Speaker 3 (00:34):
You know where Corinthian leather comes from?
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Corinthia.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
No, a marketing office. I don't think that anything exists.
They came up with that for Ricardo Montabon smiles as
everybody smiles. Yeah, it's a commercial for There's no such thing,
no such Did you just fact check me?
Speaker 5 (00:56):
I did?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Wow, six five it's my job. No, I respect that.
I respect that.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
It was more of curiosity. I was like, wait, is
there a Caribbean level?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
No, okay, it's a marketing I think that's the same
as Redsin shirts now with retsin.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Didn't they make that up too? Do you remember the
shirts commercial? R? E. T.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
S O. N.

I think KFI ABE six forty The Bill Handle show
Neil Savadra and a slightly modified morning crew. This morning,
Heather Brooker is with us and Matt Matt the top.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Toffler, it's running around killing it.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's like always that guy's he's like, uh, he's like
a gun with a silencer.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
You know what I'm saying. All powerful but quiet.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
He's a silent but dead Well, no, that's something different different.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I'm still in the holiday mood.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah, Screwcoast.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
They went, they finished yesterday, turning it on this morning
and it was it was before you got on and
it was like Kelly Clarkson singing something that wasn't Christmas,
and I said no. And then I walk into the
studios here in beautiful Burbank, California, and the uh, I'll
(02:20):
take Christmas tree is gorgeous, still lit up. There's the
Christmas lights strewn across the studio.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
I feel like Christmas last, at least until after New.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Year's right, Like we get a our lights are still blazing,
and I keep them twenty four hours during this time,
like Christmas Eve, until until New.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Year can take them down New Year's Day or the weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
After, usually the weekend after.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
That's what we do too. We just wait until the
weekend after.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Well a lot of a lot you know.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
There's a joke about Latinos keeping their Christmas lights up
year round. Yeah, but the reality is a lot of
Latinos are Catholic and there's a lot of feasts and
festivals and things like that that go through to the
beginning of January.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
No King, not no, not No Kings.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah no, that's something different. Let me know what you're
doing on the weekend.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
I am not awake, ye, not the No Kings, but yeah,
King's three Kings.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
That famous Catholic No Kings. But I'm still in the
mood obviously. You know Codo is he came in in
his gay apparel again today.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Oh wow, Yeah, looks good on you, Bud. Don't worry, Neil,
welcome back.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Hey, Pally, it's been a long time, has it has
You've been gone for a very long time. You know
what's weird is I'm in this whole week for handle,
happy to do it. But he and I have not
crossed paths. We've texted and talked. But uh, and so
he comes. I changed my schedule for his schedule this year.
I had put in my time car or my vacation
(03:54):
and they're like, hey, you know, we don't know when
handles it. And I'm like, listen, I'm not that guy.
Take care of everybody. I'll just fill in the gaps.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
And it's been nice. So I'm doing this and then
next week come out look at that. Yeah, so there
won't be a handle and Neil. For a long time.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
I've heard some of the upset tuckbecks too, sorry, gang.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Sorry. They might be for me.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, please come back, please please come back.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
But I'm happy to be here.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
We got a great program for you today, a lot
of stuff to get into. But I am still in
the holiday mood. I'm not sorry for that.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Don't be sorry. It's such a magical time.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Well, I asked Cono.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I come in and knowing you know, Will, when he's
not sighing, is a great guy.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
And yeah, yeah, but you know, and Heather Brooker is.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Always into the spirit of things, and and Will, I
don't know if he's happy or you know, he's going
to kill us all. He's that kind of quiet you
just don't know. Seems like a great kid though me.
Yeah you no, oh, I.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Said, Matthew, Will's great guy. I met Matton.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
I was like, Will does seem like I was agreement.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Wow. I was like yeah, until he said kid. Then
I was like, eh, nah, you're still a kid.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
And uh so I came in and I said, hey,
let's do some Christmas music and you know, Cono said no,
and I looked at him and he said, it's your show.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
But I'm like, listen, finish, finish this, anyone, finish this.
