Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good Country Sport, Breakfast Netball, short Session with a Von
Willering Go Gold Gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Three rounds to go and we have a new team
at the top of the table joining us on the
show this morning. Former Silver FIRN coach and Gold Sport
commentator if on Willering.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Morning, Vonn, Yes, good morning. I actually think that the
outcomes are exactly the same as the previous week, with
the fact that we had two blowout games and guess
what another bonus point for the Stars.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, there certainly were some blowout games. So let's go
back to Saturday. The Magic extend they're winning streak to
three games with a fifty one to forty seven went
over the Northern Stars.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, and it was really interesting. And we've said this
about the Stars and don't know how many times they
had opportunities to secure the win and didn't take it.
And it was a situation really the Magic at three
quarter time they had the slight lead forty to thirty five,
and they really wanted to make sure from them that
day secured. They're sent pass offs, but Stars still pegged

(01:02):
it back and yeah, n square, as you indicated, fifty
one forty seven, and again the Stars made many changes,
mainly in their mid court. Obviously their goal attack position
is shared between Mala Salla and Faulkner, but they are
really missing Ruyale Buchanon and you can see it just
in that whole mid court area, and that affects both
your attack and defensive work. Come and again, Kate Burley

(01:25):
I thought was played really well. She was taken off
at one stage but came back on. Interesting though Stars
made many changes, where the Magic they made absolutely no
changes to their team, and they just basically said, you're
you know, you're the starting seven. You secure it, and
Cable Dixon now is in the Starling lineup for the Magic.
But if you just want to analyze it totally, all

(01:48):
you have to do is say, well, Magic actually had
better shooting stats. They had fifty eight attempts and the
Stars actually had fifty seven attempts. So again you look
at it and you're going missed opportunity for the Stars,
and I think that's how their whole season has gone,
you know, and it's all very well, be proud of
getting bonus points saying you know, we're getting close to teams.

(02:09):
This is this competition now, particularly at this end of
the competition. It's about winning. It's as simple as in
trying to secure it. Obviously they're out of the run.
Stars is out of the running. Steals now out of
the running, but certainly it's still going to be a
competition between those other four teams.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
All right, let's start with the second game for the weekend.
The Mystics have finally fit and healthy team. They took
the main Tactics to town with a sixty one to
forty nine win. Have the Mystics left their run too late?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
No, not at all, and it's really welcome back Grasonwiki
and Peters Sui Ava. What are difference those two make
when they come on to the court for the Mystics. Look,
that first quarter was twenty one eleven, and Grace the
Wiki scored nineteen out of twenty in that quarter, So
don't tell me there was a huge reliance on her,

(03:02):
you know. And it's interesting both players went off in
the second quarter, and what happened. The Tactics actually won
that second quarter thirteen ten, and then third quarter both
players come back on and the Mystics win won that
eighteen eleven. But in the fourth quarter, at this period
of time, Grace the Wiki again went off the court

(03:23):
and actually Tactics secured that last quarter fourteen eleven. So yeah,
the damage really was done in that first quarter and
the Tactics, the Tactics, they were just caught nothing. They
knew they must have known her that some stage Grace
and Peter were going to come back onto the court,
but honestly, they was found so wanting in that first quarter.

(03:46):
And yeah, it was interesting. Ali Bird also very hard
to feed for the Tactics. I think certainly playing Karaker
at goal keeper made a huge difference. She really can
contained them. But again a situation of the mid court.
Tactics did not have eric Canna Petterson and she had
an ankle and injury just before the game started, and

(04:07):
I reckon they really missed her throughout that mid court.
And again, and I've said it in the past, you
know that mid court really you know combines. They mold
both your defensive unit and you're attacking unit together. And
they were found vaunting in that area. But too late
for the Mystics. No it's not. But you've got a
situation now whereby obviously Tactics and Pulse are looking for

(04:32):
that top spot. One of the reasons because they certainly
do not want to play Mystics as a two and
a three. Then you've got the competition between Mystics, Magic
and to a certain degree, Pulse. I suppose no, not
now because now they're top of the tables, Mystics and
Magic trying to secure that third position. So you know,
you've got your Tactics and your Pulse really working hard

(04:54):
to get that top spot and the Mystics and Magic
trying to secure just being in the top. So is
it too late for the Missics, No, absolutely not. You know,
if they've got both those players available, yeah, they can
still make it. Isn't that interesting though? I think they've
had six losses and they can still make the finals weekend.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Let's start with last night. You called the game live
here and on gold Sport Central Pulse sixty five thirty
eight over the over the steal. That's a huge gap,
wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Absolutely? And you look at the pulse on the previous
week and you go, oh, you know, do they deserve
like top ranking? And they didn't because I thought they
had just had an average performance and in this game
really interesting. The first quarter was only eleven ten, and
you look at the game and you go, oh, how's
this game going to come out? And then suddenly, I

(05:47):
guess the Pulse just woke up and really took it
to the steal and in that second quarter they won
that fourteen to seven, and that set the tone for
the rest of the game because it was nineteen ten
after that and in the last quarter exactly the same
as Mystic Stactics twenty one to eleven. So yeah, convincing
performance by the Pulse. Both teams. They made a number

(06:09):
of subs, but the Steel made the subs basically to
try to improve. You know, they really had no answers
at all for the Pulse. They made changes in their
attacking end, they made changes in their defensive end. Pulse, yes,
they did also make some changes, but that really was
opportunities for the bench players, and I appreciate they had

(06:30):
such a lead. They were never going to lose that game.
They obviously still are looking for this gold differential. So
you look at even right to the last whistle, you know,
they were really intense in the competition and you can
say were they trying to do the steal not They
were really just trying to secure their own performance. But
it was interesting when Matura came on. She really fed

(06:53):
salmon well, and I think that's probably going to be
her main role and just to feed her. Yes, it
was interesting though because you had a Warmsley on the bench.
She was actually named on the bench, but she never started,
so maybe she is coming back. Why would you name
her on the bench if you know she wasn't going

(07:13):
didn't have any opportunity. But this was played for the
Robin brought In Legacy trophy, so yeah, it was I
mean she actually coached both these teams, so it was
a very fitting that they played for that. But you
know what I looked at mainly is that Polse right
now they deserve the top They are now top seats

(07:34):
and they actually deserve that, and tactics have had their opportunities.
But after playing against the mister, you say, nah, Polse
deserves that toppling. But it's going to be interestinct from
now on. Absolutely. You know Poles in that game, by
the way, I had seventy nine attempts to forty seven
from the Steel so they weren't even getting the ball. Yeah,

(07:54):
weren't even getting the ball into their suitors. In the
past we've said about Steel, Ah, you know that, you
know the shooters weren't accurate enough, but you have a
look at it. How can you win a game when
you only have forty seven attempts? So yeah, a worthy,
worthy victory to the Pulse. I actually enjoyed the game.
You can say, oh, you know, the game was won.
I was totally one in the second quarter. Yes it was,

(08:14):
But actually I enjoyed it in the fact I looked
at the Pulse and that was a pretty great performance
both through court and defensively. I mean, I think Jackson's
got something like it. She had a number of intercepts,
deflections and games. So that was a real team effort.
So they deserve where they're sitting right now.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Fantasticon three rounds to go, it is tight at the top,
only one point in it between the Pulse and the Tactics.
We'll talk again next week.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah sounds good.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
