Speaker 1 (00:00):
Whether it's gun boots or rugby boots. The country Sport
Breakfast has you covered on gold Sport, your home of
live commentary. Well, we're talking a league now, Football's a
league and Saturday's a league match in the Capitol in
Wellington will be the first time that the new club
Auckland FC have faced the Wellington Phoenix. The fever is building,

(00:21):
the yellow fever is building as well, and one of
the supporters from Yellow Fever, Dale Wilburton, joins this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Dale, Hey, good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
How are you going very very well? Thank you? More importantly,
what's the fever like in the Capitol? Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, I'm excited, but most of that's just because it's
the thing. It's Game's got nothing to do with the opposition.
It would be nice. It will be a few more
than three or four away fans in the away section,
but I think probably most of them are still picking
yellow lintel of their belly buttons after supporting the Senex
last year's.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
I mean, it's a very tasty game because both teams,
i mean their first and second on the on the
A League table, aren't they well only.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Start Yeah, both both teams are uneaten, so you fairly
good to start, So the Phoenix are usually fairly slow
starters to the season just because it's a herd players
in and out with other sort of international commitments. So yeah,
but pretty handy starts so far with boy sides.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And the word is there could be what twenty thousand
packed into sky Stadium tomorrow. It's going to be making
a really noisy place, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah. I've just I was just jumped on the ticket
website to have a look how sales are going. It
looks yeah like it could be heading towards twenty k,
which is pretty good, pretty good efforts and usually think
sort of above kind of maybe ten in sky Stadium
ucrats quite quite a decent atmosphere, sot of a pretty good,
pretty good game tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
I saw a story and I think I might have
been on One News last night where Wellington Phoenix are
rating extra security and police for the weekend's Kiwi derby
in response to threats of organized violence from Auckland f
C fans. That concerns me. I mean, that's a pretty
scary thought. Do you know any more about that?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I don't know any any specifics. I mean, we pride
ourselves on on creating a festive atmosphere. You know, we
quite often have you know, six or seven eight year
old kids in the fever zone.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Having said that, you know, I think a lot of
a lot of things get imported to New Zealand, so
you know, it'll be naive to think that, you know,
some of the worst parts of overseas football culture may
tune up here in some description and I think it's
I think the key point is it's the police that
make decisions about staff and so they've obviously got some
some intel that they seem to think that they need

(02:35):
to be proactive about it. So I imagine there's something
more than just a couple of you know, keyboard warriors
on some Facebook groups spouting some stuff. So you know,
it could be a lot of it could be a
lot of nothing. But I think, you know, caution is
the best way to go. But yeah, we have no
just whatsoever in it.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, I mean, it's something we do not we do
not want in New Zealand, that's for sure. So as
far as Sky Stadium is concerned, So have the yellow fever.
Have you got your spots there? You'll be it'll be
filled up with yellow fever and another part of the
stadium will be the blue of Auckland FC.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah, so we're usually down there. I'll twenty on is
one of the corners that the players come out looking before.
It looks like about maybe thirty seats in the feeda
zone left, which though that'll be a big pact. I
think we've got a couple of surprises lined up for
the game. And yeah, there'll be you think about maybe
three hundred sort of Auckland fans coming down w the
opposite end and definitely out down down down the northern end.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
That's actually where we sat where you guys are going
to be sitting on the weekends. We sat last Saturday
for the Bay of pretty Wellington rugby final, which was
a great spot.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah it is. You know, it's ideally we've be in
a rectagon in stadium, but where are it was always
a good, good spot and yeah, yeah I don't mind it.
And you know which I created as big a atmosphere
and as we can.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
So what are you guys going to be doing during
the game? I mean, do you have a side? Do
you have all sorts of things going on?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah, we've got quite a few sort of songs and chants.
We have a drummer that try keeps us in June,
keep us in time. You know, we've got weavses of
banners and flags waving such. It's just trying to create
a bit of a bit of a sort of Caldron
type scenario, you know, trying to drive the players on

(04:23):
and be that kind of twelfth Man.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
I'm sure it will be. Actually, so we wish you
guys the very very best of like it's going to
be an absolute cracker. Kickoff is at five o'clock tomorrow afternoon,
So go the Yellow Fever.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah we'll go to Phoenix, I think more importantly, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Absolutely good on your Dale. Enjoy the game.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
We'll do it.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Thanks, Look, Dale Wilbert enjoining us a year out of