This statement, Jesus is the reason for the season. Yeah,
Jesus is the reason for the day. No, the season.
Co No, we're in the season. Buddy, Coast says it's over.
(05:47):
You know why Coast is the in the coast. Coast
can't handle it. Yeah, okay, okay, they got the liar
on in the evenings.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Now, okay, that should tell you.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I am a little surprised that they would stop, because
that is like their big money maker of it.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
They stopped saying now this is the you know, through
the weekend. But to me, I'm still listening to Christmas music.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Oh show.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
My living room feels so cozy with my tree up,
and I got my fireplace all decorated, and I'm just
not ready to let it go yet.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
January is so blah.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
It was forty five degrees outside. Do you imagine the
poor little baby Jesus shivering.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
In a manger. Yeah, no room at the end.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Wasn't a cow sitting there on top of him? Or
something like, no, oh my.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
He's cow.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Oh my pig.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Wasn't around allow laying on the baby?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Wasn't he around all those things? You know, up until
right now.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
The worst theology I've ever heard is on the Gary
and Shannon Show. Seriously, sometimes they'll go, you know, and
Shannon will go, wait, what was Jesus's brother's name?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
And it was, uh, actually, I don't.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Want to get into all right, Okay, that's going to
get up, you know, But and they'll go down some
rabbit hole and I'm like, no, no, no, But now
you beat it.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
You beat it, Steve Kno, let's do this.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Handleman on the news lead story.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
You want to hear this or you want to hear
ba la la la la. As you heard during wake
Up Call with the Heather Brooker this morning, Trump and
Zelenski met. They are bringing out the big clothed steamer
(07:52):
to iron out all the peace plans, but.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
It still is slightly elusive.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Here You've got I'm hosting President of Vladimir Zelenski. There
weren't they at at his palace mar Lago, Ma Lago,
and they got together. They talked about things.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Really.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
One of the things that Zelensky wants the most is
kind of that you're going to watch our back, right,
You're gonna watch our back for a while. You Europe,
You're gonna You're gonna bring the guns if they start
picking on us. And that seems to be part of it.
I've heard numbers as high as about ninety percent of
what's wanted is agreed upon at this point. But you
(08:39):
also have Trump saying, hey, it's possible, it doesn't happen.
In a few weeks, will know one way or the other.
So we will continue to watch for that fingers crossed.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Yeah, we'll see. Do you want to go on or
do you want to go to break?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
I want to I'd like to hear your voice.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
All right, then, well, this is a really sad story
here in out a New Jurorsey. It was two helicopters
that crashed into each other mid air. One person was killed,
the other person was taken to the hospital, and it
was just the pilots that were on board each aircraft.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
And of course the NTSB is investigating.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
And they have no idea why this happened, No idea.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
It happened in the middle of the morning, around eleven
thirty in the morning.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
So I assume it was daylight.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Doesn't say anything about any unusual weather conditions or anything
like that. But it happened in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
A guy named Dan thirty four years old, leaving the
gym hill Jim Rap and he heard this snap. He said,
it sounded like a car accident kind of and he
looked up and he might have gotten some video of it.
But like the helicopter twisting upside down and all kinds
of craziness. But what a site and what a strange situation.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, no idea though, what caused it or why that
would happen. That's very unusual for two helicopters to crash
mid air like that.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
All right.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
YouTuber Nick Shirley has uh well, he's responding to I
guess this fraud probe. I had to look this up.
I've never heard of Nick Shirley. I guess either he's
a MAGA friendly YouTuber.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
What does that mean?
Speaker 5 (10:19):
I don't know, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I mean, I guess he promotes maybe mega conspiracy theories
or talk has MAGA talking points but isn't.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
That just maga. I know, maga friendly.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
You're just well, maybe he's just yeah, he likes the MAGA.
