Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold Sport. Now,
I suppose we start with the cricket four o'clock this
afternoon out of Gold Sri Lanka. First off, yeah, we
actually hold off the press news coming out of Egypt.
Paul Coley's won through in the quarterfinals of the not
Egypt so in Paris who was playing an Egyptian. So
he's through the semifinals of the Parish Squash Open winning

(00:23):
eleven eight, ten, two ten, twelve, eleven to eleven eight
and fifty eight minutes. So he'll book himself into the
semi finals of that event, doing very well. And yep,
as you mentioned, we've got a whole lot of cricket
actually starting at four o'clock is India and Bangla Desk.
Day two of that first Test match are India noses
in front and that one about three hundred and sixty
for six through day one of that one. They were

(00:45):
in a bit of trouble early on about forty one
for three, but fought back and that one. Then yeah,
four thirty, right after you watch half an hour of
India Bungler Desk, it's day three of Sri Lanka and
the black Caps, which is pretty evenly poised. We've kind
of got our noses in front, which is good to see.
We've never won in this Test venue before. I think

(01:05):
we're over five, which we be awesome. We can get
some World Test Championship points in this victory, so they
are four p thirty for that one. Weather dependent. It's
always a bit scratchy at this time of the year
over there. And then round seven of the Bunnings Warehouse
MPC kicks off this evening live here on gold Sport
five past seven. It's Hawks Bay and Tartannaki. Hawks Bay

(01:27):
coming up two straight losses, losing the shield and then
getting absolutely destroyed by Wai Kido last week fifty points
to five. Tartannaki coming up a loss against the Steamers,
so both looking to win their fourth and fifth respectively
on the standing, so that's going to be a ripper.
Then at nine point thirty this evening Singapore Grand Prix
practice one. First time you'll see the cars out in
anger on the street circuit in Singapore with it's not

(01:50):
looking too good for the weekend at Singapore, which always
adds to specially a street race, so that should be
a rare Rapper. Twenty minutes after that at ten to ten,
it's Finals Week two of the NRL the Elimination Final,
the Sharks hosting the North Queensland Cowboys at at Alliaints
Stadium in Sydney. We've got plenty of golf as well.
Second round of the BMWPGA Championship from Wentworth at ten thirty,

(02:15):
first the Key with Daniel Hillyer he'll tee off and
then eleven twenty five defending champion our Boy Ryan fox Foxy.
He's teeing off for a real star studded group of
Rory McElroy and Justin Rose. So a lot of TV
time for Foxy, which is always good. One o'clock in
the morning. Saturday morning practice too from Singapore and then
more golf to look forward to. Lidico she'll be in

(02:37):
the second round of the Queen's City Championship in Ohio.
She's just about to tee off for the round one,
will keep you up to date throughout the morning and
that one and then Steven Elker He's round one of
the Pure Insurance Championship at the famous course in California,
Pebble Beach and the champions to Motorsport we've got as
per normal, like every single weekend, Shane ban Gisbergen's in

(02:57):
action with the NASCAR. He's with the Exfinity boys this season,
not racing with the big boys. They are in Bristol
Motor Speedway in Tennessee six forty for qualifying for that
one and then eleven thirty for a race that they're
getting done pretty short and sharp. This weekend for the
Xfinity Series NPC Round seven continues and we've got a
big one two rivals, Northland and North Harbor kicking off

(03:18):
Saturday's action. That's five past one. All these games are
a bit of a different times than your normal Saturday
games because of the All Blacks test being accorded to six.
So drop these ones down. Five past one. Northland are
hosting North Harbor up and Fang today. That'll be live
here god Sport, Canterbury and Counties Manecow. Five past two
for that one down in christ Church, and then three

(03:40):
thirty five the one that we're excited for Wellington and
the Bay of Plenty Steamers. That's number one verse three
on the standings. That should be a wrapperd coops on
the call for that. One fun fact about that one.
Wellington has a bay of plenty of who they've won
LEAs to games, they've only been in Wellington six times
and they're sort of one hundred and eleven year career,
So come on the Steamers. That's let's make it game

(04:02):
number seven for a victory against the Lions Fair Apartment
Cup Northern and why Kettow. That's at three point thirty
five on Saturday afternoon, and then we've got day three
of those cricket tests with India and Bangladesk and then also,
oh it's right, it's Saturday. The day off for the
cricket for New Zealand might be over there years because
it's a six day or isn't it. It is no

(04:24):
cricket for the black Caps on Saturday, that's from my understanding.
Of the polls open in Sri Lanka. They'll be electing
a new whatever they call it, prime minister, president, all
of the above. So no cricket to look forward to
on Saturday. But I've got something else to cover you
for Saturday actions the All Blacks five forty five from
out of Stadium Australia in Sydney, caught of the six.

