Speaker 1 (00:00):
Where you go, Haley, stay everywhere, golly stake. Seventeen after
eight o'clock here on gold Sport, heading to the Met Service.
Now catching up with Lewis Fears from the mid Service morning.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Lewis, good morning, how are we doing this week?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Very well? Thank you. I think South Southlanders are going
to ask the question when is the rain going to
stopping our neck of the woods. The fields are saturated.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yes, and they've got a little bit more rain to
come today and a little bit moving into Saturday as well.
As we have a little cold front moving out the country,
it's going to bring some cold air across most places.
I think Saturday it looks like it will be the
warmer day across the country. Sunday a little bit cooler,
especially along the eastern coast of the North Island past
of the Hawks. Day will be around twenty five degrees
(00:49):
on Saturday, but down down into the teens on Sunday.
But we do see high pressure in building out in
the Tasmancy, which looks they actually bring some settled with
her around the country as we move into next week.
But it does again look like some rain is going
to pile on to the southwest, so hopefully not too
much of that making it onto the sobby fields of Southland.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I mean, here we are, first of November and the
temperatures are absolutely everywhere that we've had snow in the
South Island a week ago, and as you mentioned Hawks
Bay twenty five degrees. It's crazy at the moment.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I know, but I mean it's just kind of like
typical spring stuff. I don't quite want to say typical.
I mean, that was a lot of snow that did
come out with that snowy event. But yeah, seeing the
temperature fluctuation because a lot of our temperatures, especially in
those eastern areas, are going to be dominated by which
way the wind is going. So spring will see a
lot of those westerly winds. They're maybe coming it as
the northwest be quite warm, but typically after those strong
(01:43):
northwesterly as we didn't give that cooler southwesterly that will
move across the country. So we're seeing that as we
move through the weekend. But yes, that big high building
in the Tasin does look like it will set up
for at least a wee while of settled with it
into next week.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
All right, let's look at the weekend the sporting activities,
and we've got in Wellington at the Ata Ski Stadium.
We've got the Yellow Fever the Phoenix playing Auckland f
C in the first ever local derby. What's it going
to be like there?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Oh? Sorry, what day was that going to be? I'm
out of the lobe.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
There, Sorry, that'll be tomorrow, Saturday.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Tomorrow, all right. We do have that front moving through
that It looks to move through Wellington quite early in
the morning, so that by the time we get into
the afternoon evening it does look to be pretty clear.
But that is a southerly moving up, but that loves
to be sort of late in the evening towards nighttime
that that would make it through all right.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So that's Wellington taken care of Auckland Tomorrow night. Mount
Smart Stadium Tomorrow night it's the Kiwis versus Tongua for
the Rugby League. What's it doing there?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
It does look like that front makes it there just
in time. So heading along you're definitely going to need
to pack that rain jacket because it does look like
some rain will be around. It could be a little
bit briefer hopefully by the time that front makes up
there it's not a strong front, but weather does.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Look likely, all right, So it's raincoats for the weekend
and then of course, as you said, next week looking
a lot brighter.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yes, yes, we do have that higher building. It is
going to bring some more settled weather around the country
as we move into next week. So although you know
it's a studd of November now, as we get into
the first real week of November, most places do look
to be on that settled side. That does just look
like Fiordland and the west coast of the South End
that will see some rain packing as we moved through
next week.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
All right, and Lewis nice to nice to catch up mate,
have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Easy we'll do you to.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Lewis Ferris joining us out of the met Service. So
it looks like sort of a little bit of this
and a little bit of that, a little bit of
everything for everybody across the course of the weekend.
