Speaker 1 (00:15):
Bill Handle Here, Good morning everybody. Thursday, last day of July.
Oh and we still tomorrow. It's Ask Handle anything. We
do that on Fridays. So if you have a personal
question to ask of me, because people yesterday, I was
having lunch someplace and one of these sandwich shops and
I was sitting down talking to some guy and he

(00:36):
was a big KFI fan, didn't know who I was,
and he just at some point I asked him about
KFI and he was listening to KFI all the time,
and he said, I go, who do you listen to?
He goes, well, I listen to, you know, talk radio KFI.
I listened to John, I listened to Conway, and I
listened to Handle and I think Handle's great. And I said, yeah,

(00:57):
I'm a huge fan of Handle too. I love the guy.
And he started asking me personal questions and then halfway.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Through it, he goes, wait a minute, you sound like
Bill Handle.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
And I said yeah, a lot of people have told
me that that I sound just like Bill Handle. And
it was at the end of the conversation. I said, oh,
by the way, I'm Bill, and I walked out, okay,
asked Handles and started yes, and he goes, no, wait,
you are Bill Handle. Yeah, So anyway, ask Handle anything.

(01:28):
If you have a question during the course of the show,
you go on to the iHeartRadio app click on the
Bill Handle show microphone in the upper right hand corner,
click on that and recorded question and Neil goes ahead
and we throw it out tomorrow and I answered, it's
just great fun, all right. Now, yesterday we got the
announcement finally, Kamala Harris is not running for governor of California.

(01:52):
That's just another way of saying she is running for
president in twenty eight and here's her problem. Uh, and
that is at this point, well, let me throw some
reasons why she's not running for governor. If she runs
and loses, she has done. There will never be another office.

(02:12):
The only person who's ever been been pulled has been
able to pull it off, and that is run for presidency, lose,
run for governor, and lose two years later and become
president six years later was Richard Nixon. It's never been
done before. It'll never be done again. So here's Kamala
Harris and her her insiders to say, you can't do it,

(02:36):
you can'toot, you can't risk losing. Okay, So now she's
going to run for president and she has extraordinarily name recognition, there's.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
No question about it.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But I love the idea of what is going to
happen because the race for president is deep, it is
a lot of governors are running, Jay Print is running,
Shapiro is running.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
These are national figures now.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
And what I said earlier what ends up happening, and
this is where Donald Trump won the primary and should
have won the primary, is primaries are baptisms and fire.
They take months. You get to know everything about the candidate,
and the cream rises to the top in terms of electability.

(03:28):
And it didn't happen this time around with.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Kamala Harris.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
She just fell into it because Biden dropped out, and
she's being attacked by oh, strangely enough, people that are
running for governor like Via ra Gosa saying she covered
it up that Biden. She covered up that Biden had
all kinds of mental problems and had no business running.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
My question is, what was she supposed to do?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
She's running as a candidate for vice president for Joe Biden.
And she is supposed to stand up and say, you know,
my boss, Joe Biden has some real mental issues, has
some real cognitive disabilities.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
What is she supposed to do?

Speaker 1 (04:12):
So what she did is when it hadn't followed, excuse me,
she went ahead and followed the line that was drawn
and did exactly what she was supposed to do. The
villain here is Joe Biden. Joe Biden ruined it and
didn't didn't bail out, and he should have. And he
said when he ran that he was a transitional president,

(04:34):
that he was there and he was going to pass
the torch. And then he turned around and said, no,
just the hubris that all of these guys have. Just
the utter hubris is I'm the best choice for the country.
Only I can run this country. There was an interview
yesterday when one of oh, no, it was Ram Emmanuel

(04:55):
was being interviewed and he former chief of staff for Obama,
mayor of Chicago, very very bright man, and he was
asked about Kamala Harris and whether she's going to run
or not, and he said, of course, she's going to
run for president. Now, once you've decided to run for
president and you've gotten anywhere near it, and she actually

