Speaker 1 (00:22):
It's later with Mo Kelly kay if I am six forty.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We're live on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Good evening to you.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
First and foremost, I have to say thank you to
Stephan who helped me get in the building today because
my badge was working.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
I thought for a moment they officially fired me, but
not yet. It wasn't a hint, not yet.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I got one more day, made it in, I know,
and I'm gonna tell some of the business behind the scenes.
We don't have like conventional phones here anymore, so I
couldn't like really call Stephan the normal way as far
as the bat phone in the studio, I had to
call the hotline originally texted you and you probably weren't

(01:05):
looking at your phone.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah it was. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
So I'm just hanging out in the lobby. Employees are
coming and leaving going home for the like, hey, Mo,
what are you doing down here?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
It's like, well, I have a good day.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, And producer Michelle that hooked me up with a
new badge, and then belly O came downstairs and brought
me back up.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
You know, I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
So if you're not for you, Stephan, we would not
be having this show right now. True, because if it
wasn't for you, I wouldn't be able to get up here,
and I wouldn't be able to let in Daniel and Carnesia.
Whole show would have fallen apart. The motown would have
been non existent. No, no, it would have been the
end of something wonderful. But I'm glad to be here.
And if this show tonight sounds a little bit like

(01:47):
last night, there's a reason. Remember last night we talked
about Kroger closing sixty stores, and I told you about
my favorite or preferred grocery store. Well, tonight we're gonna
be talk talking about not one, but two Trader jos
on the same damn street.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Well they're across the street from each other.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Who puts two grocery stores right opposing each other?

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Now, I gotta ask real quick before we get to
that story next segment. Does anyone hear shop at Trader Joe's.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I used to shop at one of those Trader Joe's
when I lived in Sherman Oaks. That was the Trader
Joe's I went to. And when I saw them building
the mega Trader Joe's across the street. I said to myself, well,
of course they're going to shut down the smaller one,
the mega. Oh it's a mega, it's a mega Trader
Joe's that they're building. I went to the Trader Joe's
at Laurel Canyon and Cole and Ventura Boulevard.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
There used to be a Blockbuster over there, and yeah,
there was a Trader Joe's there.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I don't know if it's even still there.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I could never go inside because the traffic and the
parking was horrible. Yes, so that was not a place
that I was ever going to shop. So I never
really developed idy affinity for Trader Joe's. Yeah, that's one
of their cons is parking is just notoriously horrendous. There
are times where you'll see people parking across the street,
walking across the street to get to Traders.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Joe's, saying, I'm not trying to grocery shop anywhere.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
I might have to walk across the street Inturnal Boulevard.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
But we're gonna talk about Trader Joe's.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
And also, remember last night we talked about the best
and the worst places or cities to have a Fourth
of July celebration. We're gonna tell you tonight about two
cities clearly not on the list, which have canceled their
Independence Day celebrations, but specifically in connection to the ice raids.
Ooh yeah, we're gonna get into that, get into that complexity.

(03:38):
So much to discuss, so much for you to uh well, oh,
I almost forgot. For my final thought tonight, I definitely
have to weigh into the New York City Democratic primary waters.
A lot of discussion has been had about the winner
of that primary, who is not only Muslim, not only

(04:01):
an immigrant, not only a Democratic socialist, but he's also
the front runner to become New York.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
City's next mayor.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And before you get all your outrage out there, I
want to tell you why and how politics works. And
it probably has nothing to do with what you like
or don't like, because we're in La not New York.
So I'll tell you about the New York landscape as
well when we Before the show is over, it's later
with mo Kelly. Join us on YouTube In with the
Mo Migos Motown chat is underway. You can join us

