about the match they played together just a fortnite ago
and Counties actually smashed the lines fifty one twelve and pookakoe.
So how do you see this one playing out tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah? That was a crazy result, wasn't it. Wellington and
been traveling pretty well. They just missed out on the
ram for the shield and maybe there was a little
bit of a back there. I don't know, but I
only it'll be quite that score tonight, So I think
the major interest here will be in the battle of
the halfbacks andam Roy Guard who made such a marvelous
comeback last week against Mano or two. He of course
will start for Counties Manicaw and Wellington have announced they're

going to play t J. Perrina up against them, so
this will be intriguing, I really will. I think on
paper Wellington should win. They seem to go pretty well
in the Capitol, but boy Counties Mancaw have come up
with some great results this year.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yeah, it's sort of one of those games you're really
not sure which it's going to go, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yeah, you're right, you're right. There's a real unpredictabilisbia at
the NPC this year. There's been some absolute huntinger results,
really ones that you just haven't seen coming.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Alrighty, So that's the first game and we'll have a
live commentary of that game if you can't watch it
on sky Sport when there's Bo calling it tonight five
past seven on gold Sport. So the one we can't
wait for is the Battle of the Bays, the Mighty
Bay and Pretty Steamers up against hawks By. It's a
replay of last year's quarter final that saw Hawks by win.
So how do you see that one playing out.

Look, I mean really impressed. Will Bay have plenty of
this year? My old Piniki mate Richard Whatt is coaching
and it's doing a really good job up there. And
of course they get Basilio Tossi back and I was
actually in Tarror about three weeks ago when he played
I think it was against Taradaki and he made a
huge difference. He is an all back for a few
years to come. I'm telling you, and I think and

I did the Hawks Bay last week and they started
really well against Wellington. They are twenty one mill up,
but in the end they got a bit of a hiding.

They have had a funny ohole season, haven't they. I
mean they started out strongly, held the ran fairly year.
Once they lost it, they had some terrible defeats.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah they did, they did. They had a couple of
and then they had a last minute win against Auckland
and we thought I'll maybe have turned it all around again.
And then they came to Wellington last week and as
I said before, they got out to this huge lead
and then completely lost the plot. And so look, I
think they have plenty can feel pretty confident about this one.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Well, let's hope. So Saturday night sees the new ran
Filly shield holders and defending champions, Taranaki hosting Why Katto.
My producer Mark tells me Taranaki, you're on a ten
game home winning streak. They haven't been beaten at home
for ten games.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah. Look, they are a pretty good team and they'll
be looking at the double now. I mean they've got
their anfully shell safely tucked away in New Plymouth for
the summer, and so their next goal, of course is
to try and defend the title they won last year
in that final against Talks Day Why Catto. I have
been a wee bit up and down this year. They've
been a little bit hard to predict, like a lot
of teams. Whereas as you say, Taranaki have got this

home advantage, they've also got Stephen Pea fed back in
the mix. Mind You've got Jacobson and fee Now back,
so that'll boost their Ford pack for sure. This should
be a good battle the two major unions for the
Chiefs saying, oh, I hang on, they have plenty of
better not say that.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
No, don't no, don't let's talk Sunday Battle of the
Crusaders region. This is a big brother versus little brother,
isn't it. Tasman Canterbury.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, depends very much on how Tasman are recovered from
losing the Ramfony Shield last week. I suspect they will
be right up for this because there's no love lost
at all. A lot of all blacks coming back here
black Adder and heavily for Tasman, and of course for Canterbury.
They get Bell, Newell and Dowry back and they'll need
them too. It's been a really up and down season
for Canterbury. They've had the odd hiding, particularly against North Harbor,

and I'm not sure they've quite got the depth Canterbury
and Tasman has home advantage. I'm going to look at
Tasman here and what of season has been.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You alluded to that at the beginning of our we chat.
You know, the likes of Auckland North Harbor all missing.
And it's been one hell of a season, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Look I mean it's ironic, isn't it. The Blues win
the Super Rugby and the three major teams, the Northland,
North Harbor and Auckland can't even make the top eight
of the MPC. I can't work that out.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, it is a crazy season. Well, have a good