(05:18):
was a nominee. Once you get the once you get
presidential fever, the only way that you get out of
it is formaldehyde. You have to be dead. That's what
stops the fever. Other than that, it never lets go.
So Kamala Harris is she going to run?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
You bet? And right now she is going.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Around the country starting to and she's writing a book
and it's going to do lectures, doing all the stuff
you have to do to establish national presidence like Gavin
Newson and is doing. But Newsom is termed out next year,
so it's sort of a given.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
We'll see what happens with her.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
See, I think, in a genuine race, and that is
a genuine primary race, I don't think she's going to
do very well.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I'm not impressed with her.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
There are tons of people that are far more impressive,
and I think have far better credentials and, if not credentials,
far better abilities an electability.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
So she said no, but she meant yes.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
You say no, but you mean yes, because in the
world of politics, no means yes.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Are you running?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
No? I'm not okay, you're actually running. No, I'm not well.
That means you are all right. Now, a little word
about the tariffs. When Donald Trump started talking about the tariffs,
it became very apparent that this man, one guy, even
as president, has the ability to undo the entire world economy.

(07:04):
I mean, it is astounding what he's been able to
pull off. And of course it has to do with tariffs.
And he's getting his way whether he likes it or not,
so whether we like it or not. So let's dive
into what's actually happening and economists and they're looking at
it and the way they're viewing it. We start with tariffs,

(07:27):
and that means we simply pay more for goods coming in.
The whole point of tariffs is to make American goods
more competitive to American shoppers if you bring in. If
we buy stuff that comes in from China and all
of a sudden it costs twice as much, well, American
producers are much more competitive and we're not going to

(07:48):
buy things from We're not gonna buy products from China
if it's more expensive. Now, the President says China will
pay the tariffs. That's absolutely not true. We pay the tariffs.
Matter of fact, I just got to I had to
pay a tariff. I just bought a piece of art
from Ireland to put in the house, and I got
a tariff bill right there, and it was ten percent

(08:12):
of the costs of the piece of artwork. In other words,
it really was a ten percent penalty. Now, if that
same piece of artot was the same price and I
had to pay ten percent more, which way am I
going to go? If that same piece of art as American, Well,
of course I'm gonna buy American products. So there's only

(08:33):
a couple of ways that this is paid for several ways.
Either the manufacturing China pays the tariff, or the distributor
that brings it over from America or to America pays
the tariff, or we individually pay the tariff. By the way,
that means that those products are more money. And the

(08:55):
only way to deal with it is either the manufacturer
is able to pass on to that has to push
on to the tariff because someone bringing in has to pay,
and that means the products are going to be more expensive.
There's no other way around it. Now, the politics of it,
you know, is it good, is it bad? Does it

(09:16):
help our economy? Does it make our products more competitive?
That's something you can go all over the place on.
And there are a lot of economics are economists are saying,
you know what, this is going to hurt us. Prices
are going to go up, It is going to slow
economic growth, and in fact, it looks like it has

(09:36):
started to happen. Yet at the same time, our confidence
is through the roof. The stock market is at record
highs while the economy is slowing down. How is that possible?
I got one word for you at Trump that is

(09:57):
just incredible that he's been able to do. Now, we'll
see what happens short term, we'll see what happened. We
really haven't felt the terriffts yet because most of the
buying season, most of the retail buying happens around the
holiday season, and prices are simply going to be greater.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
If Walmart sucks up some of it, if the distributors
suck up some of it, if the prices go up
marginally because everybody is taking the hit, well, then what
President Trump.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Is aiming to do is going to work out At
this point.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
I don't know, but here and this is my personal deal,
and this is one of those Why aren't the Republicans
in Congress saying anything, He just hit Brazil with a
fifty percent tariff Brazil. We have a surplus with Brazil.
We sell more to Brazil than they sell to us.

