Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's say good morning now to the host of Home
on CAFI, the house whisper Dean Sharp.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Good morning, Dean, Good morning Amy.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
So we were talking about what we needed to address
this week because it's it's Christmas week. There's probably not
a lot of major projects being worked on around the
house because people are getting ready for Christmas. Exactly, exactly,
So let's talk about things that you can get for
your friends, family loved ones that might help them with
(00:29):
their DIY projects after Christmas is over.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah, exactly, people are some people are still thinking what
do I get that person, that handy person in our
life who you know has already seems like they've got
a lot of tools and unique things. And so, you know,
a couple three weeks ago, as we always do, right
after Thanksgiving, we put together our twenty twenty five Holiday
(00:53):
Gift Guide and I curate it myself. I've got twenty
five items on it this year. You can find it
on the KFI website under our page Home with Dean.
It's actually posted there in PDF forms, so you get
prices and links and photographs as well. But there's just
a lot of cool stuff on it, because there are
a lot of cool tools out there, everything from little
(01:16):
stocking stuffer is up to you know, ritzy one of
a kind thing. So what would you like today, Amy, Well, stock, Let's.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Talk about a stocking stuffer first, and then we'll go
and go a little onto the ritzy.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Okay, So assuming that a stocking stuffer is like, let's say,
a you know, under twenty dollars gift, then I think
that there is probably no better informed gift that you
could give somebody other than a really really well designed
utility knife. Okay, some people call them exacto blades. That's
(01:54):
not what it is. It's a utility knife. It's got
a big razor blade in it. But utility knives come
there in every shape and size, and most of them
are really poorly designed. What you really want is something
that holds spare blades, that's got a great grip, that's
really ergonomic and is tough. And the Dwault Tough Series
retractable utility knife is one that I've had in my
(02:18):
workbench for I don't know how long. I've got multiple
of them around. It is my go to knife and
it comes in around seventeen bucks.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Okay, and I love this too, because you mentioned the
great grip because you guys have box cutters and they're
dark gray and they're made out of metal, so they're sturdy.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
But I'm always worried about slipping.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, well, my hand's gonna slip and I'm gonna cut
it open with that big blade exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Most box cutters are just straight and slick and smooth,
and so you put a lot of pressure down or
if your hand gets sweaty or any wet or anything
like that, then yeah, everybody's worried about slipping, and it
is a concern. I've cut myself on more than one
occasion on that kind of a utility NFE. This utility
knife has an ergonomic grip. It's actually bent in the
(03:04):
center so your hand cannot slip forward on it, and
it's got a rubberized grip on the bottom, rubberized grip
on the top.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
It is just a joy to work with.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Okay, So this is out of the stocking stuffer category
because it's two hundred and thirty nine dollars for a hammer.
Why would I spend two hundred and thirty nine dollars
on a hammer?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Well, you know what, if you've got somebody who truly
is the person who has everything, and you really want
to purchase for them something so unique yep, so out
of the box, but not something that just sits around truly,
honestly arguably the world's greatest hammer. Then you got to
(03:46):
go onto the Stiletto website Stiletto Tools, and you're looking
for the fifteen ounce tye bone. It's not t bone,
tie bone, milled face handle, a hammer with a curved handle.
It is a titanium hammer. Fifteen ounce. Yeah, two hundred
and thirty nine dollars far as I know, the most
(04:07):
expensive hammer on earth out of the box, not because
the army bought it, but because it's actually that much.
But it's a brilliant hammer. Shock resistant titanium makes it
ultra light weight and for the longest of times, I
mean I remember when I started as a carpenter, you know,
thirty plus years ago, the very first thing they handed
(04:29):
me was a thirty two ounce I mean it was
like a mini sledge hammer hanging off our hip. Because
it for then it was all about, well, the heavier
the hammer, the easier it is to pound nails. But
we have learned so much about how hammers work just
in the last thirty years now we understand that it's
the speed that the hammerhead flies that actually creates most
(04:51):
of the force, and so you can lighten up on
the hammer head itself. And this hammer not only has
every great feature. It's got magnetic nails set up on top.
It's got straight claws, which is the best for pulling nails.
It's got a titanium handle, like I said, that is
rubberized also so won't slip, and it's shock proof. And
(05:15):
I love the face of this hammer. The face comes
in milled. Now what that means is that kind of
waffle pattern for rough nailing. But it's interchangeable with a
smooth head and a rubber mallet head. So it's really
three different hammers in one. It's a framing hammer, it's
a finished hammer, it's a rubber mallet and it is
truly the last hammer anybody would ever buy for their life.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
And you know this is awesome too, because it might
be something that somebody would like. Oh, I'm not going
to do that for myself, but what a cool.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Present exactly I would not buy.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I have not bought this hammer for myself, but I
have bought it for a couple of people.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
In the past.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Plus these hammers they come in like four or five
different colors with multiple colored grips. You can really customize them.
They're really a work of art. But they're not a
work of art that just sits on a shelf. You know,
somebody will get to use one on day one.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
I just got a text from my sister in law
because we were trying to figure out what my mom
needs because she has everything, and she says, your mom
has everything, but I don't think she'd want that hammer. Well,
she doesn't do a lot of hammering anymore.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
And I mean, for God's sakes, okay, and.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
You can still be fashionable while you're doing work around
the house. And everybody loves a good car heart.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Oh my gosh, this is my favorite jacket. I own
this jacket.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
So this is my full, full endorsement for the car
Heart Men's Shirp aligned utility jacket. I mean, I just
took this to Montana. We were walking around the Bozeman
Stroll in this jacket. It was twenty eight degrees outside.
I had just a T shirt on underneath, and I
was cozy, comfortable. But this, have no doubt, this is
(06:55):
not This is not some Rodeo drive jacket. This is
a full on Hof exterior work jacket. Some people would
call it a ranch jacket, has an integrated hood in it,
and it is comfortable. When I say work jacket, what
I mean is that there are plats behind both shoulders.
So as warm and comfy as this jacket is, the
(07:18):
arm movement is amazing. You can just reach forward seamlessly
because there's extra material back there. And despite all of that,
it's got a great look. It hangs really great. No
one would be embarrassed about wearing this thing out on
the town. It's a fantastic jacket, as are most of
the clothes from Carhart.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Yep, I do love a man in a car heart
