Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on demand from
KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's Later with Mo Kelly. We're live everywhere, YouTube and
the iHeartRadio app. And it's out. Jimmy Kimmel's monologue, his
return to late night television is now out there for
all to see and hear, and we're going to bring
it to you right now.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Breaking news on Jimmy Kimmel and autism. Jimmy Kimmel coming
back to late night television.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
ABC chose to bring back their low rating night time hosts.
We are in for a monologue that will be a
marker in late night show history. It's going to be
an annoyed yeah, no question, a huge moment in American history.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
It's one of the most pertical moments his broadcast history.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
He will be.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Delivering what is being dug the most anticipateded monologue in.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Late night in years.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Change Yeah from Hollywood.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
It's chewy human.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Mind, Guten bolly and use it.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
The sound of book where Clean and the cleets and
Jimmy Chilly.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Thankful, I.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
M h thank you here anyway, as I was saying
before I was interrupted, if you're just joining us, we
are preempting your regularly scheduled encore episode of Celebrity Family
Feud to bring you this special report. I'm happy to
(02:33):
be here tonight with you.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
That's just thus been saying it. I'm not sure who.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Had a weirder forty eight hours, me or the CEO
of Tyland Hall. It's been overwhelming. I've heard from a
lot of people over the last six days. I've heard
from all the people in the world over the last
six days. Everyone I've ever met.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Has reached out ten or eleven times.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Weird characters from my past are the guy who fired
me from my first radio job in Seattle, where we
are not airing tonight, by the way, Sorry Seattle.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
His name is Larry. In nineteen eighty nine, Larry tried to.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Force me to do a bit called Jokes for Donuts,
where people would call in with a joke and I
would give them donuts. I refused to do it, and
I made a lot of fun of Larry for suggesting it,
and eventually Larry fired me and I had to move
back in with my parents, but even he went in
to cheer me up.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Thank you, Larry, and I want to thank everyone who
checked in.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
I would tak all for all of them, but.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Some that I do especially want.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
To mention and are my fellow late night talked show hosts.
My friend Stephen Colbert, who has found himself in this predicament,
my friend John Stewart, Seth Myers, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver Conan, O'Bryan,
Dan Porten, Ursinio, Kathy, Juana Chelsea, even Jay reached out.
(04:20):
I heard from late night hosts in other countries, from
Ireland and from Germany.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
The guy in Germany offered me a job.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Can you imagine this country has become so authoritarian?
Speaker 5 (04:32):
The Germans are like, come here, who's my boyhood? Idols
Howard Stern and David Letterman.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
Were very.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Plan and I feel honored to be part of.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
A group of people that knows what goes into doing
a show like this. And I also want to thank
all of.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
You old st who supported our show, cared.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Enough to do something about it, to make your voices
heard so that mine could be heard.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
I will never forget it, and maybe maybe most of all,
I want to.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Thank the people who don't support my show and what
I believe, but support my right.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
To share those beliefs anyway or I never would would imagine.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Right, Ben Shapiro, Clay Travis, Candice Owens, Mitch McConnell, Ran Paul,
even my old pal Ted Cruz, who believe it or not,
said something very beautiful on my behalf. I hate what
Jimmy Kimmel said. I am thrilled that he was fired.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Oh the way, No, not that the other part.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
But let me tell you, if the government gets in
the business of saying we can say what you the
media have said, we're going to ban you from the
airwaves if you don't say what we like, that will
end up bad for conservatives.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
I don't think I've ever said this before, but Ted
Cruz is right. He's absolutely right. That's that's all of
us accruding him. I mean, think about it.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
If Ted Cruise can't speak freely, then he can't cast
spells on the Smurfs. Even though I don't agree with
many of those people on most subjects, some of the
things they say even make me want to throw up.
It takes courage for them to speak out against this administration,
and they did, and they deserve credit for it, and
that for telling me the followers that our government cannot
(06:43):
be allowed to control what we do and do not
say on television, and that we have to stand up
to it. I've been hearing a lot about what I
need to say and do tonight, and the truth is,
I don't think what I have to say is going
to make much of a difference.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
If you like me, you like me. If you don't,
you don't. I have no illusions about youging anyone's mind.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
But I do want to make something clear because it's
important to me as a human, and that is you
understand that it was never my intention to make light of.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
The murder of a young man.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
I don't think there's anything funny about it.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I posted a message on Instagram of the daves killed,
sending love to his family and asking for compassion, and
I meant it.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
I still do.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group
for the actions of what it was obviously a deeply
disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point
I was trying to make. But I understand that to
some that felt either ill timed or unclear, or maybe both.
