Queensland has won the opening State of Origin league match 38-10 at Sydney.
The Maroons are one victory from a third straight series triumph after Joseph Suaalii's dismissal seven minutes in for a high tackle on Reece Walsh condemned the Blues' chances.

have won the opening State of Origin League match last
night thirty eight ten in Sydney, Maroon's one victory from
a third straight series triumph after Joseph Soali's dismissal seven
minutes into the game for a high tackle on Reese
Walsh and that condemned the Blues chances really joining us

Yeah, nobody wanted me to go to the game with
him last night, Brian, and none of them will certainly

Shortest debut ever and I think with the cracklown they've
had on high tackles etc. You can't make an argument
for him staying on the field. A couple of people
said it ruined the game as a contest, which it does.
They may have to look down the track at changing
something there, perhaps allowing after ten minutes someone to come
into the game, but the player who makes the incident

of not being back into the game. But you have
to remember that Rhys Walsh was ruled out too. In Queensland,
they carried an outside back on the bench, Selwyn Cobbo,
who went on to have a very big impact in
the game, and the Blues took some time to adjust.
Then in that time Queensland had scored three tries before
they'd plug that hole. So no backs on the Blues

bench and they tried hard early in the second half,
but it just wasn't enough. Queensland had their tails up
and got the win in front of seventy seven thousand fans.

I think most people have realized that it's what had
to happen. He's facing five weeks now for a Grade
two reckless high tackle, so with the Roosters having a
couple of buyers coming up, he might not play again
until the end of July, and he certainly won't playing
in Origin, so the next big game he plays will
be in rugby and well the rooster is not making

the finals that would count on. But yes, certainly a
debut he won't forget and I'd imagine he probably wants
to make it up to a few of his teammates.

Man of the Mass performance by Maroon's captain Daily Cherry Evans.
He seems to step up another gear, doesn't he when

Well, I just had to look. He's thirty five years old,
and there was the stage there where the balls him
played for a long time and everybody sort of had
their hands on their hips, and he still found an
effort to race away with the ball. And just his
fitness must be tremendous, and he certainly did his homework.
He knew that what he was going his AEO for
New South Wales was going to do when he took

that intercept, and he is just the right place at
the right time, and the forty twenty I think of
the second half basically took the fight out of the Blues,
who had been very very strong up to that point.

Yeah, that's for sure. Former key We coach Michael McGuire
took over the new South Wales coaching job. So will
he be pushing the panic button after game one?

I don't think he pushed the panic button. It was
hard to find a bad player on either side. I
think most of the Blues show that they deserve another chance. Unfortunately,
Sydney's the largest city in Australia and the media here
would like winners, so they're going to push hard for changes.
I think that Nico Hines might be in a bit
of trouble and Mitchell Moses may come in for the

second game. But yeah, they all tried hard and I
think the coach will probably also include a back on
the bench for the second game. And it'll be interesting
today if in the wash up we find out why
the new South Wales skipper Jake t Voievitch he played
the first twenty five minutes and looked strong, but then
he didn't come back to the last four minutes when
the game was gone.

Looking into the crystal ball, only the nineteen ninety four
Blues have come back to win the series after losing
the opening game at home. So can they do it?

Well, it means that they'll be certainly fired up in
Melbourne and that's their chance to square the series. And
of course you've got to do it the hard way.
You've got to go to Queensland where they'll be buying
for blood and myri own series wins. So yeah, if
they do come back from here, he will certainly be
one for the ages.
