Speaker 1 (00:00):
Whether it's gum boots or rugby boots. The Country Sport
Breakfast has your covered on Gold Sport, your home of
live commentary.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Well, the tents are up, the pigs are prepared, and
everybody is looking forward to show day. In fact, a
couple of days really today, tomorrow and Saturday. The christ
Church show has been resurrected and it is all going.
Today is the first day of that. And joining us
a man who's probably knows his way around the showgrounds,
Phil Anderson, owner of Event Higher, the team they're actually
(00:30):
running the event with all those those marquees. Feel good morning,
good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Thanks having me.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
An absolute pleasure, and I guess you'll be excited. You
would have been working very very hard over the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yes, absolutely, it's been a pretty crazy three months to
put together what is usually a year show, which is yeah,
that by all means big feet for us and massive
up to our team to pull off a show like this.
So yeah, it's great.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Back well, a few months ago it looked like Kroschudge
will not even have an AMP show, didn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, correct, Yeah, well we managed to get along the
line to go Yep, let's let's do it. And yeah,
we're here. It feels very real now that there's vendors
packing in and the car surround us. But yeah, it's
controlled chaos and it's all looking really good.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
You noticed about entries. I noticed there. We're hoping to
achieve something like two hundred trade sites, so there's three hundred.
I mean entries are up with stock. It's looking really positive.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, absolutely, and because you know, tickets are half the price,
we're expecting good numbers of public through for the show. Absolutely,
so happy to see the trade get in behind this
and support us. And of course heaps of activities, all
those animal shows and everything else happening as well, so
it's going to feel like a normal AMP show, which
(01:52):
is as great.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
You've got some serious marquees that you've erected for the show.
Tell us just that you know how many you've put.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Up, Yeah, probably three or four hundred meters at this point.
That's sort of has definitely emptied out the warehouse. So
that's a benefit. That's given us a good chance to go,
oh sweet, we can give that a week sleep in
the corner or yeah, I'm definitely feeling very.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, and that's something that probably could be a bit
worrying with the local economy if they weren't going to
have a show, then of course, you know, the local
economy misses out. But I think Friday being a holiday,
it's going to be massive.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Oh absolutely, yeah. And look a lot of schools even
have teachers only day tomorrow, so yeah, expecting good family
numbers through and again because we creep into the Saturday
as well, even better that public holiday on the Friday.
So yeah, it's really hitting all the right notes this year,
which is great and so pleased that we could do
it because there are a lot of businesses that rely
(02:47):
on the show and it would feel pretty odd without
having a show on cup and show wicks.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
What's what's your biggest trade teen? What's the biggest one
you've erected there?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
We well, probably not us other company here that I've
set up a big twenty by eighty so it's massive.
That thing is full of different vendors. They keep out
of the wind in any weather, so they've got a
good web spot for the next three days. But yeah,
that's our biggest one there, which is pretty it's.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Massive, fantastic. Well, entries are up and I guess I
think the crowds will be up to I think with
the word going out that it's going to be well,
not not quite half priced, but a lot cheaper than
previous years. Fifty sixty thousand plus people through the gates.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
You reckon, yeah, I reckon, Yep, yep. We're on track
to hit that target. Cleaning a presel so yeah, we're lostening.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The really really good, fantastic well enjoy the show. Hope
all goes well, mate, Thank you for joining us.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Phill Anderson out of event high. I was just looking
at some of the entries. Seventy five alpackers not really
cool animals, I like them, and sheep numbers unbelievably. There's
six hundred entries in total, which is pretty cool as well,
and they've got about one hundred wool fleeces entered. So
it's a great show. It's kind of like when country
comes to town. Great events. Support it if you're in
(04:02):
the Canterbury region today, tomorrow and on Saturday,
