Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the sports field to the shearing shed. It's the
Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Gentlemen, you today, what can I do for you?

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Well, it's time to catch up with that friendly fruit
or a day David Stuart Pack in the Saturday morning David,
good morning, Brian, nice to see you that. Did you
have a nice holiday? Brian? Lovely holiday, lovely wedding in Japan? First,
my first visit. You've been to Japan before, haven't you.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I went to the World Cup over there. It's magnificent
to I love the place.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
So I in love with it. A lovely country. The
people are lovely, it's clean, the food's wonderful. Yes, and
your fruit and vegi's around the place.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Everything food is magnificent.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I think the thing that got me was that, you know,
things are cheap over there as well.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Really here's a lot of people and they can't important
and they grow a lot also. But yes, is a
good selection of produce et cetera to buy over there,
and the food is magnificent.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah. Absolutely, Well we're talking about now I've got it.
My wife has asked me to ask you a question.
Has a Sparrgus arrived yet, because spring is here. Spring
is here.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
We've been promised to spargus for two weeks now. It
was very very frosty while you're away, so that slowed
it down a little bit. There has some gone to Auckland,
of course, because that's where they go first, you know,
and into those supermarket people, which we won't talk about.
Theoretically ours over and Tottal and here we're getting it tomorrow.
There'll be rations sent around the countryside in the next
couple of days. So at the weekend years let me

(01:20):
know if she's coming in and we haven't got acause
I'll run out the back and hide the coolans. She
won't coming in.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Is it going to be a good asparagus season? Do
you know it will be? Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
It will be the products sitting in the ground waiting
to popp its hit up, but you know where there's
been up and down, so it's sitting there. It's very
early running first week or September, you know, really, and
so it'll be here new season. Aagara potatoes too, coming
out of pocket. Cowi sits another because the springs here mate,
you know in Ozzie strawberries have looked for those folks
because they're are cheap around the country around the five
dollar mark, and it gets you that taste ready for

(01:48):
ours coming on next month, five dollars through a punctive
strawberries all the way from Australia. It's got the nicest
thing they send us too. They don't seen this many
good things. Salad, salad's a reasonable too, iceberg lettuces, cheap
cucumbers are down in price, and avocados plenty, and they're
nice too good. Yeah, no, no, yeah, they're nice. I'm
normally not an early avocado fan, wait till later on.

(02:11):
But none of the good so have a look at those.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Another good season bang a season, yes.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yes, yeah, unfortunately the growlers, yeah, green veggie is plenty
of broccoli round cheap as cauliflower, celery leaks all out.
And the potatoes just spoke about those. Those new season
agri are beautiful too, They are really really nice. You
look at those. Wow, that's a potato, all right, that's
you're happy, So grab those, Grab those apples, the cheaper apples.
The supplies of those is going down. Actually, you know,

(02:35):
we are into September now. They've been the cool stores
for a while. So price will move up. On apples,
there are plenty of oranges around both Ozzie and New
Zealand ki we Fruit two good supplies. But again price
will move up as we go towards Christmas. Ozzie from Australia, beans, cousettes,
amandarins and strawberries.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Well, it's a big country over there, and they got
space to grow things.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
It is. Yes, my neighbors over there working at the
moment and helicopter flying under power lines. Oh no, I
don't know about that, but yes, huge area of land
and here's a great big soul of power set ups
and everything in the years, massive area, so lucky.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
You know, we're in four days into September, so springers
now here is getting warmer and warmer, and you can
feel that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
So, yes, things are growing, going to be in plentiful supply.
They will be and they're good and you'll be lovely
and they'll be you'll be happy.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
You can't grumble on the prices. They're very very good.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
And you can keep on talking about Japan for the
next month.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Oh no, I won't do that, I said. The only
thing I found in the world, one of the things
I found cheap over there was the beer. I mean
you can go to corner stores to two dollars fifty
three dollars a can which is well done, which is great,
and producer Mark went to the Asahi factory. He said
that was the best value for money tour he reckons
in the world. For ten dollars, you've got a two
of the one of the biggest breweries in the world,

(03:45):
You've got a glass and you've got two free beers.
How's that for value? You'd be happy. He was very happy,
very happy. Indeed. All right, David Stuart, the friendly fruiter,
I have a good week mate, Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
