that David Nikita's teamed up with Joseph Parker who's having
a fora as a boxing promoter, not a boxer, but
a boxing promoter. He joins us this morning. Joseph, good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, from boxer to promoter mate.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
You know what, I love boxing and i love the
career that I've had and I'm still going out with
the journey is still continuing getting some great results. But
I'm putting on my promoter hat now and I'm thankful
to David Higgins for the opportunity to co promote this
next show, the next event, and we've got David Naika,
a very talented fighter from New Zealand. Great work hereth
(00:46):
a good height, good reach, looks the part, great abs
abs and I've always wanted and I'm now getting into
promotion and I'm looking at it as a way of
something to do after my boxing career.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, I guess, I guess it would suppear secure your
career in boxing, But what is that why you decided
to become a promoter to look after the future.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
To look after the future. But also along the way,
David Higgins has taught me about boxing and about the
promotion side of things and the business side of things,
and I feel I've always had an interest in it,
and now I got this opportunity to co promote this
event and actually learn more about it. What it takes
to to take a fighter from here to there to
the top of the world, to become Cruisaway champion of
the world. About everything that's involved in terms of you know,
(01:29):
the venue, the tickets, the sponsorship, There's so many things
involved and I want to learn it all.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It's fantastic. And of course David Nikita, you would have
watched him come through the ranks from an amateur right
up to where he is today, wouldn't you.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
David Nikos has achieved a lot as an amateur. He
was Bronze middleisted the Olympics two times, Golden Miller lists
at the Common Off Games. He's traveled all around the
world and gotten all that experience. And coming into the
professional ranks, he's he's he's had a great start, he's
had some good wins, but we want to take him
all the way to the top now.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
So you You're promoting this big, big title fight in
Auckland in September and Auckland's Viaduct Event Center, aren't you.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Listen. I'm going to promote this fight and I'm I'm
gonna do my best with David Higgins to put on
the best event we've ever seen as of late. You know,
we haven't had big boxing here in his Inn for
a for a while now. I think the last big
fight was myself against Junior far and we are very
excited to be putting on this event and hopefully we
can put on a lot more. And listen, there's a
(02:28):
lot of talent on this o the world. We want
to show that to the world.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
All right, Well, let's talk about you and your recent boxing.
For a you were in you were in Saudi Arabia.
How did all that go?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
You know, I'm in Saudi Arabia and I'm very thankful
for the opportunity to be fighting there and fighting on
these big shows, and thankful to Tyson Fury, Spencer Brown,
David Higgins forgetting me the opportunities. Turkey Ol Shake. He's
putting on it. They've taken over boxing, They've got UFC,
they've got golf, they've got tennis, they've got football, and
they're putting on all these big events. So for myself
(02:59):
to be a part of that, I am very is
a great time to be a heavyweight.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
And you've you've you've achieved some great success Dante Wilder
in December and then victory over was Jang as well
in March, so it would have been pleasing for you.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
It was fantastic. You know when you you know when
you when you finally found, when you finally find the
white person to look after your career in terms of strength, conditioning,
recovery and nutrition, and everything's flowing nicely and you're getting
these great results. I love the journey now more than
I ever have before.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
And now you have a lot of other people chasing
you down. You've been called out for a fight by
a British a former British world champion.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
I know Lawrence A. Cooley. You know he was Cruiserweight
Chamber of the World, Bridge Away Chamber of the World
now and he's trying to make a statement by coming
to the headweight division and he's been calling me out.
But you know what, he's calling me out and I'm
calling it other fighters. I want to I want to
fight the guys above me and the guys who're going
to get me to fighting for the championship the world again.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
So who do you want to fight next? If you
got anybody lined up.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
They said to me, there's a remagined Jiang that that
could that could be a possibility. But also there's there's
the guys like Usick, There's guys like Joshua, There's guys
like Daniel de Bois. All these guys that have come
off some great wins, and I love the deportunity to
fight any of them.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
So do you know when your next big fight will be?
Speaker 1 (04:11):
David? Not too sure yet at the moment. I've been
told September October. But at the moment, I'm just building,
I'm training hard, I'm enjoying life, and when the fight
opportunity comes and we will lock up again, I'm going
to be one hundred percent ready.