(10:51):
There's no reason to tariff them at all because the
balance of trade works in our favor.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
When it comes to Brazil.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Why did he hit Brazil with a fifty percent tariff
on all goods coming in from Brazil? Because Bolsonario, the
former president of Brazil, is being tried for corruption, is
probably going to go to prison, and is one of
the staunchest advocates of Donald Trump, of any world leader,

(11:20):
of any leader of any country on the planet. And
he says he just he follows the line, it's a
witch hunt. They went after me. The election was stolen,
and so what is the president doing. The President is
saying the Bolsonario election was stolen in another country. It's

(11:41):
a witch hunt. They're going after this guy. They stole
the election from him. It's as if he were running
in Brazil. It's strictly personal, that's it. It's strictly personal.
It has nothing to do with economics. It's getting it
another countries. Sovereign ability to govern. It's straight out it

(12:04):
says to those people, I will tell you that.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Election was stolen. This is a witch hunt against Wilson Arrow.
And I'm gonna punish you.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Why why And it's obvious why wouldn't Republican members of
Congress say, hey, that is screwed.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
If you want to.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Do tariffs regarding the economy and how you feel the
economy and how unfair it is the balance of trade
and moving moving money into the United States and building factories,
I can see that. But I'm gonna screw Brazil because
that was a witch hunt. That election was a witch hunt.

(12:42):
That election was stolen in Brazil. Come on, guys, does
it at some point don't you say?

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Really? Oh? That part drives me nuts, it really is. Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I want to talk a little bit about this earth
quay that hit. It was one of the largest earthquakes
ever recorded, eight point eight on the Richter scale. My
good God. But it was off the coast of Russia
and there was nobody there. It was a Kumchatka islands
up there, and I think the illusions and no one

(13:18):
paid attention to it.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Except the people that were there.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
And even then there wasn't a lot of damage because
there's nobody there. There's one video I don't know if
you saw that. There was a cancer operation being done
and you have the surgeons and you have the nurses
holding on to the patient to keep from rolling off
the table. They're grabbing on for dear life.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Absolutely insane to watch that video. It was just hilarious.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
But here's the well, I'm patient was fine, thank goodness.
But here is the real issue. It wasn't the earthquake.
It was the tsunami. That's the problem. Because this earthquake
was outside, it was in the ocean, and those tsunamis
and there was a tsunami warning and no.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
One really knows.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
They can't tell until the waves starts moving, the tsunami
wave starts moving. And here's what happened with this one.
It went right between the Aleutian Islands and the Hawaiian Islands.
It went right down the middle, not hitting any land.
And by the time it did hit Oregon, Washington, it

(14:29):
was like two feet three feet of a tsunami because
it missed everything. It was like a bullet shot through
those islands. You talk about luck Now, had it hit
the island directly, Well, then you're gonna get a good
tsunami wave. But the way it works with tsunamis, and

(14:49):
I didn't know this. It has to do with not
only the intensity of the earthquake, but more importantly which
direction that tsunami. I thought tsunamis just went out. It
was like you throw a rock into the middle of
a lake and the ripples just go out three hundred
and sixty degrees. That's not the way it works, obviously

(15:12):
or apparently, so it went in absolutely the right direction. Effectively,
this was the best of all scenarios. Now, when you
went to Indonesia a bunch of years ago two hundred
and fifty Fouquet, two hundred and fifty thousand people died
with that tsunami that hit, I mean that was crazy.
And the earthquake that caused it was less less magnitude

(15:36):
than this one was. So we get tsunami warnings all
the time and nothing happens. And did you notice also
the videos of all those ships when the tsunami warning came,
And there was plenty of warning because tsunamis run at
about five hundred miles per hour, so to go three
thousand miles is what fifteen hours to go. Well, can

(15:56):
you imagine from the Kamchatka Islands the coast of la
what is that must be what four thousand and five
thousand miles, So it's going to take a while at
five hundred miles an hour, So all the ships go
out to sea, and even the strongest tsunami that's out there,
if you're out to sea, you don't even see it.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
That's about it.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
You know, the foot the waves go up, It's about
a foot that goes up. And depending on how the
earth topography lays out, if you have the proper topography,
because as it rushes into land, depending on the inclination,
depending on how many degrees that you have the ocean

