the Wallabies they go at each other again this coming
weekend in Wellington. Not a happy playground really for the
All Blacks. Five past seven Live year on Gold Sport
out of Sky Stadium for Bledislow number two. Joining us

(00:22):
on the show this morning for All Black Frank Once Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Frank Morning Morning, right, first up.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Your thoughts on the on the ABS and that Bleaterslow
Cup Cliff Hanger on Saturday thirty one, twenty eight. What
do you think?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Oh ye, probably the same as just about every other
you know All Black fan. Yeah, you know, we really
really disappointing. You know, we start off obviously, started off
really well and you know, I got all excited and
you know, you start thinking even even you know, ten

(00:57):
minutes in you're thinking a pause, he's going to get
an't you know, where is it going to end? Jeez?
And then we've lost our way with you know, really disappointing.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
So why do we lose our way? What happened?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
It's it's really hard to know, you know, it's it's
obviously it's got to be mental because you know where
you can't tell me that where we're not as fit
as as everybody else. Yeah, you know, so where do
we just lose our focus a little bit? You know,
do we I'm not really sure that. You know, in

(01:34):
a Test match you get comfortable, you know, I know,
you know it happens in other matches, but not in
Test matches where you get comfortable and you think, oh,
well we've done enough. Ye you know, we're going to
be We're going to be fine. It's I think it
is just a matter of focus. You know, it takes us.
It's only little little things, you know, little moments where
you know, drop balls and most passes and things like that,

(01:55):
and then it all sort of compounds and and you know,
and it is it is in You go through a
game and it's all you know, it runs in cycles.
You have your you have your good you know, ten
fifteen to twenty minutes, and then the opposition comes back
and they have their lot, and you know, it goes
around and around like that for a bit.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
The Aussi's obviously had a good talking to it halftime
because they did come out firing.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Didn't they exactly?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, And you know and sometimes it is like and
I guess with the All Blacks, your up much and
you go out and you're not really prepared for you know,
for an onslaught, and then the Aussies, you know, on
the other end, you get you know, you get ripped
up in the rooms and you come out right and
then you know, it's a few couple of little things

(02:43):
and you know, in the momentum changes and it's really
hard to get yourself back.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Into it going forward. Then have you seen enough? Let's
let's take Damien McKenzie as an example. Damien McKenzie is
an international first five. You think he may be dropped
for this weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Well, it's possible. I think, you know, they may, they
may they want to move Bowden Barritt back there, but
you know, back into that position, I should say, but
you know, it may be maybe an opportunity to give
you know, to give another style, you know, with the
likes of Harry Plumber, you know, gives give another style

(03:20):
a chance and see where kind of that takes us.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
It's interesting they're bringing the professor Wayne Smith then this
week to sort of give them a few week tips.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yes, yes, yes, I mean you know I read some
of that. I think it was one of the one
of the coaches, the All Black coaches, said that he's
he's been saying that he hasn't watched too much rugby,
but then when you get talking to him, it's, mh
not been the case. But yeah, it's going to be

(03:52):
a healthy, huge, huge experience in terms of in terms
of playing and coaching.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
They don't call him the professor of nothing, do they?

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
So's through Frank through the first seven tests in the
Scott Robertson lead era. What have you made of it?

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I think it's you know, I'm not a I'm not
a matter. I think you look at we had pretty
tough start with with England, got through that, but you know,
I think, hm, and you know, even some of my
friends are saying different things. You know, the bubbles burst

(04:34):
already and you know all this all this stuff about
about Razor. But you know, I think you've got to
say that even in South Africa, you know, we we
totally outplayed the spring Book, you know, in both games really,
you know, we until you know, the last the last
quarter of the game or the last third of the game,

(04:57):
you know, and he's he's, he's he's got to good
young guys that have come in. Uh yeah, so I
think we're I think we're going along pretty well. I
think well enough, you know, give them a little bit
more time. Although this, you know, the season, the end
of season tour is going to be a pretty tough one.
But yeah, we've made some you know, made some.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah that the end of season tour doesn't get any
easier than that one. Really as a form more all black. Frank,
with fifty five tests to your name, you'd have played
in a few Bladerslow Cup games. Talk us through what
the difference is between say a Bladerslow Cup Test and
a normal test.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well, the biggest thing is that, you know, it's against
the you know, the mates across the across the nets there. Yeah,
it's that you know, that that big major rivalry, you know,
and it is you know, this is one of the
one of the one of the times where we can't
be called a little brother, I guess, but you know,

(06:03):
it's just it's just a great it's just a great
opportunity to you know, to play for something that that's
you know, both countries hold dear, and and it's been
you know, it's been around for a long long time.
But it's really it's just the what's the word I'm
looking for. It's just the competition, you know. Yeah, and

(06:26):
you know that everyone's up for it. It's great that
it's Australia, you know, it's great. It's great that you know,
both teams are going to be you know, it's always
one hundred percent and you you're really you're really not
too sure, you know, and it brings out it brings
out the best and you know, and a lot of people.
So always great games and these these are great people.

(06:46):
You know, they give everything and and then you just
turn around and you have a laugh in a couple
of years afterwards and the mates, you know. So it's
a special occasion.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Actually twenty two years since Australia has had their hands
on the cup. Can you put a finger on what
what what's gone wrong and Ausi rugby in the last
twenty years or so?

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Oh man, that's that is a big is a big question,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Well, you know, I think you know, it's amazing that
they've done you know, as well as they have, you know,
to be honest. They may they may not be very
very high in the in the world rankings, that they
always put together they always managed well more often than not,
they managed to put together, you know, a team that
can that can really really compete. You know, it's and

(07:33):
it's it's almost the drigs. You know that they're competing
against so many other sports, you know, so many other
things you know going on, and you know, I don't
know that they've got a really strong, you know, national
sort of rugby program and you know with with club

(07:55):
and provinces and super rugby stuff, and you know that's
been up and down for years and years. But you know,
they always tended international an international levels. You've got to
you've got to look out for them.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
As Joe Smid the man to bring them back, is.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
He well, I think I think I think he's making strides.
He's sees you know, he can't doubt his pedigree either.
And you know, I thought Dave Rennie was doing really
well until they they made that that crazy twitch back
to Edits for the World Cup. But you know, I
do think I do think if they're really you know,

(08:28):
I I quite admire rugby always up the style that
they played. You know, they throw the ball around and
have a go. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, it's a it's
a an uphill battle.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
I think absolutely. Well, maybe they'll they'll come at us
again on Saturday. Frank, thank you for joining us. Mate.
Enjoy Saturday's Test.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I will do tears brood.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
On Frank Frank Bunt, former All Black on the struggles
of the the ABS and Australia for that matter. Looking
forward to it and of course the commentary on the
match here on Goldsport on Saturday Night. Out of Wellington,
Elliott Smith with the