And for those who think I did point a finger,
I get why you're upset. If the situation was reversed
(07:48):
there's a good chance I'd have felt the same way.
I have many friends and family members on the other
side who I love and remain close to, even though
we don't agree on politics at all. I don't think
the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk represents anyone. This was
a sick person who believed violence was a solution and
it isn't it.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Ever, And also selfishly.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
I am.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
I am a person who gets a lot of threats.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
I get many ugly and scary threats against my life,
my wife, my kids, my co workers because of what
I choose to say. And I know those threats don't
come from the kind of people on the right who
I know and love. So that's what I wanted to
say on that subject. But I don't want to make
this about me because and I know this is what
people say when they make things about them.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
But I really don't know this show. This show is
not important. What is important is.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
That we get to live in a country that allows
us to have a show like this.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Yeah, I've had.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
The opportunity to meet and spend time with comedians and
talk show hosts from countries like Russia, countries in the
Middle East who told me they would get thrown in
prison for making fun of those in power, and worse
than being thrown in prison, they know how lucky we
are here. Our freedom to speak is what they admire
most about this country. And that's something I'm embarrassed to
(09:16):
say I took for granted until they pulled my friend
Steven off the air and try to coerce the affiliates
who run our show in the cities.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
That you live in to take my show off the air.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
That's not legal, that's not American, that is un American,
and it is so bad.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
A ONEm thick about that.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Should the government be allowed to regulate which podcasts the
cell phone companies and Wi Fi providers are allowed to
let you download, to make sure they serve the public interest?
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Do you think that sounds crazy?
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Ten years ago this sounded crazy Brandon Carr, the chairman
of the FCC telling an American company, we can do
this the easy way or the hard way, and that
these companies can find ways to change conduct and take
action on Kimmel or there's going to be additional work
for the FCC ahead. In addition to being a direct
(10:11):
violation of the First Amendment, is not a particularly intelligent
threat to make in public. Ted Cruz said he sounded
like a mafioso, although I don't know if you want
to hear a mob boss make a threat like that,
you have to hide a microphone in a deli and
park outside in a van with a tape recorder all
night long.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
This genius said it on a podcast.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Brendan Carr is the most embarrassing car Republicans have embraced
since this one.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
And that's saying it's.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
The FCC has a.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Tradition of meddling where they shouldn't under many administrations. But
it wasn't always like this. There was an FCC commissioner
back in twenty twenty two who worked under Joe Biden
who spot on. He wrote, President Biden is right. Political
satire is one of the oldest and most important forms
of free speech. It challenges those in power while using
(11:10):
humor to draw more people into the discussion. That's why
people in influential positions have always targeted it for censorship.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
You know who wrote that, FCC Commissioner Brendan.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Carr, who later was appointed Chairman of the FCC by
this former crusader for free speech.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
If we don't have free speech, then we just don't
have a free country. It's as simple as that. If
this most fundamental right is allowed to perish, then the
rest of our rights and liberties will topple, just like dominoes.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
One by one, they'll go down.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
That was also in twenty twenty two, and I wonder,
how did that guy turn into this guy?
Speaker 6 (11:53):
Would you like to see replace Kimmel on Late Night?
Speaker 4 (11:55):
A lot of if anybody could replace the guy in
no tality.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Look, he aspired.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
He had no talent.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
He's a whack job, but he had no talent.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
And more importantly than talent, he had because a lot
of people got no talent to get ratings, but he
had no ratings.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
Well, I do tonight, hopefully for the almost you almost
(12:39):
had to feel sorry for him.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
He tried it his best to cancel me. Instead, he
forced millions of people to watch the show that backfired Bigley.
