Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on
Gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Stay away from Me.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
It is time to hit for a US correspondent Amy
Taylor out of Washington, d C. Good morning, Amy, Good
morning b K. How are you very well? Thank you.
How's the weather in DC today?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Oh, it's a stunner of a day, kind of a
cool fall day before summer comes back and slaps us again.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
It happens every every year.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
You think, oh, we're going into fall, this beautiful sunny day.
Woke up, put a jacket, my lightweight puffer on, took
the dog in a walk.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
But it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Summer's going to come back and smack us, and it's
going to go up to like, you know, thirty five,
thirty eight, something like that at some point.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
So I have to keep my hopes in check.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Interesting things going on at the moment, of course, with
the with the countdown to the US election. I was
thinking about it this morning. Not too far away, No, Vimber,
There's all sorts of things happening on the political landscape.
I'm not quite sure where to start, but Donald Trump's
niece has come out and made a couple of very
interesting statements about all forty five Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
All sorts of craziness. So Mary Trump is his niece,
not a favored niece, certainly by any stretch of the imagination.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
She has said.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Now, she's a psychologist, so she has some right to
make these statements.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
She said. He is dementing that.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
He's rambling incoherently so much lately that people really ought
to pay attention. He was asked a question at the
Economic Club of New York about making childcare more affordable,
and he just went on and on for several minutes,
as he's you know, known for doing, and they just

(01:50):
couldn't figure out what he actually said. I mean, it's
making it really hard in reporters to translate his ramblings
into something intelligible to report. On point, he brought up
something about foreign taxes, and I mean, you know, how
do you how do you relate foreign taxes to making
domestic childcare more affordable?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Is really just kind of a mystery to everybody. So
you know, it's curious.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Absolutely, it's going to be really interesting. He at tomorrow
our time, of course, the big well, the first presidential
debate between Kamala and Donald Trump, which will be fascinating,
won't it?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
It will because I think we're going to see some
of that rambling. And now the mics are supposed to
be muted, you know, when the other is talking. But
I did read something that the network is going to
retain the right that if there's you know, conversation debate
going on between the two candidates, they will turn it
back on. And Harris is hoping that that's gonna She's

(02:50):
going to catch Trump saying, you know, some kind of
hot mic moment, right, that's what she's hoping. And you know,
according to Mary Trump, that's probably going to happen. And
you know, all sorts of interesting things happening. I told
you it's kind of crazy. The judge who was supposed
to sentence him July eighteenth has pushed that sentencing back
to eleven twenty six in the interests of justice and

(03:12):
to ensure fair and partial and an a political distraction
free environment.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
So that's kind of interesting.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
And then there's this new ad for Harris called the
Best People or Republicans for Harris aka right of a
bunch of people that won't endorse him and say that
he's not trustworthy. All people that used to work for
the guy. Quotes and clips from Vice President Mike Penn,
Secretary of Defense Mark esper All, former Joint Chief of

(03:41):
Staff Mark Milly, national security advisor John Bolton, just trouncing him.
And then of course Vice President former Vice President Dick
Cheney came out and said that not only does he
not endorse them, he's going.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
To vote for Trump. But my favorite Republican quote was at.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
A Kensinger who appeared at the Democratic National Convention, and
he said Donald Trump has suffocated the Republican soul of
our party, which is why he appeared at the DNC
endorsing Kamala Harris.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
So, I guess the feeling over there now in the toolk,
on the streets around Washington and wherever you go is
basically is it the election of people starting to really
kind of get a bit of a buzz about it now?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Oh, I mean, it's all about the election right now.
And the I mean, if you look at the polls,
they are neck and neck. Kamala is leading in a
lot of the kind of key states, but it's within
the margin of error, so it's very close. But there's
this guy, Alan Lickman, who has predicted every presidential election

(04:48):
since nineteen eighty one except for the two thousand and
four and his predicting technique has nothing to do with polls.
It has to do with these thirteen true false big
picture questions. And if you listen to him, he's got
Kamala winning it.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Wow, it's it's a hot topic. That's so sure. We're
looking forward to the debate over here tomorrow. I mean,
great to catch up. You're off to take your daughter
to college. It's a big moment for you in the
in the household, really you lose your daughter.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It is, it is, But she's ready. I'm super excited
for her.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
She's kind of going to an environment that's as close
to New Zealand, I think as she could get. People
keep saying, oh, University of Washington, she couldn't get any.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Further away from you, huh.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
And I was like, actually, it's a lot closer than
I thought she was going to be. I thought she
was going to be in New Zealand. So we're very excited.
So it'll be it'll be a fun trip.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Great to catch up. Amy, have a great weekend. We'll
talk again soon.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Thanks. Have a good one.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