But I had to look him up. I don't know
who that. I've never heard of Nick Shirley, but apparently
he there's a he. During Christmas Week he posted a
video from Minnesota alleging massive fraud and government funded childcare programs,
and then he got a response from the FBI and
(10:52):
JD Vance And.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I don't know what they say. I just don't good job, buddy,
were on it.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
I know, right, I'm like, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
If it's a MAGA and he's promoting meracy theories, I
don't think we should be talking about him.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
But that's my opinion.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
What if he like if it's just because he's mago
or because you think it's a conspiracy.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Well, I think if he is someone who is known
to be promoting conspiracy theories, and.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Maybe he's like a squirrel, every squirrel gets their nut
every now and again, or a broken clock is right
twice a day, or whatever some things like that. But also,
no one's ever said he's promoted conspiracy theories, just so
that's out there.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Wait, do you listen to him. Do you know, Nick Shirley? No,
but I know this video that has one hundred million
views has one hundred million views.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yes see.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Here's here's my thing with the with the whole. I
can't stand the left and right, can't stand it at all.
I hate a two party system. The assumption is if
one is right and one is wrong is asinine and
completely illogical. So to me, the assumption like I believe
that if the devil looked me right in the face
and said two plus two equals four, I'd agree with him.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
I don't understand it because it does.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Yeah, that's my point.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
So I like to just go, well, can we look
at the reason behind it and see if it's reasonable.
I don't care if somebody you know has nine conspiracy
theories and one truth. I still want to use my
brain and go through them and sift through them and go,
(12:28):
is this reasonable or not? As you should as well,
we just discount, We discount. You know, I'm a test
all things. Hold fast to that which is true. Guy,
that's my here's my question for you. And this was
something I thought was interesting. They called him.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
He's one of several young independent journalists that are turning
heads among conservatives and Trump administration officials.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
There has been a huge.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Increase in the number of independent journals citizen journalists if
you will, over the past few years. That's people going
on social media TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, whatever, whatever, their choices
to regurgitate the news of the day as they see
it and as the facts that they know it as
people who are actually in, you know, the news business.
(13:20):
For me, I always always take everything they say with
a grain of salt because you don't know where they're
getting their information from, and it is also through their
filter of their opinions in a lot of these cases.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
No, I agree, But you know that's why.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I'm not a big fan of zero tolerance type stuff
like in schools.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
You remember when they did that.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Zero black and white, like you're either this or not this.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, because in schools, like a kid would bring a
butter knife and be called a weapon or aspirin and
say they brought drugs to school. I think that when
you get to that point, you get to a point
where you don't want to think. I just want it
to be spelled out. I don't want to think or yeah,
So to me, looking at these things and because what
(14:10):
you just said about citizen journalism is what I think
about network news. I don't find it to be any different.
Huh did you study journalism yourself?
Speaker 5 (14:21):
I did.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Yeah, I have a degree in journalism and theater. Well
now see double major.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
So wait a second. Theater is make believe and basically lying.
It's it's and you do the news.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
So storytelling. It's all related.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
So you don't think that your insights ever pierce the news.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I mean, I try really hard not to ever let
that happen, because I remember very clearly in journalism school
being drilled by our professors who were like, it is
not your job to comment on the news of the day.
Job is to give the facts and as you know
them in that moment. And I have tried very very
(15:06):
hard my entire career to be that person to not
let any personal opinions or outside influences. It's why I
don't post stuff like that on social media. You won't
see me commenting on the news of the day in
that way because it's not my job to do that,
and I feel like it lessens my my gravitas or
(15:26):
if you will, as a journalist or my as a
reporter or journalist for people to know my own personal opinions,
which are irrelevant. My own personal opinions when I'm give
you the news are irrelevant.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Okay, where in this story does it say conspiracy theorists.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
I may have added that, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
I'm sorry, I'm busting your chop because the reality is
what I just pointed out, that should. Yeah, that's the reality,
and you should, and we will be looking into this story.
