Speaker 1 (00:00):
International rugby coverage on the Country Sport Breakfast is proudly
brought to you by Access Solutions, elevating you and your
business to a higher level. We're talking international rugby now
on the show, and just after three o'clock on Sunday morning,
the All Blacks go up against the old foe, the
spring Bok in the second test out of Cape Town.

(00:20):
This time we'll have a live commentary on Gold Sport
joining us on the show this morning. All Blacklock, Sam,
Darry Morning, Sam, very very well. More importantly, though, you
came through that first test okay out of Ellis Park.
All good.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, body chains are all good. Obviously you're pretty gussed
about the result. But yeah, I guess that's footy, and
you know we've got to weave it to work on
coming into this weekend. Write a few rols.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
What have been the big work ons this week Sam,
for the team.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
A lot of small things, a lot of a lot
of your basic stuff around a set piece. We've got
the stuff around our teching game and our teching breakdown.
And then also you know, addressing the alpement in the
room and how he finished the game. You know, because
probably for about fifty odd minutes there. We looked really
good and played some really good rugby and we just
probably off the gears.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's been a big year for you. Named in the
All Black team, playing a couple of tests against Fiji,
scoring your first try against Argentina, and now you're in
South Africa. So what's it like touring South Africa as
I guess a newbie in the team.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Oh mate, it's been incredible. It's been incredible. Heard a
lot about about the Satisfican tour is back in the
said rugby days. Unfortunately missed out on those, but to
kind of come over here and be able to experience
it, it's just awesome. You know. We we went on a
star last week, played an awesome golf course this week
and then here in Capetown and support has been incredible.
You know. Everywhere we go there people waiting outside wanting signatures,

(01:58):
the autographs. So just know say gooday, So an awesome
country and I'm loving being here.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
You got to run on last week off the bench
at Ellis Park, and of course Ellis Park famous for
the altitude. How did you find that rarefied air playing
in that air up there?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, definitely tough, definitely tough to be here. I think
by the time the weekend rolled around, they probably just
to a weave it. But early on in the week
when we had a few intense training sessions, you definitely
feel it. You know, you come off the field, your
mouth and throw to dry. Your lips are all chapped,
so no, you're definitely aware of it. I think the
boys who they started the game definitely would have would

(02:38):
have failed a bit more than I did. But now,
it was an incredible atmosphere, you know, despite the result,
probably one of the coolest games of rugby I've been
a part of. They do it very well over here
in terms of the whole kind of spectacle, so you
have an a credible experience.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Setting watching at home. I mean when you were doing
the Harker and the and the lead up to the kickoff,
the noise was absolutely incredible. What was it like standing
on the field there.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, it was felt pretty similar. Probably it's not it's
not louder, you know. Hearing them singer anthem was was awesome.
You know, they just really get behind it. And then
going to do the hacker. I was at the back,
in one of the back corners and I almost had
to look at TJ to make sure that you know,
I could could hear them because it was that loud,
you know, and I have to kind of see see

(03:26):
his mouth moving to be able to hear what I
have to do.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, absolutely fantastic. And of course you're up against the
world champions. Of course they're they're a pretty tough team.
And you know, you did pretty well in that first
half last weekend, didn't They're blacks.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, yeah, we did. But I mean, you know, being
being competitive athletes and being the all works, we sit
very high standards for ourselves and you know, being good
for forty minutes, you know it isn't good enough for us,
so obviously up a until it was best and that's
where you want to be as a competitor, is challenging

(04:03):
yourself against the world's guests. So yeah, it's exciting to
have another opportunity to go and test us over this weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It's one hundred and eighth time the All Blacks in
the spring Box have played each other in a test,
so that's got to be pretty special and you can
add yourself to that piece of history. So it must
be great as a young up and coming lock.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah, it's crazy to be a part of. You know,
as you say, kind of wouldn't have thought earlier this year,
but I would have been in this position. So I'm
obviously very very grateful for every opportunity to get to
run out there and as you say, kind of add
to the history and legacy of this great rivalry.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Well, we wish you the very very best of luck.
At least you'd be done at sea level. So that'll
make a bit of difference in Cape Town on Sunday morning,
won't it.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Sam Oh, definitely definitely, you know, kind of notice as
soon as that's training down here, it's definitely a bit
easier to breathe. But yeah, it's to exciting.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Comes with fantastic Sam. Hey, thanks for joining us, mate.
I'll let you go and good luck Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Thanks mate, Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Sam Darry joining us here on the show. Blues Blues
forward all Black Block and of course also plays for
Canterbury and I will continue our look at that Test
match after eight o'clock this morning. Elliot Smith will be
joining us live from Cape Town to get his take
on the team that has been selected with some key
changes