He might have to release the Epstein files to distract
us from this. Now a lot of people have been
asking me there are conditions for my return to the air,
(13:03):
and there is one.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Disney has asked me to read the following statement, and
I agreed to do it. Here we go to reactivate
your Disney Plus and HU will work at.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
Open Up.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Open your Disney Plus app on your Smart TV or
TV connected device.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
I've been fortunate to work at a company that has
allowed me to do the show the way we want
to do it.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
For almost twenty three years, I've done almost four thousand
shows on ABC, and over that time, the people who
run this network have allowed me to evolve and to
stretch the boundaries of what was once traditional for a
late night talk show, even when it made them uncomfortable,
which I do a lot every night. They've defended my
right to poke fun at our leadleader and to advocate
(14:01):
for subjects that I think are important by allowing me
to use their platform, and I am very grateful for that.
With that said, I was not happy when they pulled
me off the air on Race. I did not agree
with that decision, and I told them that and we
had many conversations. I shared my point of view, they
shared theirs. We talked it through, and at the end,
(14:22):
even though they didn't have to, they really didn't have to.
This is a giant company. We have short attention spans,
and I am a tiny part of the Disney corporation.
They welcomed me back on the air, and I thank
them for that.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
That, unfortunately, and I think.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Unjustly, this puts them at risk. The President of the
United States made it very clear he wants to see
me and the hundreds of people who work here fired
from our jobs. Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods
because he can't take a joke. He will.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
Somehow able to squeeze Colbert out of CBS.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Denny turned his sights on me, and now he's openly
rooting for NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers
and the hundreds of Americans who work for their shows
who don't make millions of dollars. And I hope that
if that happens, or if there is even any hint
of that happening, you will be ten times as loud
as you were this week.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
We have to speak out against because he's not stopping.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
And it's not just comedy. He's gunning for our journalists too.
He's suing them, he's bullying them. Over the weekend, his
Foxy friend Pete Hegseth announced a new policy that requires
journalists with Pentagon Press credentials to sign a pledge promising
not to report information that hasn't been explicitly authorized for release,
(15:57):
that includes unclassified in for.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
They want to pick and choose what the news is.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I know that's not as interesting as muzzling a comedian,
but it's so important to have a free press, and
it is nuts that we aren't paying more attention to it.
Welter Cronkite must be spinning in his grave right now.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
He's dead. Right.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Look, I never imagine I would be in a situation
like this. I barely paid attention in school. But one
thing I did learn from Lenny Bruce and George Carlin
and Howard Stern is that a government threat to silence
a comedian the president doesn't like is anti American. That's
anti I'm Joe glad we have some solidarity on that,
(16:50):
from the right and left and from those in the
middle like Joe Rogan. Maybe the silver lining from this
is we found one thing we can agree on, and
maybe we'll find another one, maybe we can get a
little bit closer together. We do agree on a lot
of things. We agree on keeping our children safe from guns,
from reproductive rights from women, social security, affordable healthcare, pediatric
(17:16):
cancer research. These are all things that most Americans support.
Let's stop letting these politicians tell us what they want
and tell them what we want.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
We are all leading now.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
There was a.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Moment over the weekend, a very beautiful moment.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
I don't know if you saw this on Sunday, Erica
Kirk forgave the man who shocked her husband.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
She forgave him. That is an example we should follow.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Yeah, if you believe in the teachings of Jesus as
I do.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
There it was.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
That's it, a selfless act of grace forgiveness from a
grieving widow. It touched me deeply, and I hope that.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
It touches money.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
And if there's anything we should take from this tragedy
to carry forward, I hope it can be that and
not this. So thank you for listening, and Alan Morris
say when we come.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Back, and there you have.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
You're listening to Jimmy Kimble's return to Late Night, and
he offered what I felt was a heart felt addressing
of everything of the past five six days.
Speaker 7 (18:52):
He really threaded the needle. He showed sensitivity and nerve
and stuck up for the First Amendment, and he even
started off his monologue with an homage to Jack Parr.
The old as I was saying before I got disappeared, right,
I mean, you know, that was such an inside baseball remark.