(04:32):
on Facebook, you can join us on Instagram, all those
great things where you can be part of the show
KFI Am six forty.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
It's Later with Mo Kelly.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
We're live everywhere on social media and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
You're listening to Later with Mo Kelly on demand from
KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
K IF I Am six forty. We're live everywhere on
iHeartRadio app. Were live on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. I
know each social media platform offers a different experience. We're
still fiddling with Instagram because if you're watching on your phone,
it's only horizontal, is probably a.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Very small screen. I think you cornish.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Can they cast the video on Instagram to their TV?
I think they can't because yeah, I think I've done
it for other lives, so you should be able to
cast it. Yeah, the phone should be able to just
mirriort to your there you go, yes, yeah, so I know. Yeah,
so it's probably not as easy to look at it
on the phone, but I know everyone you know. But

(05:35):
if you have a smart TV and you have YouTube,
there it is and you're all set. It's very easy
to do it that way. Facebook, from what I've seen,
it looks good enough size where people can watch it
on like a laptop or something like that. You should
be fine, but YouTube on your smart TV is the
best experience.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Just let y'all know.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Also, you should uh tag us, like if you're watching
it on a big screen TV, take a picture and
tag mister Kelly.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, tag post share.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
If you send us a picture, will post to post it,
will will post it. You know, we will shout you out.
It's it's not that difficult. I look forward to receiving
your pictures. And last segment, I was saying, I'm a
rouse guy. I really haven't ever gone to Trader Joe's
except for maybe once or twice in my life, no exaggeration.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
So I don't know what the appeal is to allow.
What's the appeal of.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Trader Joe's finding unique and tasty dishes, ingredients, things that
you're not going to find that your Rouphs or you're
even your Kelson's. I mean, they have some really unique
things that they create, even some event house things. No pavilions, No,
you're not going to find this level of quality of

(06:50):
things that trade way healthily made all that, even when
you have to deal with that terrible parking. The people
that work there are always amazing. You can find great wines,
their chocolate selection, Trader Joe's is a very very good
spot to go to. Is it pricey like Whole Foods,

(07:11):
Whole paycheck? Nah?

Speaker 1 (07:13):
I mean it's comparable.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Okay, it's not that it's cheaper though, Okay, but the
way to find Trader Joe's. But because they have, like
Tuala said, they have one of the kind stuff you
will not find anywhere else. Also, they have really good
cheese popcorn. They do true better than the cheese popcorn
and popcorn we have the Office, Yes, absolutely, I haven't

(07:36):
had the office popcorn in the drawer that I haven't
had any of that, but it's really good.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
The Trader Cheese popcorn is top notch. No, it's a lot.
You could make a trip there just for that. Okay,
I'm not going to a store against some popcorn. But
all right, why do you hate America? I hate America? Goodness,
you know what's gonna happened. So it's gonna say I

(08:02):
heard you, Mo, you said you hate America.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
They'll just get that word. Yeah, you're my host hate America?

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Right, yeah, you airti flag waving liberal Democrat.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
There's the promo that is the trouble. And the funny
thing is none of that would be true.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Doesn't care about cheese popcorn, that's right, care about the
United States of America.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Doesn't shop at Trader Joe's.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
No.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Anyhow, let me just say this.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
I think another reason that people go to Trader Joe's is,
of all the grocery stores, it's got the cheekiest attitude.
And that includes on their packaging, their signage. Oh, they
don't take themselves serious uniforms. No, not at all. Oh yeah,
they were Their uniform is what a Hawaiian shirt?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yep. Yeah, for the most part.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
All right, we're talking about this because it just the
case you did know, here's some backstory. The original Sherman
Oaks Trader Joe's opened in nineteen seventy three, and that's
a standalone building on Riverside Drive, which is really not
too far from here. It's in Sherman Oaks, as I said,
But they've opened up a new Trader Joe's, a larger
Trader Joe's, earlier this month, and it's directly across the

(09:13):
street from the original Sherman Oaks Trader Joe's.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
And I'm thinking, like, well, wasn't one enough.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
I mean, outside of just the parking issues, it seems,
and I haven't been, so it seems that this new
one across the street has underground parking, so there's adequate
parking for everyone just in case you're into that thing.
And it's much larger, so I guess there's more of
that good stuff, probably more popcorn, probably more things for
you to enjoy, those unique items that Tawalla was talking about.