(16:42):
bed going up, that has a lot to do with it. Also,
how close the shallow water is allowing the tsunami to
really build up.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I mean, all of that has a lot to do
with this.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
We lucked out the earthquake experts and what do they
call the people that are experts in tsunami tsunamias. Yeah,
it's the study of tsunamis, tsunami adia, tsunamiosity. Yeah. With that, okay, okay,
fair enough. They all said the humanists that soon. Okay,

(17:22):
never mind, I will get there at some point. In
any case, the bottom line is we dodged a bullet
big time, all right. Now, moving over to what's going
on in North Korea. One of the things about North Korea,
we don't recognize North Korea. It's not a country that

(17:45):
is on the earth as far as we're concerned. We
do do not have diplomatic relations with North Korea. South
Korea doesn't have diplomatic relations. Now, a lot of countries do.
So when we want to talk to them, we do
it through the Swiss embassy, which happens all the time.
And so we pay attention to what's going on because
a lot of North Korea and what it does is

(18:06):
actually targeted towards us. So if you remember President Trump
in his first terms want to restart talks with Kim
Jong un, and they met twice, remember that, with a
handshake and jumping over the line and entering, and Trump
goes into North Korea for three feet and nothing happened
as a result of that, unfortunately, other than sitting down

(18:27):
and talking, which I thought was a good idea.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
So now let's do round two.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Well, no, and you know, who's saying no, Kim Yo jong,
the younger sister of Kim Jong un, his younger sister, and.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
There are five of them.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
So why is she all of a sudden at the forefront. Well,
if you look at what's going on, her brother has
decided he's not going to go into politics. Her other
brother was the crazy guy who was a fan of
Disney and was a playboy that went all around the world,

(19:11):
and he was assassinated if you remember, at the airport
in Malaysia. Great story, and the general consensus is he
was assassinated by Kim Jong un. So what's left on
who's left is his sister, his younger sister, his only sister,
and one of five kids born to Kim Jong il,

(19:34):
the father who ruled North Korea from nineteen ninety four
to twenty eleven.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Before that, it was the father, his father. And here
is the fun part. I love this.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
How do we know she is so powerful and has
such a strong position.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Well, she is the.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Vice director of the Propaganda and an Agitation department at
the Korean Workers Party, the only labor party allowed.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
I kind of like that.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
I wish we had a cabinet position of propaganda and
Agitation Department.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Wouldn't that be neat have a secretary that does that.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
In any case, she is getting more and more powerful
and we have to really pay attention to this. Kim
Jong un, Kim Yo jong has really been spotted with
her brother during all the important public events showcasing nuclear weapons,
international trips. She was part of the North Korean delegation

(20:40):
to the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
That was a good one.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
We thought maybe there's going to be a lot more
intercourse between North and South Korea, and it didn't work
out that way.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
And during oh god, I love this.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
During the presidential run, our presidential run, she called President
Biden an old man with no future, and she talked
about former South Korean president as a hungry dog barking
with the joy of getting a bone. You know, I
love it when world leaders do this. One of the

(21:14):
things is this is entertainment with a capital e, none
of this political speak.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
What do you think, mister president?

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Well, I believe we have some real issues here regarding
insert name of policy here, and I disagree, and they're no, no,
I want a president. Say the guy's a dog, the
guy's a loser. I really like that. Now, what do
we know about her? A lot of this is secret stuff.

(21:42):
We know that she went to school in Switzerland, like
Kim Jong und did.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Do they speak English?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Most people that go to school in Switzerland do English
is sort of. I don't know if it's required, but
it's you know, French, or or it's German, or it's
Italian in some places, mainly French and German. But this
is a woman who is going to be a big,
big player. Now, is she going to succeed Kim Jong un?

(22:14):
Probably not. Why is that not because she doesn't have
the credentials, or she's so close to him, or she
doesn't have the ability.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
It's in North Korea.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
It becomes intergenerational, so it'll be one of Kim Jong
UN's sons probably who take over. Just a fascinating lady.
Wanted to share that with you. That's in the news.