(04:45):
We've got it live here in gold Sport. That is
going to be a rapper. First Bladerslow Cup Test of
the year, Osire looking to win the bladers Loow Cup
for the first time in twenty two years. Looking forward
to hearing from Ben Darwin later on in the show
who was in that team in two thousand to that
hoisted the bledders Low Cup. That was the last team
to ever do it. Which is incredible to think that,

(05:06):
what's the whole generation of sports fans or rugby fans
in Australia have never seen their side win the bleedders
Low Cup. More international rugby though to look forward to
throughout the night. On Saturday on at seven o'clock, you've
got the United States of America playing Samai in the
third place playoff at the Pacific Nations Cup. That's in Osucer.
And then the final of that one kicking off five

(05:28):
past ten Fiji and Japan also in Osaka. That should
be a ripper. On Saturday night, the Breakers season, the
AMBL season of twenty twenty four and twenty twenty five
gets underway. A bit of a funny one this one.
Breaks are playing the Brisbane Bullets and all places they're
playing in Perth all the games are in Perth this weekend,
so there's sort of like a little bit of a
magic round like they do in the NRL, so all

(05:49):
games in Perth. So yeah, there's got to be about
a two o'clock tip off local time for the Breakers.
Will we'll see how they their season goes. It's a
bit up in the air at the moment, but yeah,
a bit of a tough preseason losing all three of
those games. But yep, all teams start at zero for
zero are heading into round one, so we'll see how
the break is going. That one Formula one practice session

(06:10):
Session three nine point thirty on Saturday night and then
at ten to ten that's the second of the elimination
finals in the NRL. Just two playoff games this weekend.
We've got the Sydney Roosters. They're hosting the Manly Sea
Eagles again out at Elliott Stadium in Sydney. That should
be a ripper fingers and toes cross at Daniel Helly
and Ryan Fox make the cut at the BMWPGA Championship

(06:31):
and they'll be playing throughout Round three and four on
Saturday and Sunday night, respectively. Formula one qualifyings at one
o'clock on Sunday morning. A whole host of English Premier
League to look forward to as well, starting eleven thirty
between West Ham's Chelsea. Whole host of games at two o'clock.
There's one, two, three for five. Six games of that
one in Crystal Palace and Manchester United round out the

(06:54):
Sunday morning's action of the English Premier League. That's at
four thirty. Rugby Championship that can con tin news as well.
At nine o'clock on Sunday morning, we've got Argentina hosting
South Africa. Who knows what argentin the inside will show up.
I know South Africa is seen. Took kind of a
bit of a B team over to that one, so
Argentina could shock the defending world champions. We'll seat nine

(07:16):
o'clock for that one. Farah Palmer Cup we're starting eleven
thirty five. This is the first of the triple hitter
at Eden Park this Sunday. We've got the Auckland Storm
and the Hawks bay Tilly five past twelve on Sunday,
bat Planty Volcanics are playing Canterbury out of Rhode Ua
and then we've got a Grand Final. Many were two Cyclones,
Otago Spirit there in the championship final in the Farah

(07:37):
Partment Cup. That's at four point thirty five out of
Palmerston North. NPC continues five past one Waikato and Tasman
out of Hamilton, T five Auckland and Southland at Eden
Park and also at too five. It's menu were two
hosting Otago out of Palmerston North. Day four. They've had arrest,
they've all voted on the Sri Lankan election and they'll

(07:57):
be playing day four out of Gaul. That'll be again
four to thirty start. Indian Bangladeshmi in day four as
well in Chennai. That's a four o'clock start for that one.
The second of three to twenty cricket series against New
Zealand and Australia, the Woman's stuff before they head to
the World Cup. That's at ten past nine on Sunday evening.
New Zealand time. Just quickly Heartland Rugby. We've got round

(08:21):
six of the People's Competition West Coast East Coast. The
two coasters are kicking it off at two o'clock on Saturday,
two thirty North Otago, Mid Canterbury. Also at two thirty
Poverty Bay, King Country, Thames Valley and Bulla and wang
A Nui and the Wide Apple Bush, all of those
games at two thirty and then Sunday the special one

(08:42):
out of Eden Park Horofanua Carpady in South Canterbury four
five on Sunday afternoon, the triple header that's going to
be awesome stuff in South Canterbury. Win that one. That's
the largest winning streak in Division two or Division three
rugby and through heartland in there New Zealand rugby history.
That will go up to about thirty nine game winning
streak about eighteen hundred and six days since the last loss,

(09:05):
which is incredible action pack weekend, that's for sure,
