The Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport
Stay Away from We find out US correspondent Amy Taylor,
this time on the West coast of the United States,
visiting her daughter in Washington State.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Morning, Amy, Good morning, BK. How goes it look very
very well? Thank you?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And I guess you've had Thanksgiving over there with your daughter.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah. I'm having just a brilliant time. It's quite fresh.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
It's about zero degrees out this morning, and yeah, I just.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Had a brilliant time.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
I went and been doing all sorts of things, went
to the Seattle Aquarium, which was amazing, been running around
downtown seeing all sorts of sites, and went to go
see Wicked last night, which was just brilliant.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Wow. Yet long movie though, Oh.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Yeah, I didn't realize going into it. It was nearly
three hours. It's only part one. It was a production
spectacular and the singing is amazing, and it was just
so nice to be in kind of fantasy world for
three hours and have the rest of the world shut out.
But part one, I have to wait until part two
for next November.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
But spectacular.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, while you were biding your time watching that, you're
current president Joe Biden.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
The big news out of the States is that he
has pardoned his son. What's going on there?
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah, Well, to be honest, BKA, I didn't really realize
until I woke up this morning. I've been really just
in a blissful state of ignorance for the last four
or five days. And I woke up and I thought, oh, bugger,
I need something to talk about with BK this morning.
So I quickly scanned the news and I said, oh,
thank you, President Biden. Now I have something to talk about.
(01:53):
But yes, he and he and President Trump can now
agree on something, which is DJ has been Department of
Justice has been politicized.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
So they finally agree on something.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
And he's saying that his son has been singled out.
You know, he pled guilty to failing to pay his taxes,
which he since paid, and he was brought up on
a gun charge relying on his firearms application about his
drug addiction. I think we've talked about this, but he's
been sober for five years versus Trump's illegally overturning a
(02:30):
presidential election and endangering national security. So you know, kind
of slightly different levels of charges, but his record's gonna
be wipe clean on those two federal convictions, will get
clemency for any wrongdoing over the past decade, which should
protect him from anything Trump may try to do to
him when he comes in.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Not clear.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Trump actually didn't react as strongly against his actions as
you would thought. He did allude to, well, what's going
to happen to the jan you know, why didn't they
do anything with the January sixth people, But he really
didn't rail against him. Technically, he would not have qualified
(03:14):
understandard DOJ recommendations, as that's usually reserved for those who
would have already served their sentences, which Hunter has not.
But you know, it's not unusual for presidents to do
things like that for family members.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Bill Clinton had a brother that was brought up on drug.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Charges, convicted drug charges, his half brother actually, and Trump
actually pardoned his son in law, Jared Kushner's father for
tax evasion among other crimes.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
So it's not unusual.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
But both Republicans and some Democrats were upset about the action.
Republicans of course really flipping their lid, but former Obama
Attorney General said no us AG would have charged the
case given underlying facts if it weren't for his name,
so who knows.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
You know, it's not really surprising.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
I mean, he was pretty adamant about the fact that
he wasn't going.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
To do it. But at the end of the day,
you know, I don't know. Good for him.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
I mean, we'll catch you next week, So have a
great week.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Thanks b K.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
That's a US correspondent, Aimy
