Speaker 2 (00:10):
You and both.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Amy and your family and Amy they you bought you
live at Disneyland. You buy seasons tickets, seasoned and season
tickets Disneyland. And here is a story. You can dine
where Walt Disney dined. Okay, so go have dinner. Are
we talking about in the park. Are we talking about
favorite restaurants?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
No? This this is a great story. Now.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
One of the most beautiful and wonderful legacy restaurants in
the Los Angeles area is tam O'Shanter If.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
You've never have you ever been there? Bill?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I have.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
It's this great steakhouse, old school Scottish style and it
just has so I mean, it's adorable to look at.
It's this beautiful place there on Los Fields Boulevard, and
it's fantastic in.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Its own right.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
However, it was oft franqueted by Walt Disney because.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It was near the studios and he would go near
his house.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, lived he lived right above their great view and
a fairly modest house.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Nothing spectacular is Los Felis House. Yeah, it's just a
nice house.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
I was just in it within the last back in October. Yeah,
it's pretty gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I mean, yeah, but it's not you know, it's not
it's not a you know, mega mansion.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's just a nice home for the area.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
But I think he'd lived there prior to snow White.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, then that he moved Yeah, then in the Beverly Hills.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
I think, yes, he moved into uh WA's that area,
Homby Homby Hills.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, still in a really nice house.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
And that's where he had his uh I think his
train up there, if I'm not mistaken train. Okay, So
tam O'shanner, which is right there, that's fantastic place.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Table thirty one is the table that it's a four
top table that Walt would.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Sit with his imagineers or do business stuff there.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
He had his favorites from the Burger And So what
they're doing, because they get so many requests, is they're
putting together a very exclusive experience, so curated exclusive menu
Walt's favorite dishes and they're not available on the regular menu.
By the way, personalized history session. You get a take
(02:31):
home souvenir for the main course. There you have the
thirty one burger with bacon, scotch rare bit onions, all
these great things, and you can RSVP for lunch, sixty
nine bucks a pop for lunch, eighty nine dollars for dinner.
And I just think it's one of those if you
(02:51):
want an experience and beyond just great food.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Because I really enjoy their food.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Is this is a cool way to to celebrate the
legacy of Walt Disney and also the legacy of this
great restaurant you know locally here and you know, as
a huge Walt Disney fan in particular and a huge
fan of these legacy restaurants, it's just to me, it's
everything you could want in a sit down experience.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, we do have some neat restaurants. The Brown Derby,
which doesn't exist anymore. When of those classics, well.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
The Derby still does you know where it is?
Speaker 4 (03:28):
It's the original Brown Derby was across from the Ambassador
Hotel theres on Wiltshire and the hat part is up
above on the mall there and I don't know what
it is. It's something up there, a coffeehouse or something,
but it's still the Derby still exists up there as homage.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
But yeah, the restaurant's been gone for some time.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
And Musso and Franks, which has been around since what
nineteen nineteen where every major star and I went.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I think my first day.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Uh when I went, uh with Lindsay to visit my star. Uh.
Right across the street is Musso and Frank. So as
I'm sitting there and we're three tables and three booths in,
the waiter comes around and goes, you know where you're
sitting I said, no idea, Yeah, in the restaurant. He goes,
this is the table where Joe DiMaggio Uh proposed to
(04:23):
Marilyn Monroe.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Uh huh, that is history. I didn't. I didn't propose,
by the way, there was no chance.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yeah, you're all that's an interesting fact. Move along. I'll
tell you.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
The corner table up front was Charlie Chaplin's and he
and Arrow Flynn.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
This is how old that place is. And it's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
By the way, he and Arrow Flynn would sit in
that front table because they would ride their horses down
the street from Charlie Chaplin's offices down there I think Libria. Yeah,
and they he would, they would ride them and tie
them up out front they so they could watch them there.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
But they're their food. I had some pasta there.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
It's still the same menu. It's still the same menu
for the most part.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Yeah, they have a lot of traditional things that you
can't get anywhere else, but their pastasy.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
It is a fantastic experience.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
It is.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
It is.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
There's a lot of history. It's not particularly expensive either.
It's not particularly an expensive you know what for what
it is. It's not crazy, it's not one.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
You've got a new wine room there by the way,
a separate wine room there that's beautiful now and even
bigger and better than ever.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Snack old box.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Hey, before we get into that.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I was the next thing back and forth with my
buddy bart Avery there at Bravery Brewing, and he sent
me a picture for the stage for Gary and Shannon's
News and Brewis. Want to remind people to get out
there today. It is at four two seven zero five
eighth Street West there in Lancaster.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Go say hi, get yourself some pizza. If you've never
been to.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
A Gary Shannon News and Bruce it is the best
thing ever. It is like a three dimensional version of
their show. They have a good time interact with all
of you folks, and they're always appreciative and have a
good time.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
So it's gonna be great. Stage looks awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah. Do you notice where Shannon says, you know, they
sit up on these stools, you know, pretty high table
and Shannon's chair has a seat.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Belt on it. But you're aware of that.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Okay, let's continue to find her as a lush Yeah,
pretty much your life.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
That's all the snackle box.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
As I said, well, I'm gonna just let you tell Yeah,
I could go off that one.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Do you remember back gosh years ago it became really popular.