(09:42):
And I'm still probably not gonna go to Trader Joe's,
but it just seemed weird to me.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Why don't you just build a.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Superstore and just pay one rent as opposed to having
two stores and you're paying you know.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
What I mean, It just seems like you have two
sets of overhead No I would, I hear you. But
but but what I haven't been over there. I keep
wanting to go over there. It's like, see the Mega
traders paint a picture for me. I I'm wondering if
the Mega Trader Joe's is now just more parking, bigger
experience when you go there. And then the small one
across the street is where they can do more unique

(10:16):
tasting opportunities, because sometimes they'll do tastings, they'll do cooking demonstrations.
I've been there. They'll cook some stuff as they hair,
and they can find all of these ingredients here from
Trader Joe's and you know, taste a little something, so
they could turn that into a Trader Joe's experience.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
And they usually have free coffee. Don't drink coffee.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I don't drink coffee. But they, like Mark said, I
hate America. I don't drink coffee. But they are kind
of like Costco. They offer a free sample of whatever
their the new item is and they're not stingy about
it either.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
They know it's their policy to never turn anybody away,
no matter how many times they go through that line.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Okay, Like Chick fil A, it used to be you
could walk by and get one tiny bit of a
of a chicken nugget with a toothpick. You could stab
it with a toothpick and you get one little tiny
cost No, no, I'm talking about chick fil A, Chick
fil A, Chick fil A back in the day, like
in Gelomo Mall, and I'm really digging deep. You walk

(11:12):
by Chick fil A and it'll be a young person
holding a platter of chicken nuggets with toothpicks stuck in them. Yep,
and you can come by and get a free one.
And I would walk by five or six times and
I would and it would be you're back again, damn right,
where is my nugget?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
I remember one time they had this, uh, this pesto
spread and over these these like a no, no Trader Joe's.
There's some pesto spread over these kind of sour dough crackers,
and I remember guy had one in This guy had
one in his hand and he was munchie and he said,
let me get it, Let me get another one of

(11:51):
the Let me get a couple of those, because I'm
gonna be walking around the store from him. And he
just puts them on a napkin. Was just like walk around.
And I mean, I felt like, now I can't go
and do that because now everyone's looking at him like
you pig.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
But I was kind of.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Jealous of the fact that he took advantage of Like.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
You said, and they don't skip on it, you'll get
the full serving.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Look that might. No, it won't.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
It's not gonna get me to go to trade. Come,
you're just being stubborn. No, there's not a Trader Joe's
on the way to anywhere. It's not one on the
way home. It's not one way here. There's not one
to my Is there one around us? Closest one to
us if I'm using your area would probably be Manhattan Beach.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, that's not close. That's not close. It's not in
my path driving, So I mean i'd.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Have to make a special trip to go get some
pesto spread. Does your wife go? No, she's Costco all
the way Costco? Is she She's going to Manhattan Beach.
She's going to Costco. There's got to be a Trader show.
It's closer than that. I'm saying, I don't know of one,
and you've been to my house, so you know the
path I'm driving home.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
I don't. I don't know of one.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Well, let me just add one more thing about Trader Joe's,
the apparently brothel adjacent Ralphs that I go to at
night on the way home from work to breathe. Okay,
the personnel, their attitude kind of ranges somewhere between Surley
and Travis Bickle from taxi driver. But all the people
at Trader Joe's are always pleasant and they seem fairly happy.

