Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on
gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Everywhere you go, stake the weather. Everywhere go always take
the weather. Seventeen minutes after eight o'clock here on the
Country Sport Breakfast on gold Sport talking whether now Lewis
Ferris from the Met Service.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Morning, Lewis, good morning. How we're doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Very well? Thank you. I think we'll start with the cricket.
It is day two today out of Hagley Oval in
christ Church. So what's it going to do over the
course of the next three or four days.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Well, I mean yesterday it was hot, hot, sunny, typical
Cannabury stuff. Maybe too hot for some people.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
We've got a window.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
One degrees with the airport. Yeah, that northwest is what's
going to be able to bring that heat. However, today
we've got the other side of the coin. Southerly has
moved in late in the day yesterday, so that temperature
is much low. I think we're going for a high
maybe seventeen degrees around chrish Shirt though southerly winds looked
to hold on. Could be a bit of a break
in the cloud later on in the day. But I
mean some people might actually prefer that sort of whether

(01:05):
maybe the cricketers would maybe people spectating to be a
little bit cooler, but generally moving forward for christ Church,
really not too much on the weather front coming their way,
so it could just be kind of prime condition to
some test cricket.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I've noticed that there's a huge high sort of to
the south of New Zealand mid tasman cea off Tasmania.
Is that moving our way?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yes, yes, and it does look like it's kind of
going to be the main player for weather around the
country through the weekend and even into next week. There
is a little bit of muck around the North Island
today and tomorrow that has kind of like the remnants
of the front that moved up the country yesterday. For
most of the sort of central and northern North Island,

(01:46):
they don't look like they're going to see a huge
drop up in temperatures like so Cannibury have, but it
does look like some showers and cloud will be sort
of present throughout Saturday. On Sunday, that high moves a
little bit more on shore and we see a bit
of a clearance fill some showers around the North Island.
But heading into next week, we do have another mass
of warm air being dragged in from the tasms, so

(02:08):
we're going to see a sort of return to the
temperatures that we saw around the country yesday doing their
spots or whatever. Three degrees around Canterbury, also up into
the Hawk's Bay, so we might see that heat, and
it's that kind of yuck heat with the warm, humid
overnight temperatures from sort of Monday onwards next week.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I've just there's a big football match in Auckland tomorrow
with Auckland FC taking on Newcastle Jets tomorrow afternoon. What's
it looking like for that Well, so.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Some of that moisture does look to creep its way
up into Auckland tomorrow, but it's not like a big
frontal band of rain. It's kind of looking like it's
that potential for showers. So I mean, people might be lucky,
it might miss the game. I think if I was
heading me along, it's still probably pack a little rain
jacket with me. But it doesn't look like it's really
going to be that cold. We're still going for a

(02:55):
high of twenty two degrees, so it's still above average
for this time of the year.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
And for next week. As you mentioned, the weather's going
to settle. It'll be good news for Wellington too, because
the English cricketers head to the Basin Reserve for the
Test match. Second Test match. Is that going to be okay?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Looks like it should be all right. It does look
like we have a pretty typical amount of northerly wind,
but we are going to be getting some of that
wants and it does look like there's a little bit
of moisture around as we get towards the middle of
the week. But I think around the city that might
actually just be all right. It'll just be dealing with
that wind out on the pitch.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Nice one. Alrighty Lewis, have a great weekend and we'll
talk again next week.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Easy chap here we go.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, and next week of course, last months of the year.
Hard to believe it all kicks off on the weekend December.
