Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the sports field to the shearing shed. It's the
Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Well Saturday
and night. The All Blacks look to sit to get
back on winning track when they face Argentina out of
Eden Park tomorrow night live here on Goldsport. We'll have
a commentary of the match kicking off at five past seven.

(00:21):
Joining us on the show this morning, All Black Prop Fletcher,
Your morning, Fletcher morning. How are you good mate? More importantly,
how are you feeling?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'm bloody excited obviously it's going to be a massive
game tomorrow and the boys are really excited to write
some wrongs from last week here.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Talk us before we talked about last weekend, took us
through the week at training. Have you noticed a sort
of step up on the pressure. Have you been pushed
even harder?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, definitely. Obviously the boys are pretty disappointed. So yeah,
this week at training I've really noticed is been a
lot more edge around around our sessions in the intent.
It's really stepped up, which has been good to see.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, what was it like? Its Sky's daym in Wellington
on Saturday night when the final whistle was blown, I mean,
what was it like sitting down in the sheds. How
were you all feeling?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, I think everyone was was really disappointed, but muscall
nerds around how that game has got away from us.
So yeah, we were quickly reminded to look forward to
the next week. Obviously it's the opportunity to get another
crack at them. So yeah, our attention was pretty quickly

(01:34):
put onto the next week. But obviously we had we
had have a really good review and sort out a
good plan for this week.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
The Permas certainly were firing down there, weren't they.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, they're They're very physical and a team that really
prized himself around the area. And yeah, we probably got
took quite surprise, suppose the last couple of times have
played them and been really physical and in tough games.
So yeah, it's nothing we're spending that again this week

(02:06):
again as a prop.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
I mean, the first scrum in that test match last
last Saturday night came in the sixty minute mark. Have
you ever seen that in the game before?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
No, I think there would probably be a world FIRS say,
we we're all sitting on the bench and was ready
to go on. They hadn't been the scrum yet, so
I think I think the front ris legs were probably
more fresh than they usually wear, so there's a bit
of an upside. But no, I think both teams obviously
pride ourselves with our scrums, so probably a little bit

(02:39):
disappointed they didn't get a scrum.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
But no, it was.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Pretty random, wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, it was just weird. It was really weird. The lineout.
I touched on that one. It's been a big issue
in the first couple of tests for twenty twenty four.
What do you put that down to? Can you put
your finger on it?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
I think it was like a couple of things in
the last In the last game, obviously it's some really
good things, and then we struggled to stack good moments
on top of each other and let the pressure up.
So yeah, it was it definitely wasn't up to our
standard a couple of times in the test. But we've
worked really hard on that this week and hopefully week

(03:21):
in really hone in on that area because it's obviously
a really important part of the game.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Is I mean, is there any one issue that you've
worked on or is it just a combination of issues.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I think it's a combination of issues. Obviously, everyone being
really clear on our on our calls and systems, and
then in those high pressure moments just backing what we've
done throughout the week. Yeah, just being really really focused
in on that on that time and nailing our skill
set in the moment.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And for you personally, pleature coming off the bench and
most of the tests this year took us through that role.
You know, what's it like just sitting on the bench
watching it all unfolded before? Were you called on? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Obviously from us the bench as we're told not. We
don't want to come on and supposed to change the game.
We want to carry on with the what the boys
already doing out there and just went were on the bench.
We're having those conversations with each other around what would
it looks like when we come on? But just for
me and I suppose other boys, it's bringing energy with
our voice and working really hard so the boys feel

(04:25):
our presence and when we get on, and I suppose
if we want to try and speed the game up
a little bit, we can do that, But I think
it's just going on and sitting in seamlessly and nailing
our role in that moment.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
What's it been like having Sam Kine back in the
squad as well. Who'll be on the bench with you
on the weekend? What?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
He Yeah, Yeah, it's awesome having stand back in the squad. Obviously,
he's an amazing leader and he's he's had some really
what was words this weekend. Yeah, I'm really looking forward
to getting out there with him this weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Has the thirty year winning streak at Aiden Park been
talked about much in practice this week.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Not really. We've we've kind of focused on on the
job and that's more of a bit of an outcome focus.
But yeah, we're really clear on our on our player
this week in Obviously it's always in the back of
your mind. Eden Park's a really special place to play,
and obviously we don't want to we don't want to
lose Eden Park or anywhere, so we haven't directly talked

(05:29):
about it, but yeah, like I said, it's always in
the back of our mind because yeah, it's obviously a
place we take a lot of pride on.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
What's your favorite ground that you like fronting up for
to play on?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Fletcher, Oh, that's a good question. Obviously it's pretty special
playing at Eden Park. Yeah. Yeah, being in New Zealand
i'd say Eden Park, but also you can't beat. What
I'm really looking forward.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
To is the new standing down in Christians obviously being
a Crusaders player and I think that's of the ultimate
that's getting built and get an opportunity to play on
that stadium.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Fantastic. Well, we wish you and the boys the very
very best of luck to tomorrow and night feature. Thank
you for joining us today.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Well, thanks very much for having me absolute pleasure.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Flex a newle all black prop on the bench. You'll
be on the park at some stage, I would imagine
tomorrow night at Eden Park, and don't forget we'll have
a live commentary of that match. Gold Sport kick off
is at five past seven.