And he tipped his cap to all those who came
(19:13):
before him, those who had shared the stage in the
sense of late night television. And I thought it was sincere,
of course, And he said it best like, Look, if
you liked him this is or didn't like him, none
of this is going to change that. But I did
appreciate how from where I was sitting he addressed everything
(19:34):
from what he did say what he was not trying
to impart.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
He acknowledged the murder of Charlie Kirk. He acknowledged the
widow of Charlie Kirk. He also acknowledged the ongoing fight,
as far as the stations which are preempting him tonight
and as far as what that may mean in the future.
Also against the backdrop of the First Amendment, this is
just actually the end of the beginning, beginning of the end,
(20:00):
because there's going to be more. There's going to be
a response from the President. There already has been. If
you want to hear a little bit, yes, please go ahead.
This is apparently from his social media platform. Trump says,
I can't believe ABC, fake news gave Jimmy Kimmel his
job back. The White House was told by ABC that
his show was canceled. Something has happened between then and
now because his audience is gone in all caps and
(20:21):
his talent in quotes was never there. Why would they
want someone back who does so poorly, who's not funny,
and who puts the network in jeopardy by playing ninety
nine percent positive Democrat garbage in caps. He's yet another
arm of the DNC, and the best of my knowledge,
that would be a major illegal campaign contribution. I think
we're going to test ABC out on this. Let's see
how we do. Last time I went after them, they
(20:42):
gave me sixteen million dollars. That this one sounds even
more lucrative. A true bunch of losers. Let Jimmy Kimmel
rot in his bad ratings. Well, there's a lot to unpack,
and I'm not even going to try, but I will
say this. He was never fired. He was suspended. So
if you go around and say that they gave him
his job back, that is categ correcally untrue.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
But it is the end of the beginning.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
There obviously will be a robust response from the administration.
I don't know whether that will include the FCC or
is it just pronouncements from the President himself, But there
will be more to this. We don't know how long
Next Star and Sinclair will continue to preempt the show.
We don't know contractually how long they would be allowed to,
(21:26):
So this is just getting started. Honestly, Jimmy Kimmel has
now addressed America. This is the biggest story in the
country by a lot, by a lot. And you don't
have to be a fan of Jimmy Kimmel to understand
the magnitude of the moment, So I encourage you to
(21:48):
listen to him in his own words. That's why we
let it run completely. There was no commentary by me,
there were no interruptions. We actually even blew out a
commercial break because we thought this was much more important
given the news and also the discussion of what's going
on in this country with media. I mean, this impacts
me and impacts Mark, impacts everyone in what we do
(22:09):
here as we are part of the broadcast airways as well.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
So if the FCC could.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Come down on Jimmy Kimmel for what he's doing in
a broadcast capacity. The FCC could come down on us,
So we all have a vested interest in how all
this plays out. You're listening to Later with Mo Kelly,
I Am six forty were live everywhere on YouTube and
the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
You're listening to Later with Mo Kelly on demand.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
And monitoring what you're saying in the Momigos motown chat.
I'm listening to you, and I'm also being in the
moment as someone who works in news and talk and
entertainment and trying to combine all these things. There's some
people were saying, Mo, you should not have played that.
I didn't tune into CAFI to listen to Jimmy Kimmel. Well,
(22:57):
we weren't playing Jimmy Kimmel for the sake of playing
Jimmy Kimmel. We're talking about the biggest news story in
the country and it has actually world reverberations. When you
talk about Disney Plus and it's impact worldwide. Jimmy Kimmel
(23:18):
and his show is not about whether you like it
whether I like it. To be honest, I don't even
watch it. I don't even tune into it. But this
moment regarding Jimmy Kimmel and his show is exceptionally important
as far as how we wrestle with disparate ideas, like,
(23:38):
for example, if you go through the CAFI lineup, the
probably people you like, people you don't like. I'm quite
sure I'm some people's favorites. I'm quite sure I'm the
one that people like the least. But part of it
is we all have different voices to lend to these conversations,
and Jimmy Kimmel is part of that larger discussion about
(24:00):
are we only going to have one viewpoint or are
we going to allow disparate viewpoints? Is it going to
be against the law to criticize the administration? Is it
going to be okay for any administration to use the
full weight of the Constitution and in this case the
FCC to somehow siphon off those voices which may be
(24:26):
politically incorrect, those voices which may be distasteful. The humor
we may not find funny, we may not find it
of any value. Are we going to support that or
are we going to go back to the time where
comedians were comedians, satirists were satirists, and people may not
(24:46):
have liked them, but we knew that they had a
place in America. That's the larger conversation, and the context
is Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, Next Star, Sinclair, the FCC tomorrow.
