Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the cricket field to the cow shed. It's the
Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on Gold Sport.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, it's time to talk mountain biking now and in
particular crank Works and a little bit of history on
crank Works. It's the ultimate experience in mountain biking. Born
in Whistler in British Columbia back in around two thousand
and four. The summer series began back in British Columbia
in twenty twenty and it made its way to New
Zealand and it is back next year for the wealth
(00:29):
of the Summer of crank Works and joining us Adiki Kibble.
Who's the event director, Adiki Kyoda. Good morning, Judda. I'm
in a great to have the summer series back and
it's all going to kick off I believe in christ
Church in February.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Right, that's correct. Yeah, We've got the crank Work Summer
Series christ Jurg kicking off from the thirteenth to the
sixteenth of February, so that'll be three broadcasts across one weekend.
The ticket subprogrades for for locals and for for anyone
who wants to come along. That's going to be super
exciting and then a few weeks later we'll be back
(01:07):
up in for Frankwiks twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Now that the christ Church venue, it's a brand new location,
isn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah, we're at a christ Which Adventure Park. We had
plans to run the event earlier this year for twenty
twenty four here, but unfortunately due to the Porthal fires
we had to cancel just a couple of weeks out.
So next year is very much about redemption for us.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
So tell us a little bit about the events that
are going to be happening because it's it's part of
the World Series Gold Cup, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Correct. Yes, we have a pump track race, we have
a downhill race here as well, which will be Category
one UCI race, and then for the first time ever
really a Gold Cup slopestyle event will be taking place
in New Zealand.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
So a.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Slopestyle course has been bils right now at christ Juventure
Park and it'll be primed and ready for February twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
And I imagine it'll bring the best downhill mountain bikers
in the world to christ Church.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, we're expecting a really good turnout of downhill writers,
and then in the sotile field as well in vitel
Guard in December to the top twenty five males, the
top ten women in the world, and we'll look forward
to them confirming in December and then welcoming them here
in February, and.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Then it moves on in fifth to ninth of March,
wrote a ruur. Skyline wrote a ruh, you've got the
crank works, wrote to Rule Festival, and that's going back
to the original five day format.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
So what happens there, Well, you know, we've got five
exciting days, three locals days on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
and then an absolute jam pack weekend. So it's going
to look a lot like the event from back in
twenty twenty with a return of the downhill to the
Skyline site. It's an absolute favorite to the downhill riders
(02:58):
around the world. I know they got me absolutely frothing
to be there. We've got a few changes and exciting
announcements coming up about the Diamond Level slope style event
that will take place that weekend as well, and a
few little new new events that will be pippering through
the schedule. So we're really making sure that it's an
(03:19):
exciting event for spectators to get along and a bit
of a drop in prices to make sure people can
sort of spend the money on the things that matter
to the most. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I think that's really cool. I noticed in your press
release you said you're actually lowering the prices and that's
great for spectators, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, Well, you know, we want them to be able
to come along and enjoy it there and some of
the food on sites, and to go through the expo
and get some good deals. And we're just sensitive, just
like everybody is, to the climate that everybody's having to
deal with at the moment, and we just want to
make things as easy as possible look accessible.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
This pos Yeah, absolutely, Eric, We look forward to more
of those announcements as we get closer February or come
up very quickly for the christ Church event and then
just around the corner will be the one in Reuta.
So thank you so much for joining us.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Thank you very much, Brian
