Speaker 1 (00:00):
A week with f MG on gold Sport, because where
there's a wool is away.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Well, this week we are celebrating wool with five days
really of dedicated features focusing on our farming communities and
the world class wool products that they make. And in
fact we're going straight to probably the sharing shad at
the moment. Actually Toby William's joining us Federated Farmers Meat
and one morning, Toby, you're sharing the hoggets today?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Have been sure? Yeah, I actually come back home to
annoys in our shap but you shares playing your awesome
music and we've got four hand pieces wrapping away.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
What time do they start? They got underway this morning.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, they started about quarter to seven now, guys, so
they're they're they are about quarter five sex get themselves
ready to go, stretched, warmed up and crack into it.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
And how many hoggots you have to share today?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
There's only about seven hundred because we've had a bit
of a disaster and family and got on with them
and quite a few of lands, so she's a few
scattered around the farms.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
So unfortunately, all right, well we're going to be celebrating
wool this all this week here on the show, and
I think we've got something to celebrate, really, haven't we
with with wool in New Zealand?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
It is.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
And what was the you know, the fiber that the
world needs. You know, we look at plastic and what
that does to our environment as the walls the obvious
ads to conspire a gradeable as fire card and it's
got everything you could possibly want going for it.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
So how do we get that message out there in
the marketplace that wool is the product because you know,
it's still much in the fairy much in the dold rooms,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah it is. It's a problem. It's really tough for
fush farmers and trying to get you know, a you know,
a return dec out of it. And what we're finding
now is that the wolves actually run out and our
stores and our sheds there's no more wall sort of coming.
And so hopefully that to sign that ours exporters who

(01:56):
are buying and actually to start paying a little.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Bit more for what was go I know that the
are carpet manufacturers now that are getting away from the
nylon and getting into the wall. We want more of that,
don't we?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
We certainly do. Yeah, but there's there walls any more innovation,
we can't read expect to live our lives as in
farmers you know, just off the back of a carpet now,
and there's there's a lot of innovation happening. We know,
wall sauce, who've got you know, their potential for like
ink out of wool and things. Got that. There's lots

(02:27):
of innovation happening in this space. So hopefully farmers can
just hang on for a little bit longer and you know,
and make wall great again.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
We see on country calendar quite often a lot of
a lot of farmers and their wives are doing interesting
things with wall sort of you know backyard home industries,
aren't they?

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah they are, And look at that's brilliant. Any any
innovation with all is great. But you know you've got
a questions to how many ball blankets and how many
juviases can you sell it? You know, the stories are amazing,
you know, and I really take my hand off and
look at honest walks supposed one of the best examples
of of taking their wall and making insulting it and
making it into those amazing bags and things. Got that.

(03:06):
So there's there's really great innovation out there. Which is
fantastic if you've got a large wall clip, you know,
and you've got to really creative people in your family
and you're willing to take a chance. But for most
of us that we reliant on our brokers and and
our auction houses to actually drive it returns for us.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Toby, do you see lights at the end of the
tunnel and they're not too distant future?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, well, half a week ago i'd probably say, you know,
the light is very dim. I think they're start to
bright up a little bit, So it's there. It's still
a long way to go. We've got to see some
real improvement this season. So we're just coming into mainshare
really in the North Island starting in the next month.
And if what overseas customers say is that our walls

(03:48):
the most desirable in the world, and they'd better start,
you know, putting hands deep down into your pockets and
bringing their big dollars out to pay for it. Otherwise
we had to continue to see farmers choose to go
to sheoting sheep or you know, worst case than are
planty flowers and pine trees.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yeah, we don't want that to happen where there's the
wallers away and we're here all weak to tell the stories. Hey,
thank you for joining us, Toby. Will you get back
to the sharing the hoggits mate.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, brilliant.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Thanks for supporting wall We ka absolute pleasure. Thanks to
FMG as well. We're right right behind worldwik It is
such a great product, So if you can possibly, if
you're putting carpet in the house, for instance, go the
