Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're talking international rugby now on the show where the
All Blacks have touched down state side ahead of their
clash with Fiji out of San Diego on Saturday afternoon,
New Zealand Time. Commentary here on gold Sport joining us
this morning out of the All Blacks, Pasalia Tossi morning.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Pasalio, Good morning. How are you?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I look very very well? Thank you? More importantly, how
you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
No, I'm doing great. I'm doing great.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Boys are finally sitting room and I've kind of sit
in as well, and yeah, just ready to rip into
training the.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Side of this. So yeah, pretty pretty good man.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Well let's go back three weeks ago and you were
named in your first All Black squad. Have you finally
come back down to earth because your backstory was wonderful?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah, you know, nothing, nothing really describes the feeling I
was feeling at the time with evengy, but.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, it's kind of it's kind of all final.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Finally settled in now that I'm out of them in
the team and got on some know the coaches a
little bit better and the players as well.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So yeah, fine, yeah, finding it really good on the
team at the moment.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, What was it like for you After the naming
of the squad you all then got together, I think
it was in Wellington and started training.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Was that a bit of a shock to the system.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
You know, no level of rugby that that I've been
a part of club Matters or Supers compares to the
speed and the physicality that that it is here internationally,
or even even though I haven't debuted or played played games,
even at trainings, you know, you can just feel, you
can just feel the intensity and the speed that they
train it, and it's just yeah, it's just next level where.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
And working with all those coaches as well. What's Razor
like to work with?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
No raises the man, he's he's a great man. And
I haven't.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
I haven't obviously it's my fashion the All Blacks, and
I don't know what management was like before. But what
I've heard is that he's he's he's good and bringing
his own flavor and his own his own his own
energy and stuff like that to the team. So yeah,
so far it's working out pretty well.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I imagine you've learned a bit, have you.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, I've learned.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
I've learned heaps, you know, I'm especially especially coming in
and I've only been proped for you know, three four
years now, and I'm still trying to perfect my craft
as well, so doing heaps off the coaches, but especially
off Jase as well.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
He's been a great coach so far.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So talk us through the move from number eight to prop.
I mean number one. You had to put a lot
of extra weight on, didn't you.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Yeah, one hundred percent. It was lockdown in twenty twenty
and I went into the lockdown as number eight, and
I was I was a little bit lighter.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Then, and then at the end of lockdown put on
about ten fifteen kilos around there.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
So then at that time and then I knew that
that I was going to switch the prop, but I'd
already given it some thought in the year in the
previous year when I was playing mightor ten down in
Southland in twenty nineteen, just kind of running it by
a couple of guys down there that I've played alongside,
and I felt like it suited me best to move

(02:58):
there as well, especially as a number eight, not jumping
on the line out and all that kind of stuff,
and not much number ads are running around there like
one hundred and thirty five clocks anyway.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So yeah, and then the move to buy a plenty
for the buyer plenty Steamers Richard what what he I mean?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
He would have helped you a lot as well.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Probably one of my probably one of the best decisions
decisions that I've made, was to move back up home.
I wouldn't say I'm originally from there, but I went
to school in Retora, so obviously kind of familiar with
the day. But going there and meeting Richard what one
of the absolute greatest coaches that I've ever been coached by. Yeah,

(03:36):
I've enjoyed my time up there and what he brings
to the team.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
And you know, because.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
One thing that you try and develop as a player
with the management is that you don't want to just
see them as management. You want to be able to
approach them and all that kind of stuff. And Richard
bought is one of the greatest.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Men's fantastic You love hearing that one. You haven't featured
in the first two tests against England, So talk through
the normal game day as a as a non player.
Was it sort of frustrating sitting there with your all
black suit on watching the boys play.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Oh it's like, you know, like you get obviously you
get itchy feet and all that, but you know, like
just the standard because obviously when we don't get picked,
we're still preparing to play just in case something happens
on game day to the game to the starting twenty three.
So obviously we still turn up on the bus at
the same time as then prepping like we're playing, warming
them up.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
And then once we warm them up and the.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
And the whistle goes to for kick off where we're
in the stands watching the game. And then once the
game is all finished, we come down and greet the
boys and then we rip into our game replacement.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
So this week up against Fiji odds on to make
the All Black debut, do you still have to pinch
yourself to think, hey, I'm an All Black now?

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Oh yeah, here and here and there, you know, like
because well once, you know, it's at the time when
I got named was when I had to keep pinching myself.
But now that I'm in the now that I'm that
I'm in the tea, it's just more of like a
like I want to just keep training hard and I
want to make the team and hopefully, hopefully I get
the debut this weekend. I still haven't found out what

(05:09):
the team is, so keeping my fingers crossed and hoping
that I've done enough to be able to put their
jersey on this weekend.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Fantastic. You get some cool gears at All Black too,
don't you.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
One hundred You know, it's like a it's like a
it's like a Disneyland for for for for ice rugby
players walking into that room, it's like a it's like
a bloom and maze, and there's just gears everywhere. And yeah,
but you know, like obviously getting all their gears and
coming from the background where we couldn't afford stuff like
they're just hugely grateful to be able to receive gears
like that.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
So yeah, brilliant.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Well you wish are the very very best of Black.
Hopefully we'll be playing on Saturday afternoon, New Zealand time. Persalio,
thanks for joining

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Us, no problem, but all you have a great day.