(13:21):
A friend of mine who's an Next movie critic, got
a full time job at Trader Joe's because he had
to make ends meet because newspapers are going extinct.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
No, he couldn't be happier there. They treat him really well,
they make good money. Yeah, okay, all right, it's got
all around moment. No, I'm saying I can understand why
people want to work there. I'm just saying, what's in
it for me to go out of my way to
go there? Fun food and a fairly pleasant attitude. If
he got to go to a grow, they treat.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Their employees really well, they pay them really well. That's
where my son is going to get his first job.
Started working for me.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
He was going to work there because you can start
working there, I believe in like fifteen or something like that.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
But yes, well, you know, for a.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Summer it sounds like it probably is illegal summer job. Okay,
wait wait, wait to wallet to wall over. Statue of
limitations has already expired. How were you when you started
working in Taco Bell?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Oh? Was thirteen? Thirteen? See? Yeah, see, but I lied
on my application. Clearly you didn't walk in and get
a job.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Saying you were actually thirteen, I need to Yeah, well
I wasteen I remember I was working late hours.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah, and it was like.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
I couldn't understand why I was working so late. Remember
telling the managers I was wrong, thirteen, Why are you actually?

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Like what what were you? I think I was.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
I think it was like fifteen, were working on a
strip clubs? I worked at it. I wish no, I
was working at a I was doing maintenance for a gym.
But uh, yeah, you had to be sixteen or yeah,
sixty sixteen and I was like fourteen. So yeah, I
just I just lied and they they and they knew,
but it's like, hey, we need the labor. It's just

(14:57):
a difference. They didn't have the same type of databases
that that social media didn't exist. They just had the paper.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
That was enough.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
They look at you and they see that you wrote
down and that's it. And they didn't even ask for
like driver's license back then. They just oh, your name
is Steve, Yes, it is okay, come aboard.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
I will consider Trader Joe's if someone can find one
that's near me in my neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
We'll all go together. It'll be like a bro trip.
Yes I'm not I'm not going to the grocery store
with you. Come on, I don't know you like that
popcorn before the movie.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
That's assuming that Mark actually shows up, because he left
us hanging. He left us at the altar last time.
When what are you talking about? You are you kidding right?

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Mark?

Speaker 3 (15:47):
You do not remember not showing up for our last movie? Outing, No,
it's time to do the news. Oh, Stephan, you want
to remind him before.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
We did this, just for I had something in going on.
You had something to do with your mouth, if I
remember correctly.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Oh yeah, I do remember that I had a dental emergency. Yes,
and it's really generous about No, I'm trying to jog
your memory. No, No, I appreciate you bringing that up
and holding it against me while I was in pain
at the time.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
That's great of you. Thank you, pain, he said, You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on demand from
KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
K I AM six forty is Later with Mo Kelly.
Let's talk about the fourth of July real quickly. And
I also want to remind you that Chateau Lemo will
be hosting this year's I'll say it's the fifth annual
Chateau lemo live broadcast where we have a broadcast from
my house basically, and some of the mo Miagles were

(16:57):
asking if they're invited. Uh, you're welcome to watch online.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
I love you.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
But this is at the house, not some public theater.
But we have a live broadcast. You get to see
a dessert competition that we have every single year. It's
great fun. People baked desserts and they have to come
and present them almost like sell them, and then they're
tasted and they're judged accordingly and they get real prizes.

(17:27):
And you're doing a livestream too, right, Oh yeah, yeah,
I don't it's up to Daniel. As far as house sophisticated,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I don't know either way. There's gonna be a live broadcast.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
There's gonna be a live broadcast at the minimum, and
there will be a video component to it.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Sweet.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
So that's coming up on July fourth, obviously, something that
is not coming up on July fourth. Two cities, actually
three have canceled their Independence Day events, two of them
specifically regarding the race ice raids.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
One no reason was given.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Cuta Hay where ninety seven percent of the population is
Hispanic or Latino. They announced yesterday on social media that
it was postponing its Independence Day celebration and the actually
we're going to have it on July third, and it
was supposed to take place from three to nine pm
at Cutahey Park. It was going to feature live music,