Here's here's something that I've said many times. People don't
talk about politics. Everybody thinks they do.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
They don't.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
They talk about politicians. Yeah, and that's not politics. Politics
is a philosophy and a structure by a governor, a government,
and so we don't talk about that anymore. We talk
about the people. And your first your first year in logic,
you're going to learn about informological fallacies. You're going to
learn about appeal at hominem, appealing to the individual rather
(16:30):
than the topic at hand. So to me, I don't
care who says this. I want to know what the
story's about. Yeah, but we do something else, another informological
fallacy called poisoning the well. So we call them a
conspiracy theorist and we don't know the story, whether it's
real or not.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Yeah, and that's what I care about. Care about the story.
So that's it.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
But that's why though, But that's why iron sharpens iron.
As journalists, as people who are in the news business,
we have to hold each other accountable. If I misspeed
that I want someone to tell me so I can
correct it, you know, like I'm very I'm that's something
I think that too many people, when you get higher
up in the ranks of like network news and whatever,
you think that what you say is the only accurate information.
(17:15):
Well that may not always be the case. Like that's
why here in the news, like Carla the editor will
message me. She will not hesitate to message me. Oh,
Carla's great if I mess something up or misspeak and
let me know so I can correct it.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
And that does that to hartness as well.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
She'll say, hey, by the way, we just got new information,
and I will tell you, uh, you know, people that
know how to use the talk back if I am
corrected factually ever on talkbacks or emails or anything. I
take that yeah part, And I have been people have
said maybe, you know, especially if they're kind, but if
(17:49):
they're not and it's true.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
It's still true. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
I think where you get in trouble is when you
start saying what I Everything I know is accurate, and
I'm the only one who has this information.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
And that's are you get in trouble?
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Were you?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Were you?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Neil Svader in the Morning crew with you handles got
the week off. I'm happy to be here with the
Heather Brooker doing the news. This was handed to me
by producer Matthew that Walls defends his record this viral
video that we were just talking about going on in
Minnesota dealing with the daycare fraud claims. It's interesting that
(18:26):
they are kind of looking towards he keeps talking about
his record on cracking down on fraud.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
But nothing.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
You know, they even hired an outside firm to audit
payments in these high risk programs, but not really not
really any definitive you know, not taking place.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
We didn't do it. Nothing.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
It's more like, hey, we it's right up there with
your safety and security is paramount to us. So we
shall see how that plays out. Back to the news
as we shall go. So the five Freeway near Lake
Hughes Road shut down both directions for hours. It eventually
(19:08):
reopened the whole thing. There in Santa Clarita and San
Fernando Valley, people were reporting smelling this horrible odor, and
residents there and Stick were asked to shelter in place
following a gas leak and possible explosion. This all took
place on Saturday. Gas scares me. I'm a diy guy.
(19:32):
I get my hands dirty and everything. I'll do some
electrical work, I'll do plumbing, you know. I get my
hands in and give it a try.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I like to learn.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Gas is one of those things that you're not gonna
mess with. I have, you know, the tools for it,
and I have gas detection handheld gas detection tools and
all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
It just I don't know, Well, it's unpretty and it's
like requires a certain set of like training and skills,
you know, and what it's plumbing. It's plumbing, but it's
still just very dangerous if you are messing with any
sort of gas line.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
When I would when I used to compete in the
martial arts, I always said that it was chess with
big consequences. Yeah, But to me, it's plumbing with like
horrible consequences because.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
It's like you know, Ah, I flooded.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
The floor is one thing, but it's worse when you
know the house explodes.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
I blew up house.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
That seems bad.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
That does seem bad. You're right, all right.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
So Nancy Pelosi is predicting that the Democrats are going
to win big in twenty twenty six. She sat down
for an interview with Jonathan carl and ABC's News This
ABC News Is this Week. She also said that she
feels like Hakem. Jeffries is ready to be her successor
and if they the Democrats win back the House. So
(20:59):
right now, Mcrats have to flip three seats to retake
a majority in the lower chamber.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
I don't know much about him, but I did like
what she said. She said, he's eloquent, he's respected by
other members, he's a unifier, and God knows, we can
use all of those things in a human being right now,
so we shall see. I don't think she's far off,
quite honestly. I think there's a huge possibility of that.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Yeah, I mean I talked to Steve Roberts today from ABC,
and he said that historically presidents have a hard time.