They called them muff and tin moms.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
And there's another one.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Others or fathers or caretakers or what have you would
get muffin tins and they put snacks in each of
the compartments for kids to kind of n you know,
instead of giving them one particular meal for you know,
lunch or something, it gave the kids variety and they
could eat through all that. Well that was really partly.
We even do that here at the house for Max.
(07:10):
But up and out came these things called snackle boxes.
And what it is is actually a fishing tackle box
that you fill with snacks. It's clean obviously, and so
they started doing that where they you know, if you
go to the park or if you go on a picnic,
you'd bring these snackle boxes, which are essentially fishing tackle
(07:32):
boxes with snacks in them. Well, at Dollar Tree there
was this big find. It went viral last summer and
it was this really cool box, extra large box with
you know, the little compartments, the separators and this this
(07:52):
ceiling so it's you know, like tupperware style, and then
you could seal snacks in there. Well, there was this
one that became very popular. They're at the Dollar Tree
and now it's at Ald and it's got these twenty
four adjustable compartments. You can organize all your your favorite
treats in there. Black Blue Tan. It costs about six
ninety nine and people are are loving them. They're they're
(08:17):
taking them up road trips. They're great for so if
you're going somewhere just to keep stuff in there organized,
not spilling around everywhere. And I got to tell you
there's something about them that makes it's like lunchibles.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
It makes them more fun to eat.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Because they're in this like cool little container, but they're
they're flying off the shelves.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
You know, I'm gonna try that's a great a you
better try that for my kids who are going to
be thirty on next.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Oh yeah, you put I know the way they eat,
or at least barbaracks.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Go ahead and put some some chicken fingers in there. Yes,
some cheese.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
It's yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, some yeah, happy meals.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, it is the way she eats.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Now, a little politics, I guess the craft Heines people
spending three billion dollars on US manufacturing facilities.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Is this something that was already in the works or
is this a political move?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Well, you know, I've heard both that it's like something
they wanted to do. But you can't help but believe
this is a reaction to the tariffs and saying, you
know what, we do want to invest. So craft Hins
will spend three billion dollars on its US manufacturing facilities.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
They confirm this.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
It's the largest investment in its plants in decades. So
I'd say, yeah, it's got But where it's got to
tie into that?
Speaker 1 (09:40):
If not in the US, where do they manufacture and
what do they manufacture overseas or in Canada or in Mexico.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Well, you know, it's not always the product itself.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
It could be packaging, it could be a lot of
different things, and you know, sourcing ingredients right now what
you're finding, Bill, And I think this is a good thing.
And I think it does have to do with President
Donald Trump and the tariffs. I think, you know, businesses
here in the United States are looking for alternative, if
(10:10):
not varied, and diversed supply chains. And I think that
if nothing else comes of it, I think that's a
huge win to be more diversified and less dependent on
places like China, but to be more diversified on your
supply chain, I think is a powerful tool for any business.
(10:31):
So this definitely looks like it came out of the
Trump tariffs. And this is tough set the impact of
you know, the uncertainty with trade and stuff like that,
and I think this is a good thing.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, it's you know, even though you're not talking about
thousands of manufacturing jobs. You know, for example, they don't
have individuals filling those little boxes of mac and cheese
where someone is taking an eight ounce cup and then
putting in the box. And then you know those are
usually done by machine. So you're not going to see
a zillion jobs, but investment, the construction, the tax base,
(11:07):
I mean it. You know, there's a lot to be
said long term. What Trump wants to do is is
a good thing really quickly. And we only have a
minute or two free burgers at Burger King.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
How do you say no to that? What do I do?
Just walk up and go give me a burger?
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Well, this is the cool thing because you've got National
Hamburger Day coming up, and then you know, you on
the twenty eighth, and so what they've been doing, they've
already started the twenty second. Just yesterday they had free
Church cheeseburger with purchase of a dollar or more. Today
they've got a free Whopper Junior with a purchase of
a dollar or more. Then it will keep going through
(11:43):
the twenty eighth. And basically, all these menus and all
these great things that they have there, and being able
to get these is to they want you to part
you anticipate in their royal perks. So you go to
get these deals, you must be a member of their perk.
So they're Burger King's rewards program basically is what it is.
(12:04):
And you want to place the burger King order online
on the burger King app, and that activates all these
specific special offers and they're each day. So today, the
twenty fourth to twenty fifth, twenty six, seven, twenty eight,
you can get free stuff, even an original chicken sandwich
with a purse purchase.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Okay, so all you're doing, I mean, that's kind of
a neat deal, But what you're actually paying for it
is you have to accept twenty eight email blasts per
hour throughout the entire day.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Okay, I told you this a thousand times.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Go to Gmail, make a give me free stuff at
gmail dot com or whatever you want to do, open
another email account that it doesn't go directly to your
main account and get these big deal and it will
be just for your your for these types of deals,
and you don't use your main account, we still have.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
To look at him, and you still have to go
through four hundred of them.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
You don't just assume anything that goes to that email
box is garbage.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's the point you're I was going to look at
it anyway. We'll talk about that later because uh, and
that's a great topic
