Forty bill handle here it is a footy Friday, December fifth.
Some of the big stories we are looking at Russian
President Putin is in India and he is cut a
deal with India selling Russian oil. And one of the
factors involved in force forcing Putin to the table, especially
(00:32):
in the Ukraine War, has to do with limiting his
Russia's ability to sell oil, certainly to the Western world.
Now it has made it very much difficult because Modi,
Prime Minister of India, and Putin the President of Russia
have cut themselves a deal to sell oil.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Mody to buy oil, Russia to sell oil.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Okay, story, a local story has to do with that
movie studio just down the street from US. I mean
Burbank has movie studios like crazy. This is Warner Brothers,
where all of I think turns into Kuenga. Anyway, Netflix
is buying Warner Brothers, a seventy two billion dollar deal
(01:17):
that completely transforms Hollywood. It has agreed to pay seventy
two billion dollars and also agreed to take on more
than ten.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Billion dollars of Warner Brothers debt.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
So now we're talking about an eighty two billion dollar
deal and that was announced this morning, and man, what
does it do? I mean, Netflix gets Batman, Harry Potter,
Fred Flintstone's classics like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Harry Potter and Friends,
Stranger Things which I've never watched, K Pop Demon Hunters,
(01:52):
which I probably will never watch, the Squid Game, which
I like because of so much gratuitous violence. And the
breakthrough actually came last night because the deadline for the
deal and this broke up. This is normal corporate fighting,
but just the numbers are staggering. Okay, a deadline for
(02:13):
the deal closed. And what happened is Netflix, Paramount and
Camco Comcast submitted bids. Paramount owned by Ellison. Larry Ellison
was let's just say that he really wanted to buy
this thing. He is or David Ellison, the son of
(02:36):
Larry Ellison, forty two years old, and he is building
this entertainment juggernaut is being described has two movie studios, HBO,
two dozen cable channels. I mean, it's a big deal,
and he wanted Warner Brothers so he submits the bill
to Warner Brothers and they reject it. Not enough money.
(02:57):
It's that the bit is way too low. So in
late October, what does Discovery Warner Brothers Discovery do. It
opens up the auction up to other bidders, and you
had three bidders that were fighting for the Warner Brothers,
all of Warner Brothers. There's a few there's a few
(03:18):
exceptions that they're setting aside. But so you had a
bidding war between Netflix, Paramount, and Comcast. Netflix wins out,
and what happens to Netflix all of a sudden, Let
me tell you how big it gets. Netflix has three
(03:38):
hundred million streaming customers right now. With HBO Max, the
company base goes to four hundred and twenty million subscribers,
seven million people in the world.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
It's a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's much greater than any of the other premium video
on demand streaming services. And so who's upset with this, Well,
not only Paramount, but you've got the movie theater owners
that are a little upset because netfeet afflicts releases movies
to its streaming platform early and it bypasses in some
(04:12):
cases the theater chains.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
And of course the theater change.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
One of the trade groups, Cinema United, represents owners of
fifty thousand screens. This is what the president said. This
is the president of Cinema United. The negative impact of
this acquisition will impact theaters from the biggest circuits to
one screen independence. Effectively, it's going to wipe out independent
movie studios. The Director's Guild of America fighting it because
(04:44):
this combination, this purchase raises significant concerns. A vibrant competitive industry,
one that fosters creativity, encourages genuine competition for talent is
essential in safeguarding the careers and creative rights of directors.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
According to the DGA, here's the bottom line.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
And I go back to when I was I actually
was an usher in a movie theater in Van Eyes
when I was growing up in the valley and as
a teenager, one of the jobs I had was a
movie theater. Matter of fact, it was the Van Eyes Theater,
which I think now is a Hispanic theater. Every time
I pass it, it's the same movie they pay over
and over again, which I don't understand. Oi or HOI.
(05:28):
They just keep on playing HOI, which I just don't get.
How do they get people in for years at a time.
In any case, I remember when cable first came out
and on a table in the lobby there was a
sign and it showed a fictional sort of an animated
(05:50):
dragon with huge claws grabbing the movie screens and saying,
sign our petition because cable was going to wipe out movies,
and now streaming services are going to wipe out movies. Well,
the reality is that technology moves ahead. It just moves ahead.
