Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk Heartland Rugby would just welcome in as we
do every week. We've got the Heartland on Kevin here,
Good morning, Kevin, how.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Are you good morning? Isn't it great?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Absolutely? And round two not as close as we spoke
about last week. A couple of close games, but I'm
still some good results when they start at the top
of what I've got. And anyway, Mid Canterbury too good
for the West Coast forty nine twenty one.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, well, I mean West Coast Haven won down in
n Ashburton since ninety ninety six, so ye know, and
as I said, a whole new squad. But they were
up against it. But I don't know what it is
about lash Vegas. I think there must be something in
the water there, but they just can't seem to get
over the line there.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
They did have a try just allowed at.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
One point which could have changed the game around a bit.
But now the weather conditions weren't that great either, so
but one they were unlucky not to walk away with
the bonus point West Coast and I did say Canterbury
would be quite strong this year.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah. I played international game on the Showgrounds. Actually I
played for hen and Shields under nineteen versus England under nineteenth.
There we go way back in there do we go.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
So much cricket and rugby crossover here?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
It's amazing King Country too good for Baller fifty four
to twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, first offense of the Bill Osborne to down there
at Westport, and now our uncle Bill was on his
way down to So I mean, great day. It was
awesome to see Buller, only the third people to hold
the trophy at the stage. They took her around and
they showed off, showed it off to all their sponsors

(01:39):
and and sans and stuff like that. They had an
awesome day down there at Westport. But again King Country
came to town and Buller hadn't been King Country in
several years either. But also they've always been high scoring
matches a bit closer, but King Country sort of pulled
away this time.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Around East Coast.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
This is the closest thirty hot a Feller compay twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, no one knew what actually happened here. It ended
up being twenty seven. All East Coast ended up saying
it was a full time twenty seven. All I'm going, Oh, okay,
they got rid of the bastardly golden point only for
five minutes later someone finding where to replug in the
video camera and then we see and then we see
that they did go the extra time. Yes, and East

(02:28):
Coast got a penalty thirty meters out and they did
what they did the bullet last year and escaped from
away from Home with a golden point victory thirty points
to twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
If I'm going to forty seven party thirty six.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, another one that didn't actually get to see the
end of because the life feeder had punked down on us.
It was a it was a lot closer than that
as well. Probably they were in the game for a while,
but they were unlucky not to get to two bone
points there. But woman only walk away with the away

(03:03):
victory on that day.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, be interesting. Next week South Canary played Mid Canterbury,
so that's going to be a good ding gone better
with the names in South Canterbury got the attack going
sixty nine to thirty two wire Rapper Bush.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
And so did wire Rapper Bush in the first half,
so it ended I'd been I think it was thirty
three thirty two at halftime.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Oh wow, I didn't know that.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, Wirerapper were down nineteen mil and then nick minute
they were up twenty six nineteen. It was like, hey,
what's going on here? It was an awesome game to
watch and just a click shout out to all the
South Canterbury supporters. I found out yesterday the freight of
Park is still not ready to be opened in times

(03:43):
for the North Otago game. So apparently the game against
king the next home game against King Country will be
played in Geraldine and then all and then all remaining
home fixtures will be played out at pleasant Points.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
So so then well, I mean I used to call
it Froser Park when I got so it's.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Still not ready. No, there's a issue with the new
terf apparently, so they are hoping that it might be
ready in time for finals.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
It's a nice grand out of Jordane actually used to
play cricket and rugby out there and then around it
out teams Valley the Fox has got up over North Otago.
They all goals twenty four to fifteen.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, at one point it was seventeen fifteen to teams.
But yeah, teams, we're playing in the golden north Otago,
We're playing in their blue and yeah, it was it
was a scrappy game. Neither team I believe got any
bonus points out of that, and the weather conditions were
you know, a bit rats as well. Really I can't

(04:45):
say the other word, and yeah, yeah rubbish, it was
rubbish the weather. Say yeah, but what has come out
at me after two rounds? And you will be interested
in this, I'm sure you're a statsman being a cricket Yeah, okay,
Ready for us, we've had two rounds of Heartland rugby
twelve games already, we've had ninety seven tries eight point

(05:10):
eight tries per game. It's seven hundred and forty three
points in total, which is over the twelve games, which
is sixty plus points per match. And we've already had
eighteen bonus points. That's one and a half points per game.
Why because we don't have tmos.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I even said the other day given that even the
NBC I loved it in the weekend because it was
attack minded and same with the Heartland Championship. I want
to see tries. I want to see I want to
see us playing on the front foot. I want to
see us attacking. And what you're mentioning there that's obviously
happening and also you've probably got referees and let the
game flavor.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yes, I won't mention which referee or which game it was,
but the referee did say that they do enjoy refee
Heartland Rugby because they can let the game flow all stop,
start and they can just let the game flow they
and they get to make the decision whether the person
got over the try try line or not or sort out.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
So that was really awesome. So just a quick look
ahead to this week because there's some time changes. The
wire Rapper Bush taken on North Otago that kicks off
at one o'clock at Marsterden and then at two o'clock
we've got East Coast hosting Poverty Bay for oh hell
on ma and I've just got this year too because
I said you like some stats for the one hundred

(06:32):
and seventy seventh time since nineteen twenty three and Poverty
Bay are one hundred and twenty eight to forty three
in the windsakes there, so it will be an interesting
match up there. But that has been played at Rotoria,
Mid Canterbury taking on South Canterbury and the Hand and
Shield and that's going to be at two o'clock at

(06:52):
Ashburton West Coast will be hosting Horeford NOLLA at John
Sturgeon at two thirty. Wanganui will be hosting Buller at
Cook's Garden at two point thirty, and then the Bill
Osborne is up for grabs again along with the Centurions
Cup at five thirty at Rugby Park, Antiquity between King
Country and Thames Valley, so we won't have any full

(07:14):
round results Untols seven o'clock.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Well, thanks, I appreciate your time, giving your insight and
all the passion you have with Heartland Rugby. Thank you
very much.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Cheers, thank you, bye, There we go, Givan here yep