That's all that anyone is going to talk about, as
a matter of fact, starting tonight, when you turn on
the ten o'clock News and eleven o'clock news, turn on
(25:08):
your favorite cable news outlet. Right now, they're talking about
Jimmy Kimmel. I can't even tell because I haven't even
looked at any of the other coverage, but.
Speaker 6 (25:16):
I can assure you.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, NEWSMAX, OA, n they're all talking
about Jimmy Kimmel. And if anything, if you were listening
earlier and you got to hear Jimmy Kimmel in his
own words, you at least are informed enough to have
an educated viewpoint about what he did say, what he
(25:40):
tried to convey, and whether you liked it or not,
that's up to you. I'm not here to sell Jimmy
Kimmel because I'm not watching a show tomorrow night, and
I didn't watch it before he was kicked off the air,
So it matters not to me the future of the show.
It absolutely matters to me the future of Freeze Beach
(26:00):
and entertainment and the news. That intersection absolutely impacts me.
And being someone who works in news talk, I am
not here as a news anchor. That's Mark Ronner's job.
I talk about the news. I talk about what's going on,
and I try to give you my impression of or
(26:21):
my vantage point of what's important or why or what
you may have missed in a certain story. And I'm
telling you, and I'm not going to exaggerate this, this
is a huge moment in news and television and it's
going to be written about and it's going to be
chronicled for decades because we've never seen anything like this.
(26:45):
This is not something that our country has ever experienced.
And as we try to maneuver and navigate through this
tenuous time and partisanship, there's going to be a lot
more bumpy moments. I said earlier that this was the
end of the beginning. It's just getting started. We saw,
I should say, we heard from Mark Ronald the response
from President Trump.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
There will be another response.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
I'm quite sure before the night is through, there'll be
another response Tomorrow you will see the White House Press
Corps ask Caroline Levitt exactly about this. What is going
to happen, What is the FCC going to do, What
is Sinclair going to do? What are other ABC affiliates
going to do? And it's going to have a ripple
effect and reverberations throughout this industry, inclusive of talk radio.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
I'm glad you mentioned this about not really being into
Kimmel one way or the other, because Kimmel is irrelevant.
He just happened to be the flashpoint of a very
serious issue that strikes at the core of our constitution.
In a very very very serious matter. The First Amendment
is one of the pillars of what makes the United
States what it is, and so we would be insane
(27:54):
not to give it the coverage we have. And if
you're wondering about my opinions on it, if you find
a journal who is not in favor of the First
Amendment and feign's neutrality about that, you're looking at a hack.
Speaker 6 (28:08):
I just don't understand how we live in the country.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
We hear about people who are being patriots who love
the Constitution, but somehow skip over the First Amendment in
that love.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
I can't reconcile the two.
Speaker 7 (28:23):
Journalism exists to safeguard the First Amendment and democracy. And
it's going to be fascinating to me because I'm just
a news junkie to see where other journalists come down
on this.
Speaker 8 (28:36):
I got some fears too as an educator, because if
they're going to go after the entertainers on TV, they're
not going to hesitate to go after people like me
who are educators.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
Well that's the thing.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
If you don't support Kimmel because you don't happen to
like him personally or think he's funny personally, or personally
share his politics, well guess what your number might come
up soon if this issue isn't addressed. I mean, you
might like the guy on Fox, Greg Gutfeld.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
What if he's next?
Speaker 7 (29:07):
You'll want somebody to stand up for everybody's right to
say what they want to say and have free expression
in the United States.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
I always say, take the politics out of it, just
look at it from a point of principle. As a
function of principle, are we okay? Are we comfortable with
the idea of any administration using the weight of the government.
In this case, the scc TO determine who can be
on the air or not, who can tell jokes at
(29:37):
the expense of the administration or not. Are we comfortable
with that if we are, look out because the consequences
of that are far reaching and wide ranging, and it's
not something that we'll be able to stop if it
ever gets going.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on demand from
KFI A.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
Later with Mo Kelly.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
We're live every wedding iHeartRadio, app and YouTube and of
course usually at nine o'clock we get to what's up
with Nick? But then there was the breaking news of
Jimmy Kimmel and we played his monologue without interruption.
