Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is a foody Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Everybody loves Friday, tg y q ls V Friday.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
It's all good stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
And that means that Neil and I do our foody
Friday segment. You know, we'll get to Costco at some point.
But even more exciting than Costco is free food. Oh yes,
and this morning I brought in some carry cake from

(00:32):
Stonefire Grill this morning and Neil said, you didn't pay
for it, did you? And I smiled and said gift card?
Gift card?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
No, of course not.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I've I make substantially substantially less money than you do,
and I don't get that excited over gift cards. You
know what.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
It's a religious slash ethnic issue.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah? It is?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Okay, it really is.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Sorry enough, sir, Okay, now let's talk about free food
at Burger King. That got me my excitement up. I
got some wood on that one. What I could hear
down the hallway. I don't know who it was, but
I can hear down the hallway. Someone go rows. Okay,

(01:24):
moving on free food at Burger King, I want to boycott.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
God. Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
So there's a lot going on October at Burger King
and people, you know, sometimes we'll say, how can you
talk about fast food and costco all the time on
Handles show on Friday. I'm like, because one, that's what
handle wants and tow it does well. Hey, Cono, doesn't
it do well? As far as the podcast go, Cono's

(01:55):
not even there. Oh there he is the best, the best, right,
it does very well Foodie Friday. Right, So okay, so
stop arguing. Okay, so what's going on right now? You've
got today, you've got a free four piece chicken fries
there at Burger King. Tomorrow you're going to have a
free four piece Cinni minis, and then on the twenty

(02:17):
six a free whopper Junior.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Okay, hang on a minute.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
When you say four for free fries, is that chicken fries?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Those are like chicken strips? Oh got it, They're okay,
just come in like a freeze.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Is why you walk in the door. You get it
for free?

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, they always have something. In this case, it's the
loyalty rewards program.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Okay, so you have to be a part of that.
But okay, big deal.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Well you know you get only yeah, you have to
do the email.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
You get the email you ask so funny like you
don't want When you say free, you don't want to
do anything except be bill handled.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
That is correct.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
You want to be bill handled, and people go here,
mister bill Handle, we want to give you something free.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
And that's it.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
That is absolutely correct. That happens for one person. I know,
Bill Handle.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
You can make that happen. It's you know how they
tell you can. You can be anybody you want.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
This is America, and it doesn't matter who or what
you're doing. You pull yourselves by the bootstraps and you
can do any You can be president, and in my case,
you can get free food. It's along the same line
because of moral ethics and standards that I have. What
are those as a human beings? What are those human beings?

(03:30):
Are people that well? Never mind?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
But yeah, so for those of you who are interested,
Burger King has that for you? Going on? Right now?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Okay, let's talk.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
You know, you just pointed out where we have, you know,
monitors all over the studio here and you're looking at
a commercial. We keep those on silent where they're already
starting Christmas. Oh, there was a commercials commercial, I know,
the twenty fourth of October. Completely we haven't even had
spooky time. Yeah, we're not done with spooky time, I know.
So what specials specific to Halloween are going on right now?

(04:05):
Because the free food at Burger King is not specific
to Halloween, it's just I assume just coincidental that is
the end of the month. Yeah, that's just that has
no tie in whatsoever that I'm aware of. This is
the fact that they're giving away some food.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
So what do they do because.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
I don't remember Halloween themed fast food promotion. Well, they
do have a lot of promotions going on in fast
food right now. They have some Black bund Burgers, they
have a lot of there was a Wendy's partnership with Wednesday,

(04:42):
the television show on Netflix.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
There's a lot of them going on right now.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
As far as you go to Krispy Kreme and they
have the decorated Halloween donuts that come out each year.
There's a lot of fast food tie ins for Halloween,
more than ever before as a matter of fact, because
hallowe I mean, is quickly becoming one of the biggest holidays.
Because you've got candy purchases, you've got costume purchases, you've

(05:09):
got decor purchases, food purchases, so it's growing massively in
every front And like I said, we just spent like
a hundred bucks for candy, and I bet you we're
gonna have to get more before.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Do you dress up for Helloween?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
All? Sometimes I'll put something on when we're you know,
passing out candy or something like that. But we'll have
an open house this year because it lands on a Friday,
which means family and friends can come by at anytime
and just kind of circle through and we'll have food
and I'll decorate the front yard. It'll be a haunted mansion.
Theme this year would be free food. No, there's a

(05:46):
good chance I'm gonna come by.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
You know.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I have a reverse belief system when it comes to
bill Handle. Everybody gets free food except you. So that's
all I care about. And you dress up?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
You don't dress up at all? Okay?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Amy?

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Do you do your whole house?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
But I don't dress up? Go to town? Amy, do
you dress up at all? I usually do?

