The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport
A long time ago, way back, Well, no I could
drink while Anna wondered, well that George Roy song from
(00:28):
Tommy Clancy and the Clancy Brothers.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
It is time to talk beer. And there's a bit
going on in the world of beer tied and locally
with the US elections which are only a day away,
joining us as Michael Donalds.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
And Morning Michael, Morning Brian, how are you very well?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
One day out? And is it he Bohemouth breweries are
doing something special.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah, So some of your listeners may remember, like Behemoth
had been around for a dozen years in New Zealand
and they're sort of very cheeky and irreverent and they
do lots of pop culture kind of references in their beer.
And but a few years ago, I think around the
time of the first Donald Trump presidency, they brought out
(01:09):
a beer called dump the Trump and a little low
icon of Donald Trump on the can, and this just
caused outrage around Like they did a version of it
in New Zealand and nothing happened. And then because it
coincided with the election, they just got all these kind
of mad right wingers in American I mean mad, not crazy,
(01:29):
but they were made had been insulted and like just
about taking down their website and spamming their Facebook page
with you know, one star reviews and stuff like this.
So they made kind of global headlines on it. And
so for this election cycle they're back and not content
(01:51):
for doing one dump the Trump, They've got a second one.
So it's called Dump the Trump twenty four. And there's
a series of other beers that with it. You know,
there's one called Crazy Cat Lady, which is I haven't
drilled down deep enough into what that reference is, but
I think it has something to do with Kamala Harris
(02:11):
and you know, having cats instead of children or something.
And there's other ones, you know, that play on this
thing about Trump saying there were people eating dogs and
it's just it's all sort of stuff and nonsense.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
But what sells beer? I guess? So is that available
sin of nationally?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah? I think so. Look, it's definitely on their website.
If people want these collectors' items, they're in a six pack
the Behemoth Brewing Company website Behemoth dot co dot MZ.
I think it is. And but yeah, they're a bit
of fun. They'll be in some supermarkets for sure, and
(02:51):
bottle stores because yes, you know, politics and beer they
sort of go together, don't they.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
It's you probably need a few beer is to sort
of understand the US election. And talking about supermarkets, I
believe that the four Square is celebrating their one hundredth
of their centenary, are doing something with the Behemoth Brewery
as well.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, yeah, so they're everywhere at the moment these so, yeah,
four Square one hundred years old this year, and they're
sort of celebrating this coming summer, their one hundredth summer.
They're doing four kind of collaborative products, and one of
them's Watties Tomato sauce and it's got so it's a
way tomato sauce branded with four Square on it, so
(03:33):
it's got the little four Square grosser on the label.
Collectors item, I think that one. And there's a cookie
time cookie they're doing a birthday cake cookie, and the
fruity ice blocks. And then the fourth one that they're
doing this with, which I just think is quite interesting
because those other three products are sort of really well known,
quite ychotic and yeah, so they're doing one with Behemoth
(03:57):
for a beer called Hazy of the Century, which is
a very grand name, but I guess that you know,
it's a century of four Square sure, and it's got
the again, the cheeky Charlie the grosser on the on
the label. So and it's going to be in every
four Square in the country, which is quite something like
(04:17):
that's two hundred and twenty something stores. So so all
throughout the summer you can get all these kind of collectors'
items from four Square. And yeah, so it's good work
from Behemoth to get involved in that alongside what I
would say a household brands really.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
So yeah, all right, we look for the we look
for the dump the trump beer from Behemoth Brewery, ain't Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, if you can't find that, you can plump the
Hazy of the Century. You're in your local four Square.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Great to chat, Michael, have a great week and we'll
talk next week.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
All right, yes, right, pump the hole in the wall
and I wonder you can be score.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
It's Charlie eleven five ft seconds, remember Charlie.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Alright in there we go talking beer with Michael Donaldson
right up next to He's a man who likes a
beer or two as well
