Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tot to Talk Netball Now on the show. The Silver
Ferns have thrashed Australia as we know sixty four point
fifty in the first Constellation Cup test match in Wellington
on Sunday. New Zealand's dominant display puts them one mill
up in the four match series. Game two is on
tonight live here on gold Sport from seven to thirty
this evening. Joining us on the show this morning. Silver
(00:22):
Ferns defender Karenberger. Morning, Karen, good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
How are you doing well?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
A dreams start to the series. What's changed since going
down to England only a matter of a couple of
weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Gosh, yeah, we knew we had it in ourselves. It
was just whether we can execute it. So really good
that we were able to start that series like this.
But I guess the task ahead of us now as
to try and ensure that we keep going and we
keep improving and keep putting out of performance like that
in the next three as well.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
That extra edge really showed from the mid court performance
to Grace Nowiki in the shooting position. It was almost
the perfect game from the side.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I think there is the one percent of things
in our mindset that was letting us down. We've physically
always been capable. We've got fit and healthy group of girls,
and everybody is willing and and keen. It's just about
connecting it and everybody being connected. We've got a really
good group that is well connected off court, but we
just haven't been able to do that and show that
(01:23):
on court as well. Tough week leading in having some
tough conversations amongst the groups, not just players but with
management as well. What we needed to do make those
shifts and I think even though those are uncomfortable positions
to be and discussions to have, it was very much
needed and I think that gave us that extra edge
to show our potential and the.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Biggest win over Australia in fourteen years. Playing an incredibly
physical game on defense Charity field. You almost beat the
Elsies at their own game.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Oh gosh. We know we aren't going to come up
against them. It's going to be a physical game and
not just needs to really hitting each other, but also
just in terms of the running race. You know, they're
a very split team as well, so we know we're
fit enough to you know, stand up towards that and
against that. But it's about whether we were able to
(02:15):
consistently do that from a mental perspective for a full
game as well. So always know it's going to be
a tussle against them, but that's what makes it so
much fun and that cross cross chasm and rivalry, so
really enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
So a couple of days off in the build up
to tonight's test injury wise, has the team traveled?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Well, yeah, I know, we know it's a very quick turnaround.
There's not much time where we need to make sure
that we fill our cups whatever way that looks like that.
We are very ruthless in our recovery, making sure everyone
does the little things they need to do that works
for us individually, but it's what our mindsets need to
be set as well going into the next game. We
(02:56):
can't sit on our back foot and expect the same
results if we're not going to put it out there.
So a few days recoupert, don't tweak too much in
the game plane, but just go hard with whatever we
do decide to do.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
And how important is it to win tonight in Auckland
before heading to Australia for the final two matches.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, it's always very important. To make sure that we
use our home crowd advantage. We know when we do
go over to IVY is going to be a different
beast with them having their crowds backing them as well,
but we know we have done that in the past.
We have beaten them on their sholds, so it's very
much capable. We are capable of doing it. But I
guess if we can have a two and oh before
(03:37):
we head over, that'll put us in a really good
footing going into that third and fourth game as well.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
We're looking forward to another cracking game tonight from the
Silver Ferns Current go well, thank you
Speaker 2 (03:48):
So much, have a nice day.