You know, whoever the majority is in power, have a
hard time holding on to their seats during the midterm because.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Oh yeah, Handle and I have talked about that many times.
It's pretty typically.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Okay, well, I'm sure you and Handel had had better information.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
No, I'm saying that we had talked about that many times.
That it's it's historically, it's got kind of what happens. Yeah,
it just happens, especially when you've got an incredibly divisive president,
as we do in Trump. Yes, all right, So California
last week dropped a lawsuit. This is one of the
mini Governor gav New some lawsuits. Well, you put like
(22:11):
twenty five million dollars aside before Trump went into office, saying,
you know, we got to be ready for him. Well,
this all deals with the four billion dollars for the
state's long delayed high speed rail project. This is another
thing that it gets caught up because it's seen as
a democratic thing. It's got to be protected against the mean,
(22:34):
ugly orange man in office. But the reality is it's
an absolute boondoggle. It's it is just a money suck
with no benefits to it. Jerry Brown I agreed with
him early on, saying, listen, sometimes when you change massive things.
(22:54):
It's going to take a long time, but decades down
the line, the benefit will show itself.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
And it just hasn't.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
It's just more money. So they quickly filed the lawsuit.
They being Democratic Governor gab Newsom called the federal government's
decision a political stunt to punish California, but he has
since pulled But I love how you pull the lawsuit
because it's a lame lawsuit. Instead of saying that, he
(23:23):
basically went into it saying, you know, it's the government
is not reliable, constructive, or trustworthy as a partner. So
we're just we don't want them to be a part
of it. I didn't break up. Oh you didn't break
up with me. I broke up with you. And then
Trump said, hey, it's this project severely overpriced, overregulated, and
(23:46):
never delivered, which again he's right, doesn't matter that he's
a horrible human being, he's right on that.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
It's been in how long now that they've been working
on this to two decades?
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Well, I have walked from Las Vegas to San Francisco
eight times since they started on foot, so yeah, I
didn't even need it. Yeah, I made it back and
forth speaking to Las Vegas.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Let's go all.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Right, the busiest week of the year wasn't enough to
save airport passenger numbers in Las Vegas. They are really
really struggling there with tourism. According to the airport's November data,
traffic at Las Vegas Airport was down nine point six
percent year over year, falling to four point three million passengers.
(24:42):
That's the worst month. That's worse month than October, which
on eight percent decline. So they're really hurting out there.
People just are not visiting Las Vegas anymore.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Well, I just like to say to the naysayers who
are like, I'm not going to Las Vegas, good luck
finding a thirty five dollar peanut butter and jelly.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Sandwich where you live. Wait that came that sound.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
I thought you're gonna say, thirty five dollars hotel room.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
No, no, no, there's some gorgeous places out there.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
There aren't, but sometimes their rooms are, and they're.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Really really cheap. Encore is stunning, Blaggio, the Veniche.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
I mean, there's gorgeous places out there that are worth
every cent. When I went to when I gosh, like
two years ago, I was there once a month broadcasting
the Fork report live and it was stunning. I mean
spot Disneyland, spotless, Yeah, everywhere you looked. And I like
(25:43):
that type of thing. If you're gonna pay money, I'm
a value guy. I like value, not cheap. So am
I getting my money's worth it? I feel like. But yeah,
it's it's gotten really expensive. It smells like pot everywhere.
People are smoking pot walking up and down the street.
And it's not what it used to be. I like
(26:03):
the area. It's a world class food destination. All those things.
Got the Punk Rock Museum out there, which is great. Yeah,
all kinds of cool things, the Mob Museum, but it's spancy.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Its too pricey.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Oh it's so spancy.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
There it is. There's that happening.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Oh yeah, a stupid all right, back with a year
in review, we'll go through it. Heather Broker will join
me throughout as we talk about news and entertainment and
the things that you may or may not have forgotten
that happened during the last almost twelve months. So go nowhere.
