Speaker 1 (00:00):
Keeping the faith like we do week in week out
here on the country Sport Breakfast one New Zealand Warriors
back in action this Friday, nineteen o'clock kickoff. Richard, I
go out of assistant coach, actually out of the Warriors
during this morning. Richard back to board the.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Plane money guys. Yeah, yeah, you caught me, so there
might be a few nies. It's pretty busy airport this morning,
but good to catch you.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Hey. Let's start a bit of a downer really, news
coming out yesterday Tohu Harris out for the rest of
the season. How big a loss is that for the side? Mate?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, yeah, big loss because obviously as our captain and
I think everyone understands our instrumental toll influence over the
last eighteen months. But it's an injury. He's been struggling
along with it for a while now. He's tried some
sort of a media work to try and pay place
with the pain bury and discomfort of it really, but

(00:49):
it would getting to the point where it was inhibiting
his performance just way too much. So yeah, the decision
has been made to get it done and obviously can't
get him mark from next year, ruling out for the year.
But you know, injuries are obviously part and past of
the sport, and getting him back in a good state

(01:09):
is obviously more important.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
And the casualty ward's larger than either of them. We've
got Tohu Rocketberry, chance to Nicol Cox there and Michello,
Sean Johnson. The list goes on. How frustrating is that
for people like yourself as the coaching groups.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
You know, injuries are just part and past the past sport.
And when we put our squad together at the start
of the year, we talked about the depth we've got,
so obviously it's going to be people getting some great
opportunities over the coming weeks, and we're really excited about
seeing those guys. You know, one playing tomorrow in tend
to have pickt it. He's had some excellent games this
year when he's had to be called upon, and we've

(01:46):
got a young center and all A Cower again that
when he's played, he's played excellent, and then reportantly picked
a couple of injuries of himself. We're really looking forward
and fingers cross that all it can get a run
in the team. So you know, in adversity general, we
always presents an opportunity to so you know, we got
to you know, say the part and parcel of the sport.
It's not ideal. But at the same time, as we

(02:09):
saw again, can't do the other week in like a hallisema,
sometimes you find out some really good things.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Liven versus twelve on the latter on Friday night against
the Raiders. What all the boys need to do to
play well to make sure they bring home the two points?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Mate, It's all very tight, you know when we talk
about the ladder at the moment, you know it's eleven v. Twelve,
But I think what's really important when you look at
the ladder is to look at the number of wins
because different teams have had a different amount of buys,
and the congestion on the ladder, you know, shows it's
going to be really really tight. And I know there's

(02:43):
a lot of permittations at the moment, people looking at
everybody's running and stuff like that. But we we just
got to take care of our you know, take care
of our own games and almost you know, rub out
everybody else that we're in competition with. And if we
can do that and you know, take care of his
own number of wins, the required number of winters. Then
you know that'll see us, you know that will see

(03:05):
us in a position that we want to be towards
the end of the year. You know some real big games,
and this is one of them in terms of the
wrong home. And I think you know the fix you
lists over the next five or six weeks is going
to throw games like this up every week.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Richard. Great, and thanks for joining us this morning. As
your final call. I think we've going to let you go, mate.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Guys, I'm walking and i'm talking. I I'm trying to
find the way around in that. Thanks guys for having
me on