Speaker 8 (30:15):
That was great, No, and it's so important in integral
right now to exactly what's going on and if you're
in the moment he goes chat. You also saw us
talking about it specifically to not just what Mose said
before the break, of how important it is to media
in general. This is our livelihoods for us, for Mo
for myself, for Mark, for Twala, any of us in media.
This could have easily been us any other time. So
(30:38):
to be able to take it as an entirety, and
I think the most important thing, and I really hope
that folks that tuned in were able to watch on
YouTube or whatever listen to what's said as opposed to
walking in with your preconceived notions or your like or
dislike of Kimmel or Democrats or Republicans, whatever the situation is.
Just listen purely to what is said. And I have
to say that every point was hit very well. It
(31:00):
was very thoughtful. I know that some people will probably
view it as not being genuine. I think it was
incredibly genuine, especially on such a global stage, because this
is not just a domestic stage right now. The world
is watching, so I think it was really really important
to be able to share it here on KFI so
that you can hear it even before it airs here
at Southern California.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
We in the business, we talked about scooping someone. We
scooped every right. It had not even aired here in
Los Angeles, so you had the I would say the
benefit of being able to hear it before anyone else
had indeed, and I think there's something to be said
for hearing it and really focusing on the words as
opposed to looking at the visuals and being distracted by
audience reactions to what have you?
Speaker 8 (31:41):
Absolutely no agree to completely with that, but I do
want to give you a little bit of you know,
I'll this week of a nick or a little bit
of what's up a nick that we usually have on Tuesdays.
It's a big weekend here in Los Angeles. I am
going to bring you non Halloween stuff first, but then
I've got a few more things because I had a
busy weekend. I did an opening night, not its very
farm opening night at Dark Harbor at Queen Mary, went
(32:03):
back to Knotsberry Farm, and then also went and visited
at Magic of the Jack Lanterns in the South Bay.
So I'll kind of tap on all those. But it's
Comic Con weekend here in Los Angeles, so not the
massive one that you're used to in San Diego, but
La Comic Con. And it was funny because as I
was prepping before listening to Kimmel, there's a lot of celebrities,
so like Kristin Ritter, who I think is Jessica Jones
(32:26):
or was Jessica Jones?
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Correct? Thank you?
Speaker 8 (32:29):
Also, I mean you've got the entire lineup. You've got
Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich and Jamie Kennedy from Scream, you
have Charlie Cox from Daredevil. You've got Elizabeth Olsen, who
is obviously well if you don't know what's coming up
on Disney Plus not to plug them, but Zombies Marvel
Zombies is coming out tomorrow, actually to be out tonight
(32:49):
at midnight, so if you're into that, but it's a
huge event going on. And then also there's a huge
celebration going on for Pokemon because Mega Evolution is happening
this weekend. I'm not a huge follower of that, but
if you are familiar by chance with the existing Pokemon
trading card game, Mega Evolution Discovery Experience is happening in
(33:12):
downtown LA. You can still get details about that and
so much more at the link and bio it this
weekend with Nick. I made sure to preload it all
so all the details are there, you don't have to
wait until catch it afterward. And what's great about the
Pokemon event is it's free ninety nine. You know, we
love to keep it that way. Lots of activities happening.
The forty fourth edition of Fascination of Orchids International Festival
Orchids and Exotic Plants that's happening in Orange County at
(33:34):
the Santanna Zoo this weekend. You've also got the other
art fair that's happening in La And then to give
you some free ninety nine things that are coming up
Montana Avenue Art Walk in Santa Monica this weekend Saturday
from eleven to six that will be underway. And then
something if you're looking for a healthy way to get
into the spooky season kind of idea La Fright Club,
(33:55):
which is the original horror fitness brand established back in
twenty twenty one, so not that long ago. They have
meetups and this Sunday, bright and early, way too bright
and early for me, but right early at seven point
thirty you can meet up at the Griffith Park Old
Zoo and they'll be taking you on a tour through
all of the kind of catacombs of the Old Zoo itself.
