Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's say good morning now to the host of Rich
on Tech right here on KFI KTLA's tech reporter rich Demiro. Rich,
I have to tell you I'm bummed about the index
pebble ring that you told us about last week.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Why what you can't get it?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Because you can't get it yet. I was going to
get it for a friend Christmas. I was like, seventy
five bucks. I can't afford that. I'm going to go
order one, and they're like, march.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
I know, and I keep it's so funny, and I
think I said this the first time. I want it
so bad. I keep like using the finger on my
index like my thumb on my index finger to like
mimic where it would be to like kind of practice
when I have it, Like I'm in the car, I'm like, oh,
I have a thought. Let me see if I can
do that right now. And I'm like, okay, cool, I'm
ready for this thing.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I think it's going to be invaluable to me because
I have the memory of a nat and so I
think it's going to help me out a lot. Okay,
let's talk about Instagram, because Instagram is leaving your wild
staying on your phone, but it's also heading to your TV.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I downloaded the new app yesterday. It's on fire T
and it's basically Instagram reels, and I got to say
it had me hooked. I watched for maybe twenty minutes.
I was like, Okay, this is kind of cool because
when you're on your phone, you're sitting there and you're
basically doing it in between other stuff that you know
you need to do. When you're sitting on your couch
and watching your TV, it's a whole different story. So
I was able to be engaged with the reels, and

(01:19):
of course I'm playing more of them, and that is,
you know, good for Instagram, good for creator. So again,
Instagram app available for fire TV lets you flip through
your reels, and I was impressed. I might start opening
this app on a regular basis on my TV.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Okay, And then.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Here's a question, because you know, when you've got it
on your phone, you're swiping and tapping and all of
that stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
How do you navigate it on TV?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
You can use the remote, but it's leaned back, so
the reels just play and the next one pops up,
or you can just you know, switch to the next one.
By pressing the almost like the channel up or down button.
But basically that's it. And so I was flipping through,
I was watching, I was flipping. It was great, I mean,
really really kind of fun. Different way to consume those.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Does it cost anything?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It is free, just your attention and the other things
you're not doing. You're just the time of the things
you're not getting done exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
And is it AD free?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I didn't encounter any ads, but I don't know if
it has ads or not, so that's a good question.
I didn't encounter any of my twenty minutes.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Okay, well we'll be watching for that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Okay, I'm sure they're there. I'm sure they will be there.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
So Netflix is teaming up with iHeartMedia, our parent company,
to bring video podcasts to the platform.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah. Kind of an interesting move here because you know,
most video podcasts are on YouTube, and iHeart saying, you
know what, we think we have some pretty good podcasts
here that video podcast that people want to watch, some
from some big names like the Breakfast Club shows from
Chelsea Handler, Bobby Bones. Those are all going to be
on Netflix exclusively for the video. The audio will still

(03:01):
be available everywhere and So this is going to be
about fifteen shows to start, and it's kind of a
new thing for Netflix. They're saying, and they're cutting right
towards me here. They're saying, Hey, we want to fill
the space once held by morning TV shows. So they're
thinking that people will put on these podcasts in the
morning while they get ready for work, which is really interesting.

(03:21):
So but Netflix hasn't had content like this before, but
now they're just throwing everything at the wall and seeing
what sticks, you know.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Okay, and then before I let you go, I heard
you talking with Handle yesterday about the top ten tech
items for the holidays.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
We don't have time for all ten, so just can
you give us like the top three?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, I'll give you a couple. So this is all
on the website rich on tech dot TV. Let's see
VR headset is great, Apple Watch is great. Noise canceling headphones, Kindle,
smart ring, smart glasses, those metaglasses they just got new features.
Those are awesome. Number three air pods. Everyone loves AirPods,
especially I have an iPhone. Number two the Aura digital

(04:01):
photo frame. If you're thinking of something, if you can't
think of something for someone, just go ahead and get
them that they will absolutely love it. Number one a
little more, you know, they have to be engaged in this.
The Nintendo switched to It's got the bigger screens, got
four K output to TV, lots of games to play,
easy to pick up and play. So there you go.
The whole list is on the website.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Okay, and then Nintendo switches more of an investment.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
But I will agree with you wholeheartedly on those photo
frames because I got one from my mom a couple
of years ago. Actually, it's called a view clicks and
they're great there, and she loves it because she gets
new pictures of the kids and we kind of stay
in touch with her because she's in another state.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
And I just think, I think it's wonderful, wonderful.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
It's an easy win and these things. I really like
you what's that?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
And it's not super expensive.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
No, And it's just it's just I've never met someone
that's like, I don't want to see great pictures of
your family and kids on my you know, in my kitchen.
Like nobody's ever said that.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