(18:22):
food trucks, and a firework show. Sounds like a lot
of fun, but no.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Quote.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
The City of Cutaey has decided to postpone the Independence
Day celebration due to recent events and concerns regarding the
safety of our residents. We appreciate your cooperation and that's
an official statement from the city. And you probably heard
about the parallel controversy concerning the Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez,
who in a i'll say a social media video called

(18:51):
out gang members basically asking them to get involved as
far as protecting the city.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
I'll reach you exactly what she said. She said, quote,
you guys.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Tag everything up, claiming hood, and now that your hood's
being invaded by the biggest gang there is, there ain't
a peep out of you. And she called out two gangs,
Eighteenth Street and Florence. She's received a lot of hell
for that, and that's going to play itself out. I
know that some people were protesting her, saying that given

(19:25):
that she has a prominent position with the city and
Bell Gardens, which is right next door to cut Hay
also announced that it was canceling a concert in two
outdoor movie nights quote out of an abundance of caution
regarding concerns for resident safety over federal immigration enforcement activities
close quote And the third city is nearby Huntington Park,

(19:48):
and if you don't know, that's predominantly Latino and announced
earlier this week on Tuesday, that it was postponing it's
July third Independence Day celebration, but didn't give a reason.
I understand why cities are doing this. And after a
certain point, you have to, you rightfully have to assume
that there's going to be an ice presence over the

(20:10):
holiday weekend, and if it turns into something you can't control,
which most likely it will, you just don't want to
put your residence. And I will say, just in the
line of that, you don't want to put them in
a situation where you have families, kids, fireworks, and then
all of a sudden you have a situation when they're

(20:31):
chasing people down and trying to arrest them.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
I get that.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
I don't know if there's a better time, But I
understand when you have cities airing on the side of caution,
and you may not agree with that, But if I
were the city manager or a mayor, yeah, I would
recommend the exact same thing, because why would you put
hundreds of people in a position where it could be
complete bedlam. No, no, you just wouldn't. And so ICE

(20:58):
is still going to do what it's going to do.
But if I'm the mayor of Bell Gardens or Huntington
Park or cut A Hay, no not doing it, if
only because the last thing I would want is someone
get hurt, someone gets shot, you know, some sort of
violence breakout in opposition to ICE or because of ICE.

(21:20):
I understand why cities would err on the side of caution.
Now other cities don't have to make that calculation, but these.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Do beyond airing on the side of caution. For all
the many reasons you laid out, it's also an awareness
of who your supporters are in those communities and how
those communities are being impacted by the raids. It almost
seems counterintuitive and almost wrong to be celebrating something like this,

(21:54):
when these raids are happening, celebrating independence and celebrating this
country's freedom, when you have people who are on the
surface being snatched and taken away.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Yeah, there's some irony to it and the visuals.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
We can talk about illegal immigration as a matter of law,
but we should also talk about as a matter of people.
And I don't want people to be put in harm's way.
And we know that they're going any place in every place.
They're going to car washers, they're going to churches, they're
going to schools. No, and also you have to think

(22:33):
about there are people who are going to have to
actually manage these events who may be at risk as well.
You know, it's not like they just have the event
and people from the community show up. No, people from
the community actually manage the events and handle the events
and handle the fireworks and handle the food and everything.
I'm quite sure they're saying like, sorry, I can't do it,

(22:55):
can't do it, can't risk that for my family, can't
risk being separated from my family. And so I'm going
to very respectfully bow out. Maybe next year. Yeah, I
get it. And now, in fact, I would expect to
see more cities doing the same thing depending on the
demographics of their communities, but expect more between now and

(23:16):
then to make the same decision because there's zero upside,
absolutely zero. When we come back, we go to talk
about Amtrak and their new Pacific Surfliner Disney themed railcar,
and I got to tell you, if you have a
chance to write on Amtrak, take advantage of it. KFI
AM six forty is later with mo Kelly. We're live
everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Get

(23:40):
the chat going in with the momigos in Motown and
we'll read some of your comments on the air.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Next you're listening to Later with mo Kelly on demand
from KFI AM six.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Forty kf I AM six fortieth Later with Moe Kelly,
and we had a very spicy moment in the motil
chat talking about whether cities should cancel their Independence Day
celebrations given concerns about ice raids and given their relative demographics.

