A long-awaited deal to recapitalise Alliance Group might have been inked, but the most challenging part to get it over the line may now lie ahead.
That doesn’t just include getting at least half of its 4,300 farmer shareholders to vote. It’s also getting 75% of them to tick the “yes” option to cede control of the country’s last remaining farmer-owned co-operative to an Irish rival.
And, if it fails, the fate of Alliance will ultimately lie in its bankers’ hands.
