gonna be honest, I'm excited to be here and
see it all. I'm a I'm a fan of all
all all music. So I'm here. I'm here and I'm
gonna be here being cheering everybody on, so I can't
really say I got a favorite. I love it all.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Well, Cody actually wanted a little Wayne to show up.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Cody had a very diplomatic answer.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
There was Paul Hond does a take call to recover
from from one of these things?
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Just one night at the rodeo? I mean, are you
ready the next day? Seriously? What do you wake up
feeling like the next morning?
Speaker 7 (04:59):
It depends on if you ended at the rodeo or
in downtown.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I gotta imagine this is going to be a pretty
big party after each night of the rodeo.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
Yeah, I'm sure it is. It's gonna be It's gonna
be a party all weekend basically, you know, from start
to finish, and a lot of a lot of the
guys are going to come stay out here and enjoy
Nashville for the week and the families and the fans,
so you know, we kind of hoped all be one
big family, one big group out here for the weekend.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
And how about Tim O'Connell? Tim, where are you from
originally Iowa?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Oh dude, that's just down the street. Wow, I've never
talked to you people before.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
My wife actually from Minneapolis though, oh.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
No kidding, I'm just amazed since she made it out
here live too.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
So impressive. You guys, this is gonna be so much fun.
So it's Music City Rodeo. Everybody can google that. Anything
else that you want to tell us about the event.
Anybody on the phone real quick, Let's sell it. Let's
get Minneapolis down there.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
It's just a huge deal for Nashville, and it's a
huge deal for the PRCA, big deal for the cowboys
in the city, and certainly a big deal for US
artists to get to play it. We're looking at this
as a big event. This isn't just a come for
one night to see a rodeo. This is a huge
event that we're turning this into. And I think somebody
said earlier it's the biggest rodeo west of the Mississippi,
(06:20):
and these guys are saying it's gonna this is one
of the rodeos is going to propel guys to the
national finals.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Well, we're looking for twenty some one thousand people at
Bridgestone to be sporting those paper umbrellas during the rodeo.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
This is this gold and love. The way this has
all come together. Thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
We're gonna have to get some music. City rodeo, paper umbrellas,
the path out there.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