(24:15):
Talked about cutting Haye, talked about Bell Gardens, talked about
Huntington Park, and I would say sixty one percent of
the people in the Motown chat on YouTube said no,
they should not be canceled the celebrations they should go on.
I understand that sentiment. But of the people who believe that,

(24:35):
let's say you are not in the Motown Chat, but
you're one of the people who agree with that sentiment,
I would ask you, do you understand anything about liability?
If someone gets hurt at one of these events, they
sue the city. It's just as simple, who do you
think is running these events? The Independent Independence Day celebrations

(25:00):
cut He is ninety seven percent I think, I said,
like ninety seven percent Latino. Who do you think is
actually running the food trucks, the games, the fireworks.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
You're gonna say that they have to show up.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
They have to put themselves in their family, extended family
in possible danger, because not everyone impacted by this is
actually an illegal alien.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
We're talking about family members too.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
These cities made a calculation, a risk assessment, and I
find that the people who are allowed us about this
on social media in the Motown chat do not live
in cut a Hey, do not live in Bell Gardens,
do not live in Huntington Park. So it it impacts

(25:52):
you absolutely not at all, not at all. Kind of
like who won the Democratic primary for mayor in New
York City. People got a lot of things to say
about stuff which does not impact them at all.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
But if it directly impacted you, that'd be kind of different.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
If you were getting ready to drive your ass over
to Bell Gardens next Wednesday because you wanted to check
out the fireworks at Bell Gardens or Huntington Park or
cut it. Hey, then I would listen to that argument
just somewhat differently. But as they say, if there's no
skin off your back, no pun intended. I don't know
exactly why you would be upset. We have some people

(26:31):
who are upset using profanity, dropping f bombs. We booted
them out, but I think it highlights this disconnect where
we get so emotionally involved in issues which do not
touch us at all, does not touch our family members,
does not touch us in an employment sense.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
We have so much to say about it.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Just imagine if someone told you, hey, you need to
do this in your city. Well, does it involve you, No,
but you need to do that. How do you think
you would respond? If I told you this is what
you need to do in your house, how would you respond?

Speaker 1 (27:11):
It's the same thing. It's the same.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Thing, and the elected officials for the city of Bell
Gardens cut a he, cut a hey and also a
Huntington Park. They've made decisions relative to liability and safety.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
And if it goes left, what are you gonna say? Then?

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Oh, well, too bad, so sad. At least they had
an Independence Day fireworks show. No, you're not even going,
and you don't care about anyone who's there. You don't
care about anyone who may get caught up in an
ice raid. You may not even care about the people
who may be hurt in the administration of an ice raid.
And you're not gonna be there for the cleanup, the

(27:56):
literal cleanup or the emotional cleanup.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
People to remember that when we get so.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Incensant and mad about ish, that does not impact you
at all. And the cities first and most important responsibility
is to its residents keeping them safe. Remember when people
were so mad at still mad as a matter of fact,

(28:22):
at Mayor Karen Bass about what happened during the fires.
What I heard again and again is a mayor's chief
responsibilities to what keep residents safe. That's it not have
a party, not have a fireworks show, not make sure
that they're selling hot dogs and Hamburgers with food trucks

(28:45):
and people waving around little American flags. No, that's not
their primary responsibility. If something presents itself that it could
be a danger to the public or a dangerous situation,
first and foremost the residents. And if you can't understand that,
I'm sorry, I can't help you. It's late with Mo
