Joining us on the show this morning, Kiwi and Melbourne

(00:24):
Storm Winger and the Pride of cobor Our in the
Bay of Plenty. Will Warbrick Morning, Well, hey morning, how
you doing mate? Welcome you could say welcome home.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah, I'm doing really good. It feels good to be
back in New Zealand after a pretty long season, so
I'm just joining being back home fantastic.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Well, let's look at last week's game. Firstly, we'll going
down twenty two to ten to the Kangaroos. What did
Stacy Jones, you coach, have to say about that one?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, we're pretty dis disappointed of the result, but I
think there's still a few positives to take out of
the game, and this week we're just sort of focus
on polishing up on a few things and just working
on some combinations, but Stacy is optimistic, you know, positives
to take out of the game and stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Last week it was your debut for Last week was
your debut for the Key. We was talk us through
how special that was for you and your family because,
as I mentioned, you know you grew up born and
bred in Colorow.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
It means a lot men. I think as a lot
of kids growing up in New Zealand, you sort of
want to wear the black jersey and if it's whether
it's rugby union, rugby league or critcul or whatever, you
sort of want to wear the fern in which so
about to do that down across which front from a

(01:57):
family of friends, that meant a whole lot to me.
It's pretty special.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Because you're a triple international as well. Not have you
only just played rugby in RL Rugby League, but you've
also played for the New Zealand Sevens and Ossie Rules
as well. In fact, you've got to meet them from
the Olympics and the Sevens, haven't you.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yes, yes, I managed to get out of the silver
middle winning.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Side, and I don't know, I haven't really.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Had enough time to inflict on It's my career as
athlete and I'm just sort of just trying to stay
in the prison with it all and enjoying us a moment.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Now I'm representing my country in EGUY League, so uh yeah,
I'm just enjoying the wide.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Is there much of a step up will from in
RL to playing international rugby.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
League, Well, yeah, it definitely is. I feel like it's
probably just more in terms of individuals on the field, mate,
everyone's a free it. You're facing the best of the best,
and I feel like the margin for areas is pretty low,

(03:08):
so you've got to be on top of your game.
And definitely it's a challenging game, you know, physically and
mentally when you're playing against the best players in the.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Step up, and I guess you're playing against a few
of your old old teammates with the Kangaroos as well.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, that was that was a bit funny funding to
them during the week and there was a bit of
benter there and whatnot. But it's it is a weird
feeling playing against some boys that you're you know, spent
a whole seam playing alongside and training alongside and as
you get to know pretty well. So it's definitely a
bit weird. Trying to run into Harry Gun every time.

(03:51):
But it was good fun at the end of the day,
you know, I was I was representing Kerries and there
was opposition, so no, no, she's there.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Your second year in the NRL and losing a Grand
Final thriller to the Penrith Panthers. How much have you
enjoyed playing in the NRL for the Melbourne Storm.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I'm really enjoying it, man, I'm loving my time down
there over there in Melbourne. Such a great club and
great environment and I really feel like I've set it
down there for the moment, and in terms of the game,
I'm just I feel like the more I learn about
the game and the more I play it, the more

(04:36):
I'm able to enjoy it and espress myself out on
the field.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
So yeah, I'm loving I'm loving every moment of it.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
And obviously be part of the Grand Final and it
really hurts and it's tough to lose that, but the
experience of it all, it is pretty soreal.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
It's going to be pretty special for you running out
onto Mount Smart Stadium, though, isn't it? For the big one?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Oh, You're definitely definitely excited. I haven't actually had the
chance to play it Mount Smart yet, so I'm looking
forward to that. I heard a lot about the atmosphere
that the tongue and fans bring, so yeah, I'm just
excited for this weekend. No doubt it will be a
pretty tough, physical, challenging game, and I think we'll be

(05:27):
a great watch for the fans.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Absolutely well, Well, thank you for joining us this morning,
bright and early this morning. Go well tomorrow night at
Mount Smart. Thank you so much, Thank

Speaker 3 (05:37):
