Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport.
Gentlemen today, what can I do for you?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
There we go?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Time to catch up with that friendly a fruit of
David Stewart, whose horse I think is probably still running
in the cup from yesterday?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Is it David and the Lightstrong just waiting for it?
I had three and they're all still running. But that
was an outside of it one. I picked three too,
not of anywhere near it.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
No, absolutely no. Of course.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
The other big story that you know, if we were
Americans and you were living in America voting data, then
who would you vote for? I mean, this whole thing
has been a circus right through, hasn't it.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
It's really the statement, who would you vote for? I
really don't know, Roan, I don't know at all, because
all hell's going to break loose whatever happens. I was
over there, what the second? I'm in twenty sixteen when
Trump was elected, and that was very interesting. People were
protesting Iridy in Chicago. I don't think we're going to
see a result today or tomorrow, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
No matter what. The polls are very very very close.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Can I just step out of that, Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Fine, sit on the fence. I think half of Erica
are the same. Yeah, look at them.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
He's on the TV right, okay, right, and let's talk
fruit and veg's and first off, asparagus.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
And you got a little bit of news on the
asparagus front. It has been very chilly the last few mornings,
you know, about zero over the White Ketto and places like.
That's the asparagus. No, no, I'm not growing. I'm staying under
the ground, right, I just wait, so just for a
couple of days, it'll be right. By the weekend, you'll
be back to normal. But it's been a little bit
short the class couple of days it has, and that
would affect lettuces and things like that. Yeah, it's been
a little bit tricky. Spinitch and that's been a bit short,

(01:33):
baby spinach, few of the salads. But you're not too bad,
and it'll be right now. It's up to twenty degrees
in the afternoon. Big news. Are your tomato price half
of what it was a few weeks ago, and the
same price it was about in twenty whatever, you know,
twenty years ago. They just don't change, really, no, it doesn't.
You know, you'll pay between five and six dollars a
kilo for tomatoes, which is very very good, buying it

(01:54):
all your salads, A reasonable cucumbers, avocados, lettuces, not too bad.
I had some of those beautiful potatoes we kid. Oh
they are, aren't they They are? Yeah, the little dear
six dollars for the box. But come on, that's cheap, men,
There should be more than that. I'm being nice to you.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Okay, thanks very much, but they were damn nice.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
They are very very nice potatoes. You just don't cook
them too long, just very minimum boil time, and oh lovely.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
And they're great in the morning. Got some left over there, right, bride,
potato just.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
All right, here we go, Yeah, all right, I'm on
the other one. Strawberries too, the very season started. They're
going well now. Strawberries. We're actually selling very very cheap
this week at three dollars a chip most and before
around the country. That's the same price we were forty
years ago. I remember, Yes, I'm saying two dollars ninety
nine a chip forty years ago in the nineteen eighties,

(02:43):
and now here we are three dollars in two thy two.
You can no one can complain. They still do they
come in and I say, well, look at that. That's
two dollars. That's that there. They still grizzle.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
You should have signs up in your shop say same
price as nineteen eighty one or whatever it might be.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yes, well, that's a good idea too, we might do.
I keep I was telling people yesterday and they're looking
at me, so I would say, yesterday is cheap, isn't it, David?
Thank you very much? And blueberries, what about blueberlueberries are on.
Raspberries are starting too for the weekends, so they're coming up.
They're a little bit dear of it. That's okay, you know,
they'll come down and price all that stuff. We've got
cherries in store now to go with the nectarines. Actually
quite nice too, I suppose, not cheap. Do you need
a couple of mortgages just to buy those at.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
The moment they will get cheaper though.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
The yeah, come on, let's say roll on. You know,
it'll be all right in a few weeks. A few
weeks time, me raving how good it is. Everything will
be there, peaches, plums, nectarines, apric it's a whole lot.
So that's about the end of the month. You know
corn coming on in early December. You know there's good
things happening, mate. You know it's gonna be all right
and you'll be happy, is.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Oh, thank you?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
And I guess being seized all vegetables and from some
of the prices will will vary with other things though.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah they will. You know, some things go up down,
pumpkins getting the wee bit short. You know, spud's are
good though, Coomula one of those inst to see what
happens in the price is reasonable at the moment. You know,
we get the cords Christmas, and then the new season
starts in January, so that's all right. Imports are looking
good too. Nice Ossie mangoes. You've had your ozziemngos, the
R two E twos.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
No two?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
What are you doing R to D two? Honestly, everyone
saying those mangos are beautiful, aren't they? Jucy, magnificent? Absolutely
Ozzie melon's two, dull pineapples. Lots of USA grapes here,
and I keep saying that one too, buying grapes, folks
are beautiful at the moment. Yes, this is goodbye as always.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Absolutely all right.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Well that's the word on fruit and Vegi's around the
country with that friendly fruiterer David Steward.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Are go and think how he's going to vote for
in the US election.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Have a great weekend, Thank you very much, David Stewart,
the friendly fruder here on gold Sport.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
This is the Country Sport Breakfast. Three hours and sixteen
minutes

Speaker 3 (04:36):
