Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold Sport.
We're talking tennis now on the show. To the grass
courts of the All England Club at Wimbledon, we hear
day four of the third tennis major of the year,
joining US multi media megastar Craig Gabriel.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Morning, Craig, be kay, good to be with you.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
And we've had sunshine today, no rain, no interruptions for rain.
There's the shock, but it was pretty it was pretty
windy on the what has been pretty windy on the courts.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Enthralling match underway at the moment and the crowds are
all there watching the Murray brothers, Andy n Jamie and
it's pretty tight.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah. Absolutely. It's the third match on the center court.
I didn't expect to see a doubles match on center
court so early in the tournament, but there's obvious reasons
for that with Andy Murray playing. And it's still a
pretty full center court crowd over here. It's six all
first set and it's five all in the tiebreak. The

(01:00):
Murray brothers are playing Rinky Hijikata and John Piers, both
from Australia, so I hope they win.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
We talking about Australians, one guy that isn't going to win,
and then it's Goot Kanakas retired injured.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, he went for a heavy fall in the match.
It was in the third set, set all with lukaup
We and I think it was four to two in
that third set when he went for this heavy four
got treatment from the Fizzia. The left knee was taped heavily.
He played one more game and had to retire. It
was five to two in the third set when he retired.

(01:34):
I don't know what the situation is. He's still with
the physios and whatever treatment he is getting. It's just
a shame because he played such a great match to
beat felix Ane Aliassima in the first in the previous round,
and he was looking pretty good. But gosh, I don't
know what it is for Thanas. He's a lovely guy.
I know him really well, but goodness gracious, the injuries

(01:58):
that he sustains as just ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I watched a few of the highlights of nervek Djokovic's
game through in four.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What did you make of his second round, Madge?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Look, I think the young fellow from Great Britain put
Old United Kingdom put in a pretty solid effort. Jacob Fernley,
I'd never seen him play before. He's very young, twenty two,
got a wild card and on the center court for
the first time, so he made the most of it
and took a set off Djokovic and it was I
think six three sixties, five seven seven five. So sorry,

(02:31):
six three six four five, seven seven five.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Do you think Djokovic can make it right through to
the final.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Well, it is Djokovic, It's not Joe Shmoe from Provo.
So yeah, if somebody's going to do it, like after
an injury and surgery, he'd be the likely one to
do it.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Any other big names fallen by the wayside in the means.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
In the men, Herbert Herkutz also retired. He is the
number seven seed and he was playing Arthur Fees of
France seven six six four two sixth six all and
he retired again with a knee issue. So it seems
to be going around at the moment. But Katie Bolter,

(03:15):
Alex Deemeno's partner, she went out. She was the thirty
second seed, lost to another britt Harriet Dart and then
another all brit Affair so Cam Norrie or New Zealand's
Cam Norrie, should I say, And I'm sure his dad's listening.
Cam Nourri defeated Jack Draper, the new British number one,
seven sixty six four seven six, So that was good on.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
The woman's side of thanks to you take us through.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yep, she's still in her post match media conference. Sometimes
Bill can talk a lot. And yeah, she got through
six four sixth three of a Petra martich On's jibe
through and then a rebaccna through. Jessica Bogula going out
the fifth seed sort of didn't surprise me. She lost
to one. She knew six four six seven six one

(04:02):
it should have actually been straight sets.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
And we're pretty pleased over here because Kiwi lu lu
San is through the second round, which is great.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, great, and she's going to be on tomorrow. Lulusen
will be on court fifteen tomorrow against Julyn of China
and it's a first time meeting for them.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
May the sun shine on center court for the next
few days, Craig, great, great to catch up, have a
great weekend.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
May we speak again next week, Yes we may.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
There we are, Craig Gabriel. I just love Wimbledon. There's
something special about Wimbledon. As I said, you don't get
the men's singles of the women's singles. It's the gentleman
and ladies second round, and we'll talk and just through
now the Murray brothers sadly have actually been beaten by
that Australian pairing and they've just got a very special

(04:52):
presentation now and looking back at Andy Murray's contribution to
tennis and Wimbledon on the center court,