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Okay for even if you're not going to a party. Yeah,
you know what, Lindsay does the same thing. She says,
we'll get a dress up for Halloween. You know, when
the kids open the door and go what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Yeah, if you do it for the trick or treaders,
what the hell are you doing? I mean, it's for me.
It's easy.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
You know. I have varicos veins, so I just put
a bathing suit and I come as a roadmap.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
But that's the rest of it is.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I I don't get dressing up for kids that are
coming to the door.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Why would you do that?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Guys should go as the old guy in the tramp.
That's what I know where you can get it up.
Oh good god, all right, Uh we'll.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Come back with more.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Oh yeah, I'm just sitting here, just waiting, all right.
Uh some Costco news. Yes, I put this in here
because one it's Costco and two it might be an
abomination to you. So Costco just dropped its pumpkin spice bagels.
What's your face?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
You're lolding? Your face just dropped.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yeah, you know when you mentioned pumpkin spice bagels, you
can't say pumpkin spice and bagels in the same sentence.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
But those are not bagels.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
They're not jew bagels, and the only kind of real
bagels are jew bagels. And they're only there's really only
one kind of jew bagels.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
And that's the A and that's plain bagel, water bagel.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Now close to that is onion bagel and egg bagel.
After that, then let's go next tier up, which we've
just crossed the line in terms of real jew bagels.
Then you have garlic bagels, salt bagels, everything bagels.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Those are quasi they're earsots bagel.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Uh. Then we have the blueberry, the cinnamon, uh, the
chocolate bagels, chocolate chip, and pumpkin spice bagels.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Pumpkin spice.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I know, come on, guys, that is that.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Gonna be the straw that broke the coummels back for you?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
An I've never had. I'm not gonna go to Costco.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
And I would never have a pumpkin spice.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Baby. What if they offered a free sample.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I actually would say no to that.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I would say no, they're very good.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I would say no to wait. That is a sacrilege.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
People.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
People say that if you can put a little cream
cheese on there makes them uh uh contender for the
best fall breakfast.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Wrong.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
I could have been a contender.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
No, yeah, this is okay, it's just a horrible cozy. Also,
one of the scriptors out here. One of the things
about bagels at Costco is they are horrible.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I mean, I don't us they have.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I don't know that I've ever perched.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, they're not good. I mean they're cheap, but they're
not good. You have to go to a real bagel place.
I describe you exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Well, Okay, so you won't be getting them.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
No, I will not. Okay, I don't care. I would
have gotten rid of them.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Okay. I want to tell you one last thing. This
is super cool.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
So if you're out there with your kids trick or
treating all of that, and you see a teal pumpkin
on the porch, you know whether someone's painted a pumpkin
teal or whether it's an artificial one.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
This is something very very sweet.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
So it started as like this basic gesture for kids
with food allergies, but now it's become this global movement
on days like Halloween to let kids know or parents
know that there are non food treats available for children
with food allergies, so that it shows that that house

(09:50):
is aware that there are kids that can't have treats
like that food treats. So what they do is they
make sure that they have stuff for kids with food allergies,
and I thought that is a what a cool way
to celebrate this particular holiday. So glow sticks or stickers
or small toys or any of these non food items

(10:13):
can be offered up to a child. And as a
parent of an eight year old who we often have
kids over to the house, we always make sure that
we have stuff, whether it's you know, friends that have
Type one diabetes or they have a peanut allergy, or
they have whatever, to make sure that they feel like

(10:33):
they are part of things as well.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
How about an upside down pineapple?

Speaker 3 (10:38):
That well, I think you know what that means.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Sir, So I don't want to put that on the porch,
Dewie if you put it?

Speaker 3 (10:45):
What what an upside down pumpkin means? Who's getting it
on that day?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:51):
No, an upside an upside down pineapple means something else.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Don't put that in your front yard. Bill and Lindsay
might show up and say.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Hi, you seem like a nice couple. But I thought
that was just a really sweet thing. And it was
founded by this woman, Becky bus Alone, back in twenty thirteen,
and it's adopted by a group called Fair and it's
basically just a local effort in global awareness about kids

(11:20):
with food allergies.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Or hey, we know that Halloween is growing among adults.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
It's become it's basically become an adult holiday where you
have Halloween parties and costumes and people make a big
big deal about it. Is there any growth in terms
of kids or is that basically flat? That's an excellent question.
I don't know that I have the answer to it.
I do know that, you know, just watching objectively would

(11:46):
be a totally anecdotally I guess is looking or subjectively
carry the one is looking around. We get a decent number,
but we tend to decorate our house, right. But you
know what's happening in my neighborhood this year. They're blocking
off more streets than ever before. So they block them
off make them safe for kids to walk through, and

(12:07):
and that's a good sign to me, you know. So
that's happening more and more. But parents are pickier. We're
picky as to where we're taking Oh yeah, helicopter parenting,
especially trick or treating.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
I mean that's on a whole

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Being aware, We're not crazy about it, but being aware
