Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the rugby field to the rotary shed.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold
Sport joining us now out of Farm Advisors and Eggsaye
New Zealand based in the White Cut though is Jim
for Lame morning.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Jim and good morning Brian.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
You would have enjoyed the all black performance on Saturday morning.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah it was. I thought it was a little lackluster
game in some ways, but it was a good performance
and that very very well deserved win.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We'll take the win, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
ALRIGHTY want to touch on dairy prices and I don't
think anybody saw the four point eight lift come last weekend.
We talked about it last week, didn't we.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
We certainly did, and I indicated that I thought it
would be sort of pus or minor sort of point
who were three percent? But we had a lift of
four point eight percent, which was a very very big lift.
And if we look at the index, it's up to
twelve hundred and sixty one, which is yeah getting up.
It's weel above that midpoint of one thousand. So the

(00:57):
prices are looking very very strong at the moment and
a bit of a call out there for them to
lift the entrant or the payout up to sort of
ten dollars for the season. But I think they just
need to excuse, we need to hold off for just
a little bit and see what else is going to happen.
The other thing with it, Brian, of course, is that
there's a very big volume was sold, which is always
a good indication as well. So let's hope that it
is on the up. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I think the Chinese came back into the market a
weep it so I think he coming back.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
It'll be good, all right. The rest of the schedules,
how do they come out over the week?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yes, there's a wee bit of upward movement. There's a
bit of strengthening there. The Lamb schedule and the North
Island's up along with the Mutton and in the South
Island the Boner Cow and the bull of manufacturing come meet.
There is also up. So if we look at eight
en kg y exlam the North Island schedule is up
to seven dollars seventy five cents a kilogram, in the
South Island is steady at seven dollars eighty our twenty

(01:48):
one KGMX Muttin is up to three dollars fifty in
the North and up to three dollars a twenty in
the South. Two seventy to two ninety five kg steers
six seventy five in the North and six sixty in
the South Island. Albona cow won sixty to one ninety
five kg weight range. There's five dollars in the North
and up to four seventy five in the South. And
our ball the two seventy two ninety five kg weight range.

(02:10):
We look out of six fifty in the North and
six dollars forty in the South Island. And our venison
is steady but trending upwards a little bit. The sixty
kg staggers eight eighty five in the North and eight
ninety five in the South.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Bye, and you you weekly ran this week? I mean
you look back at the week and it was it
was quite a week.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
We had the Melbourne Cup won buy an outsider, and
of course you won't say that the US election was
one by an outsider, but gee, there were some interesting
things out of the week, weren't there.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
There's been some very very interesting things and I think
down at the club there was only one guy had
number eleven on any of the pets that he had,
so we were sort of quite happy and the rest
of us ended up losing a lot of money, which
is a little bit of a shame, but it's all
part of the fun of the Melbourne Cup. I suppose
we're pretty deal with mister Trump. The big thing is
that he's got over fifty two percent, around fifty two

(02:58):
percent of the popular support, which is absolutely quite amazing.
And the Republicans now have control of well they will
at the end of the week, the House of Representatives
and the Senate, so they'll actually have control of everything,
which is rather interesting. And the popular vote to me
was the one because in New Zealand and Australia he
gets portrayed as being some great, big ogre and yeah,

(03:20):
there's some personality things and that's a lot of us
are very concerned about. But the reality is the Americans
must know a lot more about them than we do.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And I guess the interesting thing is we don't have
to wait and see till he gets into power in January.
But you know what's going to happen with the tariffs,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
That's a real concern. And Morris Williamson was on yesterday
afternoon and passing some commentary about it, and he was
sort of quite philosophical about whether it'll all happen or not.
But my concern is about the Chinese tariff. He's talking
of a tariff of up to sixty percent on Chinese
goods going into the USA. Well, that's going to affect
us in a great big way because if the Chinese

(03:58):
aren't able to sell a lot of their stuff, they're
not going to be buying milk powder, and they also
won't be buying a lot of coal out of Australia,
which will also affect the Australian economy. So these are
sort of what I'll sort of talk about is the
unintended consequences of what's going on, and we just need
to be very very aware of that. And I think
mister Peters needs to put some of these things in
his little handbag and head off over to see mister

(04:21):
Trump and have a bit of a yarm to him
about it and say, hang on, you know, what you're
going to do could affect other countries quite considerably. But yeah,
there's some good stuff that I like there. He's going
to get rid of the Paris Accord, which will get
rid of those mythological carbon credits, and he's going to
look at a lot of the other economic problems which
are there. So if he can create a stable international economy,

(04:43):
I think we're pretty good.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And he said he's going to end the war and
the Ukraine and end the war and the Middle East.
So that's always good news too.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Isn't it.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Absolutely, As we said last week, the war in the
in the Middle East has been going to sort of
three or four thousand years. I can't see him sort
of ending it in three or four minutes. We just
have to wait and see, Brian. So we're in for
an interesting ride and it's going to be some new
times that are going to be before us all.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Absolutely, Jim always great to catch up, mate, have a
great week.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Good thank you Brian, and goodbye to the listeners.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Jim and Lay very polite. Jim Finlay Farm Advisors in
