Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the sports field to the shearing shed.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport.
We have no bananas.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
We have no bananas today.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
String beans and.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Then it's time for our friendly freer. David Stewart was
some very very good news for us this morning. It's
going to rain morning, right, you want the vegetables will
be loving that rain right across the country.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Really warm weather, the warmest weather and the nice rain. Yes,
I'll be happy. As asparagus especially is coming on and
go up this morning in the email. All prices down
a little bit really even it's getting better years you
should be paying maximum five dollars a bunch.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
That's good. It's getting better.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yes, and give it two weeks time and there'll be
lots around. You'll be more than happy.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
That's fantastic. You do have issues and the cold weather
snap we had a week or so ago has had
an effect on some vegetables. It is.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
You know, we're a very small country in New Zealand.
You fly over the top and see both sides you
so last week the weather was horrible as frosts and
hail them. There mean no baby spinach available in the
market's ready for a week now. It's been very tough. Yes,
over in Cambridge and Pooky and down south do they not?
Some yes, but others know. And so the weather has
knocked it around, has been very limited, if any, supplies

(01:14):
very very limited, like ration. But yeah, so we do
get affected, you know, and this little things happen, and
that's what happens. Bang, we're missing.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
So just to hold hold your horses for spitch.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
That's right. Just go for the table spinners. You'll be right.
But no disparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, plentiful supplies. Prices are very
reasonable there, salad's good news here to make capskins, they
were like four and five dollars each a couple of
weeks ago. Now the two if that?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Wow? And yeah, so this is.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
What happens and you go in the market. Ah, there's
a lot of capsicums there. This is gonna be interesting
to see what happens the next couple of days. Cucumbers
the same, iceberg, Lettuce is too, very plentiful, and tomatoes
still waiting. Cherry tomatoes a reasonably priced campari tomatoes, but
the ore the nice ones we talked about that before. Yeah, tomatoes,
tomato is another couple of weeks, should be right there. One
thing look forward to about is berry season. There is

(01:58):
some nice strawberries and blueberries available on markets at the moment.
Go for the jumbo blueberries if they're not well. They're
reasonably priced around the six to seven dollar mark. But
you know, they're very very nice because you like blue blue.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
With my musley such a healthy person, I know, I
know every day and strawberries kaipaking over in the white
cattle over there growing nice indoor strawberries are very very
good too, must I had some young ones and yesterday
we treated to a chip of strawberries. They are very happy.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh fantastic. I saw a story and I think it
was in the Herald today where it's almost official now
that New Zealand grow three prices and I guess that
would include fruit and vegetables are now officially one of
the dearest in the world, ahead of Australia, England, Ireland,
you name it. We're being Yeah, we.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Are a very small country that I remember that. I
just said that, you know, and like it's a little
bit tricky. You know, these people have got access to
markets that we're in a population too. You know, there's
only a few of us here. What's in Australia twenty
oddmitted and we're five and we're lucky.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
We do need a little bit more competition, do you
think on the supermarket front.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I'm not going to comment on that because it's a
business talk about the banks. They make enough money, that's true. Hell,
good luck with that one.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
There we go. So it's all good news, really it
is too.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Fruit apples, plenty of good apples around still, oranges j
Zeland and Australian, Australian mandarins and USA grapes, lots and
lots of grapes, very very reasonable planets. And grapes are
buy color ones whatever, green or red. And melons Ozzie
melons are coming and reasonably priced too, not too bad.
Another bit of watermelons yesterday, nice too.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
So as the weather warms up, you're going to get
just reasonably.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
And you're all gonna be happy, you know, walking and
there's nice stuff to buy, and everything's cheap. Hairs and
people they'll stop grizzling.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Absolutely good.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Well, there is our friendly fruit or he is cheery today.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
David Stewart, Thanks David. We'll see you next week. Thank you, Brian.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
We have no bananas today that string beans and onions
and big juicy lemons and.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
All kinds of fruit.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
In sane we've got enough fashion tomato.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
There we go, Yes it is, and holdie that one
that's