And yeah, there's a lot, there's actually a lot going
(34:17):
on this weekend. You also have on Saturday the Riverside
Art Music Festival happening that's free ninety nine available to
all ages. And get details at this week of Nick
or Nick Polliochanni on social media. The artwalk and Mentura
is happening both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. And yeah,
that's it, and I've got so much else coming on.
I'll be down at Lego Land this weekend to bring
(34:38):
some brick or treat stuff. If you check out this
weekend Nick or Nick pollio'channe on Instagram, you can see
all these activities that have been able to kind of
check out. I'm kind of slowly but surely pushing out
more and more video teases of exactly what I was
able to experience, and then I've got a whole bunch
more coming up.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Is it like a crescendo as you get closer to
Halloween and your birthday where it ramps up and anticipation
and excitement for you.
Speaker 8 (35:02):
Yes, it definitely is anticipat patient, patient, But yeah, I
would say yes, I'm actually working on possibly going south
of the Border, which I'm very excited about right now.
Six Flags because it is now an owner of Cedar
Fair Parks, which is not Sperry Farm. They're actually taking
a not Sperry Farm in Buena Park is partnering with
(35:23):
six Flags Mexico in Mexico City, and so I'm actually
might be bringing you south of the border fun and
excitement that would be because then you've got did the
worthos and you've got so many other things that are involved.
But yeah, it's definitely reaches a crescendo. The weirdest thing
that we've talked about for weeks on ends now, and
everybody's well aware because Costco had the decorations Target Walmart.
Halloween comes so early, just like literally right around the
(35:47):
same time that you're seeing back to school coming out
of the fourth of July is when everything hits the stores.
So I would say, yeah, it's kind of the crescendo coming,
but you have to think We're still in September and
I've got an entire thirty one days of my bird
month and so much more to bring you, including things
going on down in San Diego, some stuff in Ventura,
and hopefully I'll be taking a trip up to Las
(36:08):
Vegas to bring you some Horror Unleashed from Universal, which
is their new year round install. That'll be at Area fifteen,
which is across the fifteen Freeway from the Las Vegas
trip sound kind of busy. It's kind of busy, but
I love coming here. That is no, no, no, but
it's like it I love coming here and talking about
it with you and talking about it with the momigos
(36:30):
and the chat, just because I really want you to
get out there. It's like the Knight of the Jacks
or sorry, Magic of the Jack Lanterns. Knight of the
Jacks is also fantastic. That's out in Calabasas. But Magic
of the Jack of Landers happening at South Coast Botanic Garden.
That's already underway. That's fun for all ages. It's a
great or after dark event. Yeah, there's just so much,
(36:52):
and especially this year. I mean we've got Blackout, which
is coming to the La Fairplex. Yeah, I got so
much more. We got time for more. Well I'm glad
we got time for more.
Speaker 6 (37:02):
But we're good.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
We can do.
Speaker 6 (37:04):
This is good for tonight. I kind of just threw
it all out there, like let it fall on the table.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
I try to remind people this is live radio, indeed,
and the world happens in real time. And the Jimmy
Kimmel story is huge. And I know there's some of
the mo miagles chaps, why are you playing this guy?
I don't want to hear him.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
I get that for sure, But we deal with the news.
Speaker 8 (37:28):
Which is in front of us, which is correct. And
that's why you tune into KFI, because we bring you
the breaking news. We bring you what is important to everyone.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
And here's a prediction, and I know I'm one hundred
percent right, there will not be a show tomorrow here
on KFI that will not spend an inordinate amount of
time talking about Jimmy Kimmel from wake Up Call to
Bill Handle, to Gary and Shannon to John And I
was gonna say, Johnny Cannon, John Coleblt to Tim Conways Junior.
(37:57):
You've heard the promost. Everyone is going to be talking
about it. I have a responsibility to do this, indeed.
And on that note, we'll see you tomorrow and then
you can tell me I'm right, because everyone's going to
talk about this, not only the rest of tonight, but
tomorrow and the rest of the week. It's later with
Mo Kelly k IF I am six forty five everywhere
the iHeartRadio app as
Speaker 1 (38:18):
I and KOST HD two Los Angeles, Orange County more
stimulating talk