(06:12):
Podcast is affecting AM radio radio like crazy television is
affected by streaming, by TikTok by YouTube. Things change, and
so Netflix has now become the major player in the
world of streaming by a long shot. And so I
(06:34):
wonder if we're going to see the Netflix sign on
the Warner Brothers lot. You know they have you go
down the street and there's all the sound stages and
the big sign across the sound stage as Warner Brothers.
I wonder if I's gonna say Netflix. Don't know the
answer to that. Okay, this is another episode of huh
how does that work?
Speaker 1 (06:54):
All right?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
The President Pardon x Hundur and President Juan Orlando Hernandez,
who is serving forty five years in federal prison for
cocaine trafficking. And how did he get a pardon? Well,
there was an intense lobbying campaign by some Trump confidence
(07:15):
confident confidance conservative media, Roger Stone, Matt Gates, and Hernandez
always denied the charges. Was convicted of conspiring to ship
four hundred tons of cocaine in the US and taking
millions in bribes. So how did President Trump pardon this guy? Well,
(07:37):
he's a very smart guy, and he built up a
whole series, whole group of advocates on his size, on
his side from Washington Tomorrow Lago, and the announcement absolutely
stunned presidential allies and even members of the administration, including
officials who spent years building the case against it. And
(08:01):
here is what is so extraordinary about this. The Trump
administration is going balls to the wall against narcotics and
those people involved in narcotics. Look at the boats that
are being attacked, Look at the conversations that are having
about invading Venezuela because of the drug issue. While that's
going on simultaneously, a pardon for a guy who was
(08:24):
convicted and sentenced to forty five years in prison. I
you know what's going on? Where is the discrepancy, Well,
it's right there. But here is the here is.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
The thinking behind this.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Trump has said that Hernandez was convicted from the by
the deep state because he was convicted during Biden's administration.
The investigation started during Obama the Obama administration. But Hernandez,
who is very right wing and Trump ally, was convicted
(09:00):
because of the deep state. He was convicted of the
prosecutors who hate America, and also because Joe Biden targeted him.
It's it was a decade spent building building the case
against him, and who made the pitch well, as I said,
(09:23):
Republicans in Washington. He attended evangelical events, He pitched himself
as a staunch ally on migration and security, and Trump
praise him for stopping drugs at a level that has
never happened. Instead of him being convicted of accepting brides
and pushing the cocaine industry and four hundred tons, he
(09:47):
actually was fighting that. Okay, wait a second, then, how
do you get convicted? Well, because it's Biden, because it
was the doj under Biden, and it was the deep state,
and it was the unconstitutional and going after him. Because
Trump says, look what happened to me. The DOJ went
after me, and now they're going after him. And he
(10:11):
listens to the last person and talks to him.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
And there were.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
All kinds of people that were going in favor, that
were screaming in favor of him. So the current president,
Zomara Castro, who is a leftist, that's another problem. So
the talking points prepared by Hernandez said, as I said,
(10:34):
he's the victim of the deep state. He was strime,
strong on crime, and the Castro government is a communist
regime colluding with Venezuelan drug traffickers. And unfortunately, here is
the bottom line. If I've said this over and over again.
If you are an ally of the president, you can
(10:56):
do no wrong. If you you are a perceived enemy,
you can do no right. Letitia James being indicted for
fraud in accused of putting down the wrong address when
applying for a loan, saying I actually lived in one
district when she lived in another.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
That's the accusation.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
And guess what the grand jury said, there's no evidence here,
there's not enough evidence here. The previous US attorney had
said there's no evidence here or not enough. So Trump
fires the US attorney in Virginia, replaces him with a
woman who's never prosecuted a case in her life, but
(11:39):
was a former who was a former representative, former attorney
attorney for Trump personally. She gets bounced by the court
saying that she had no business being a prosecutor for
technical reasons. And now the grand jury just said no,
and they're going to keep on going. They're going to
(12:01):
keep on going. Hang on a minute. Forty five years
in prison for the president, former president of Honduras for
cocaine distribution, importing of cocaine, four hundred tons, millions of
dollars in bribes. Pardon, Letitia James. You lied on that application,
(12:22):
you put down the wrong address. We're going after you.
