Speaker 1 (00:01):
Give me the gun.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Three we're la.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I see, but they came close night after that the
Randa out.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Rocket you can see me in the kind chance.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
That music means one thing. We're going to hit over
to Australia and catch up with them. Man, Jim Dolan,
Good morning, Jim Craig. Well, I mean we said every week,
but the race for the top eight is getting tight.
It's just such a good competition in RL.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah, it's shaping up and the Sharks did a lot
of teams of favor yesterday. The Dolphins, the Knights, the
Broncos and the Raiders all back in the race after
the eighth place Dragons lost, meaning they're just two points
ahead of those chasing teams. With just the one spot
available in the eighth, it's mathematically impossible for any of

(00:58):
the other teams to fall out, So the Dragons are
really treading water and slight into their lives and the
others are on their way to get them. Kevin Molder
said the Broncos would be playing finals this year, so
maybe he's right. They didn't start well against Paramatta, but
they certainly finished well. Plenty of interest in it. Melbourne,
of course, got another minor premiership on the weekend and

(01:21):
it's looks the lad down, especially since the coach said
that he's probably going to rest a few players in
the last two rounds of the competition. In our role,
headquarters weren't like that, but there's nothing they can do
about it. And Ivan Cleary perhaps the most interesting statement
of the weekend when he said he doesn't care if
the Panthers don't even finish in the top four. He
believes they can still defend their premiership. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I mean that's the one that stood out to me
and the Panthers set forth. Now, I mean, you know,
not very often. I don't know what the stats were
used to be careable when you weren't in the top four.
You didn't when you didn't win the NRL. But I
suppose they're aside that knows what to do when they
get the finals rugby, don't they Rugby League, they know
what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Been in four Grand finals in a row, one to
three of them. Yeah, a fairly good idea. The next
six weeks right up there, Alley.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Well, if they get they've got to be in the
situation where they get themselves alive, because you don't want
to be having sudden death because that's the difference between
that top four and the bottom four, and.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
A week off two is a chance to rest up play,
especially when Nathan Cleary will probably play with an injured shoulder.
Another week will be like gold for him.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Rested up then Yeah, I mean, the Warriors said goodbye
to Shawn Johnson at home on Friday night and Roger
two of arsa Sheik went off with a no shoulder
to the head and the NRL admitted the Warriors got dubbed.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah. Yeah, Stephen Crichton, he's going to miss the match
for that shoulder charge and that's basically what it was.
He's just running there and gone bang on Roger two
of US. Roger probably won't play again this season. Crichton
gets a one match and people today are saying, oh,
at least he's still eligible for the dally M Medal.
He'll just lose three points for one suspension. But gee,

(02:59):
the game was pretty much on the line and that's
really been a thing that stopped the Warriors. The Bunker
official Liam Kennedy has already been stood down from matches
next weekend. Graham and Isley certain to include an apology
to the Warriors weekly briefing today. But I bet that
doesn't feel any better for Roger Tuartis check the coach,

(03:22):
Warriors players and Warriors fans knowing that there's just another
one they can tick off for the head that if
they want to get the US against them going, I
think just keep writing down these and putting him up
on the wall for next season or through pre season training. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I heard the coach afterwards. He wasn't happy about it.
But one thing I didn't like was that their CEO
kem and George came out and was making public opinion
about it. I just you know, your coach is there.
If you want him to go mad, say we'll pay
the fine. I just don't like seeing CEOs or general
managers and the public, you know, talking about those sort
of things. Jim, I don't know if.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
You heard that. Yeah, it's probably been a bit of
frustrat there. Yeah, probably regrets it today, but yeah it
can be tough.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah it can be that again.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, just you know, stay in your not in your office.
I don't mean that disrespectfully because Kim and George does
a lot of good things, but yeah, leave that one
to the coach or to the players or the captain.
A record number of ossies to cheer for the US Open.
Why is that?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
We've got twenty players in singles Flushing Meadow, twelve men
and eight women. That's the most men for quite some time.
Six players got through qualifying, so yeah, we're all pretty
excited about that. Although we know that most of them
will be cannon fired to the biggest, better players when
they come along, but it's it's still a fantastic yet

(04:40):
to get that many there. We're guaranteed to get one
assie through to the second round at least quiz to
play each other. That's always way that turns out. Like
demon Or is the man we're all cheering for. He's
the tenth seed now. It's his first game since he
withdrew from Wimbledon in the quarterfinals with the hippyary. He
was absolutely flying at Wimbledon before that injury brought that

(05:00):
to an end and stopped him from playing at the Olympics.
He's got the world number six. Markos, you're on in
the opening round. It's a little bit better for Alexi
Popra and another one of our hopefuls. He's seated in
a Grand Slam for the first time. He's twenty five
and plays Korean Sioux Won Kwan and he's been struggling
with the shoulder injury. So hopefully Alexi makes him serve

(05:23):
and reach for a few And yes, we're getting excited.
It sort of comes in at the right time in
the morning. It can get up and have your breakfast,
watch a bit of tennis, and yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
It's obviously so yeah, I mean Adam this morning. It's
always interesting watching you know. When we've got Lulu Sun
from a New Zealand point of view, Mountain said born
and bred to here when it comes to her history.
But obviously tennis is strong in Australia and the pathway strong,
and I suppose the inspiration to take up tennis is
still there.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, not as strong as in the nineteen sixties when
the Australians were fantastic and there's tennis courts in every backyard.
Land's too precious now, but yes, they're certainly doing a
lot of things right with the kids coming through and
there are certainly pathways and this is showing it now.
It's six qualifiers getting through that there'll be more kids
getting excited and looking potentially at the Grand slams for

(06:14):
next year.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, I read that. I know it's not on the script,
but I listened to an interview with Joe Smith and
the other day. I get the feeling that he's been
really well received in Australia and his style and the
way he speaks seems he's positive but he's realistic, he's honest,
but he understands where Australian rugby is at it seems
to be at the moment. He's fitting in nicely to
the fabric of Australian rugby to build them back to

(06:36):
where they need to be.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, and he's winning over the right people to Fish's
spoken at the weekend saying that he's basically Joe Smith.
Then the coaching staff admit and will publicly believe that
there are no areas that the Wallaby is a world
class in at the moment. So you know, he's not
sugarcating anything. There's plenty of home truths there and I
think it's just a learning curve how quickly people learn.

(07:02):
But yes, he's certainly doing all the right things at
the moment and we've got a couple of big years
ahead of us. So fingers crossed her with the man
to make improvements in leaps and bounds.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, and he's going to take on the All Blacks
after they've had two games in South Africa, so that's
going to be very interesting how that goes. Jim. I
appreciate your time this morning, Beak, be back with you
next week. It's always been good to chat in the
last couple of weeks with you.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Love to catching up Craig him great week.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
There we go. Yep, certainly well Jim Dolan out of Australia.
I'll go into the NRL. I'll break it down, but
the top top four Stormer flying forty two points, the
Roosters thirty six, the Sharks thirty six and the Panthers
thirty six and that's your top four. Then the Bulldogs
are on thirty four. But keeping on the Bulldogs
