Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rugby League on the country Sport Breakfast with Pet stop
your car's service doctor using the latest technology. Well, Saturday
will definitely be a day the Warriors will want to
forget along with the Warriors Faithful side annihilated in the
NRLs round sixteen by bottom of the table Titan sixty
six six on the Gold Coast. They conceded eleven tries

(00:22):
to the Warriors. One joining us on the show this morning,
former Kiwis coach to Graham Low monusor.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Graham morning, how are you doing? All right?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Look, I'm great mate. Have you recovered?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
You have to get over that. I mean, ian RL
is such a tough competition that if it only takes
a slight error, really and it can just compile on
you and just build up and build up. And that's
to some degree what happened to the to the Warriors,
and you know on Saturday night, because it was just
once you let once you let the other team on

(00:55):
a little bit of a role, it's just so hard,
so hard to stop them. And I mean I think
the Warriors fans amongst the most knowledgeable in all the
NRL fans, but you know they know that that if
you give if a side gets that role on. It's
a lot easier said than done to be able to
stop it. It's a very hard thing and it's the

(01:18):
school board just clicks up. As it did on Saturday.
It wasn't annihilation as you said.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Eleven tries to what I mean, can you put your
finger on exactly what went wrong? I mean watching it,
the team just didn't gel mis tackles. Almost everything went wrong,
didn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, I think that knowing Des has at the Titans coaches,
I know Das really well. You know, he played for
me at Manly and then I was the CEO when
he was coach at Manly. I know him really really well.
And they haven't been traveling all that well, sitting down
near the bottom or at the bottom of the table
as they were. He would hate that. He would absolutely

(01:55):
hate it. They didn't go anywhere near as well as
he wanted over the last two weeks. And I know
what Des is like, and Des would have been. I
think they're so. I was supposed to sum up for you.
The two teams had a totally different mental approach to
this game. DESI Dezzy would have had his guys absolutely

(02:18):
breathing fire, and I think it showed when they in
the first few moments of the game, the first few minutes.
To me, the Titans look like like they had that
just the extra bit of spring in their step. They
had a bit more decided decided with their park passing,
and once it started, they were impossible to stop.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Here they were the halves have been the talking point
all year, Sean Johnson struggling now to find form on
his return. Do you think Sean is still the man
for the job?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Absolutely? I mean I've heard a number of people have
said to me, well, you know, they mentioned Sean to
do with this game on Saturday night. Wasn't the reason
they got flowed by sixty six points. It's not because
Shawn Johnson was half back. That was a team scene
and the team, the team let the club. The team

(03:10):
let the players down, the team the fans down, and
the team let the coach down. It's nothing that you know,
Shawn's a great player, He's probably the best player they've got,
but he's one of those guys that seems to polarize
and that attract the attention when things don't go right.
If they say it's because it's his fault.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, well, this weekend doesn't get much easier. They're hosting
the Brisbane Bronco, so it's a home game at least
if you coach, you know, what would you do? Would
you make wholesale changes? Graham?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
No, you can't. Well I wouldn't. I don't think you can,
you know, because this was a this was I personally
think to get beaten by that is a mental thing
as much as anything else. And so they've got to
be built back up again. And there's no good renting
and raving and channing on that. It's what's gone's gone.

(04:01):
They've just got to get on with an expert. The
Broncos are a better team than than what the Titans are,
so they've got a bigger chill on the hand of
the game, but a different side, a different side. So
just the NRL is a very very tough, tough competition
and a cruel one as we all.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Saw that the seasons on a knife edge for the Wires, really, isn't.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
It it is? You know, they've got to they've got
to make a move and but it's you know, the
same thing can happen to other teams as well if
they're not on their games. That's how every single moment
of every single game is crucial. You cannot afford to
back off. You cannot afford to have the wrong attitude.
They might they might think they had the wrong that

(04:43):
they might think that's the issue. But I'm not saying
the wrong attitude in a derogatory manner. But you know
that they just might might not have been mentally prepared
as they may have should have been. And you know
that that's what the NRL is like the slightest, the
slightest I suppose area at all. And people say that

(05:08):
which is the most important mental part of the physical part, Well,
you don't tackle if your attitude is not right. And
that's what happened in the weekend.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
All right, And well let's look at it to Wednesday night.
Graham Game two, state of origin. Being a former Queensland
Maroon's head coach, can you see Queensland winning Game two
and sort of locking the shield away for another year.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
I'll be surprised if they don't. The Queensland are quite confident.
They've got a very very hard working pack of forwards
and they've got great attacking backs and day Terry Evans
is probably in the form of his life actually but
I think they've made new South Wales have made some
really interesting and I think good and positive changes. So

(05:52):
we just have to wait and see that. That's origin,
you know, you have to wait and see.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Absolutely all right, Well up the wise, we'll keep continue
to hold the faith. And thanks for joining us, mate.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
No, you've got to be up the waves all right
and keep keep that faith going. It's just that, just
that game, and I'm sure they'll turn around this coming weekend.
And because it's not gonna you can't win every single game,
but there's no way in the woods you should get
annihilated or

Speaker 1 (06:18):
That absolutely all right, So Graham Low joining us here
