Speaker 1 (00:00):
Eight.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
This is the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Sport, joining us out of Farm Advises and Egg Safe
New Zealand. As he does on a Monday morning, is
Jim for Late Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Jim and good morning Brian. Out of the.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Mighty Way, Keddow. You had some wins and losses across
the weekend. Farre aparmer Cup, White Kaddow winning that one
over Canterbury.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yes we did, but then we lost against the Canterbury
in the next one around the girls.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Wonder the boys lost, that's.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Right, absolutely and I see marks by Plenty got through
as well. They had a good win.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Oh there was a crazy game. That was a crazy
game of rugby yesterday. Alright, let's before we actually look
at the markets. I mean another bit of good news
out of last week with Global Dairy Trade.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Auction absolutely that it lifted just a little bit of
this last week and the whole milk powder was up
three percent, which is really good. The skim milk was
down a little bit, but it was down a little bit,
and Tedda lifted up three went eight percent. The whole
movement was a little bit better than what we thought
it was going to be and it really underpins the

(01:07):
gate milk price that's been offered for this coming season. Ryan,
So that's very very pleasing, and there's a fair amount
of confidence out there with the farmers at the moment.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
The meat schedules there, they're fairly steady at the moment.
How the market's looking, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
They are sitting pretty steady. You know. The dollar's been
steady for a wee while as well, and the thought
that the lamb paps could have moved up a little
bit more hasn't happened yet, but there's still time for
them to come in the market. So if we quickly
run through them. Our eighteen kg yxlam in the North
Island is seven dollars twenty and in the South of
seven dollars eighty. Our twenty one KGMX mutton is three

(01:42):
dollars in the North and three in the south. Our
P two steer, the two seventy to two ninety five
kg sphere the six seventy five in the North and
six thirty five in the South. Our bona cow, the
one sixty to one ninety five kg boner, is five
dollars in the North and four dollars forty five in
the South. The two seventy to two ninety five kg
ball is six fifty in the north and five dollars

(02:02):
eighty in the south, and now Venuson is very steady.
The sixty kg stag is eight fifty five in the
north and eight seventy five in the south.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Bryan, your weekly rant in your newsletter, you touch on
a group in the White Catto called Mail Support Services
of Whitecadow.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
There as I have, I was at a meeting a
few weeks ago and the Advantage of came and gave
us a bit of a presentation about what they do.
And of course mental was Mental Health Awareness Week last
week and it was very very timely. I suppose that
Mike came and spoke to us about this particular group
and the work that they're doing there. And they're getting

(02:41):
a caravan to head out around in the country areas
and they'll be parked on somewhere like on rights in
sort of four court or perhaps at the local country
hall or something, and really was saying to people, you
know they go and have a bit of a chat
with them, even if you feel as though you don't,
the fact that someone who needs them might see you
wander in there and have a bit of a chat
and think, oh, well, you know, Brian Kelly's in there,

(03:01):
and I know he's a good strong fellow, so perhaps
I could go into and you know, it's that sort
of reinforcement to people that it is alright to go
and have a bit of a chat with some of
these guys and get some help because it's tough out
there on the farm right.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Well we've seen that now just with the reason with
a bomb that hit the hit the Otager Kluther region
and that's pretty tough down there for the farmers, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
It really is. And that's on top of south and
having sort of four times it's annual rainfall over the
last winter, and you know, there's a lot of stuff
going on. And there's one of the local vets down
there sent out a bit of a paper last week
about all of this as well, and he said they
went out to see their clients and they took them
soup and buns instead of an account, and he said
it was very nice for them to be able to

(03:45):
sort of have a chat on a decent sort of
personal level with the people and provide them with that
support that a lot of them really need.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, that's a nice touch, it really is. Hey, you'm
always good to catch up mate. Have a great week
and we'll talk again next week.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Good thank you, Brian, and a goodbye to the listeners.
And yeah, this rain disappears pretty quick.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah we do too, Bring on the sunshine and the warmth.
