Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport. Well,
time to go straight side to DC to Washington, DC
to catch up without US correspondent Amy Tayler, Morning Amy.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Good morning DK. Nice to be back.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I should talk say and introduce you to as Amy
the Disruptor, because if prior to having our wee chat
you were talking about explaining that you are actually known
as a little bit of a disruptor, what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, yeah, I mean I think you know, innovation requires
some disruption and that's where a lot of interesting ideas
come from. And as I was saying in our chat,
when I first started with the why and my first
board meeting, somebody said, hang on, hang on, any wants
to take on the board in her first board meeting,
Let's hear why. And it turned out to be a

(00:56):
good a good thing actually. But I think disruption is
important sometimes and that's how you get change. How you
implement the change is always a question, but sometimes disruption
can be good. And I think that's a little bit
about a lot of what Trump is doing right now.
And his cabinet is actually full, He's got his cabinet

(01:18):
picks completed, and you know there are some things I'm
gonna shock you because I actually agree with Trump on something,
and that is the question of industry specific experience. I've
applied to a lot of roles and I've got taken
a lot of roles where I didn't have industry specific experience,
and I don't think it necessarily matters in some roles,

(01:42):
right because business is business. Certain principles apply across all industries.
It's about leadership, financial and operational expertise that was applicable
as opposed to the specific industry. And I think that
is some of what he's doing with some of his picks.
There are picks that I think it doesn't apply to.

(02:03):
So let's start with I give him credit for picking
the first female chief of staff in the White House,
Susie Wilds. So that's an interesting pick. Mark Rubio makes
a lot of sense Secretary of State. He comes the
Senator from Florida. He's well respected across parties. Pam Bondi, Bondi,
I don't know how you pronounce your last name. She's

(02:24):
former Florida Attorney General. Okay, you can question her legal decisions,
but she makes sense. Veteran Affairs Doug Collins. Okay, fine,
Christy Noam, Secretary of Homeland Security, Governor of South Dakota.
She would have had experience in homeland security issues.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
You know, he's had two assassination attempts on his life.
I'm not sure I would want her in charge of
secret Service if I were him. But okay, his choice.
But then you get into picks like heete Hegsea for
Secretary of Defense. Now, this guy is a former Fox
host US Army veteran. Okay, that's fine, But he's only

(03:05):
been a captain who's led platoons of maybe Fortyish soldiers
best I can figure, and he's gonna be in charge
of about two point eight million personnel worldwide.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
I just don't see, like I get stretching somebody's capabilities.
I just don't get how this guy is qualified to
be Secretary of Defense under anybody's imagination. So there's disruption,
and then there's just kind of crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
So I guess real.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, and then Robert Kennedy, Junior Secretary of Health and
Human Services, you know he's got this kind of wonky
habit of spreading scientifically disproven nonsense. Telsey gab Gabbert is
Director of National Intelligence. She's going to be head of
eighteen Intel agency. And you know, this is a woman

(03:58):
who's downplayed alleged crime of the presidence of both Russia
and Syria. I don't know if that's so good for
the Director of d and I.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So, you know, some interesting picure.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
There's disruption, and then there's you know, questionable judgment. So
we'll see what comes about. But the other thing that's
the big issue here is the background checks. They seem
to want to just skip the whole background process by
the FBI because apparently they don't trust the FBI, And
whether Congress is actually going to go through the confirmation

(04:32):
hearings seems to be a question as well. So again
there's disruption and then there's just kind of violating process,
you know, due process.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
So I don't know, we'll see absolutely. On a positive note,
you're counting down to Thanksgiving. That's going to be a busy,
busy weekend in the States.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
It is. I love Thanksgiving. This is going to be
a different kind of Thanksgiving for me. I'm going to
be on a plane on the day of flying out
to Washington State, the other Washington to have Thanksgiving Day
with my daughter and her two roommates who have never
experienced Thanksgiving because they're international students, so that'll be fun.

(05:11):
And then from there I head to the mountains of
Park City to celebrate my big birthday.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yes, we better not say how what it is, but
I'm sure you'll have a you'll have a great bed.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I'll embrace it. I'm turning sixty. People often say you're kidding,
and I tell them if I was kidding, i'd tell
you I was turning twenty eight again, so I'll get
with it.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Well that's great. Well, enjoy Thanksgiving, enjoy the birthday celebrations,
and we'll chet again next week.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
From Washington State.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
We will there. We go, Hey me, Tayla, our us cars.