It is stunning. It is stunning. And on top of that,
this man who got forty five years in prison, and
there was the evidence, I mean, it was overwhelming. They
built the case over ten years. That's all fake. All
(12:44):
of that is fake. If you're an ally of the president,
you can do no wrong, doesn't matter what you have done.
If you are an enemy, you'll never do what's right.
And we're going to go to the fullest extent of
the law. James call me lied to Congress based on
(13:04):
one witness who said he did one, let's go after him.
It's you know again, you know I get nail for
being anti Trump.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
I just have a hard time with this stuff. I
really do.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
I mean stuff like this, even those who advocate for
the president.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
How do you argue with this? How do you argue?
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Maybe you argue that DJ really did go after anybody
who's a Trump ally.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Maybe he did. Maybe the DD is that corrupt?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
I I think it's more corrupt today than it's ever been.
Or does the independence of the DJ, which it's known for,
has disappeared?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
All right, We're done with that.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Hey, crimes in La County up, up, up, and I'm
going to talk about that. Because you don't want to
be Histamic Hispanic. You don't want to be a Muslim.
You don't want and be a Muslim Jew. Wait a minute,
how can you be a Muslim Jew? Okay, I'll figure
that out during the break. Coming up to the top
of the hour, it is foody Friday with the Neil
(14:11):
and Law and we actually have a story stories that
don't involve Costco this time around.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Oh that's a shocker. And then coming at eight thirty.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
It's ask handle anything, the absolute fun fun, let's embarrass
handle segment. All right, hate crimes, this is a real drag.
Hate crimes in La County continue it record levels, but
no surprise. Look at the political atmosphere. I don't remember
hate crimes like this being this serious since nine to eleven,
(14:51):
since the Gulf War, and that was against those of
the Muslim faith, and people were Arabic countries and some
aren't even Arabic. And this time around, entire communities are
being nailed, and so it's no surprise.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
So who is being nailed? Who is getting the worst
of it?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Well, first of all, these are not astronomical numbers, but
they're going up every year, except there was a slight
decline last year one percent.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Big deal.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
LA County Commission on Human Relations reported thirteen and fifty
five reported cases of hate crimes.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
In the county.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
The increase, and this is the part that I think
is really troubling. Hate crimes against the Middle Eastern community
increased sevenfold.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
That's the largest of any racial category.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Crimes involving language regarding the conflict in the Middle East
accounted for six percent of all the total incidents. So
just screaming to Muslims, get out of here, you're a
bunch of terrorists whatever. That has increased, and most of
those in school setting. And unfortunately what's happening now is
(16:07):
immigrants and transgender people are getting hit pretty badly. Immigrants,
Hispanic people, of course, that's going on with immigration, and
LGBTQ people are getting absolutely nailed. My daughter's roommate is trans.
I'm hoping she allows me to say that. And served
(16:29):
in the US Army, did several tours tours in Iraq
in Afghanistan, specifically six years in the US Army, and
the US Army gave at that time a gender affirming
general affirming medication and medical procedures. She worked at Amazon
(16:49):
for a period of time, which also did well. Amazon
swept through and as you know, just laid off you
hundreds of thousands of people or if not tens of
thous the people so lost there so at least the veterans. Well,
Pete Hegsith, guess what they did. Guess what the what
Pete Headsack and the Defense Department did. There's no such
(17:11):
thing as transgender people anymore. They don't exist either you're
a man or a woman, and it doesn't matter. And
if you're trying to trans then there's something wrong with
you and you really don't even exist. You're either a
man or you are or you are a woman. And
based on that, and the LGBTQ community has always always
(17:35):
been attacked. It became mainstream and I've well, you know
where I sit. I've been in favor of LGBTQ rights
for my entire adult life. Matter of fact, the first
child of a gay couple that I helped through surrogacy
(17:56):
is now forty four years old. That's how long I've
been helping gay people have children. So and I've been
a proponent of gay marriage way before gay marriage. So
I'm proud of myself on that one. Okay, I'm gonna,
you know, pound my chest and go here you go,
look at me. The problem is I'm becoming more and
(18:18):
more of a minority. It's just the thing to do
is to fight LGBTQ people and fight the rights. And
so these hate crimes are going up and up, and
it's just, I mean, it is horrible. By the way,
the religious based hate crimes, which accounted for eighty percent
of the religious based hate crimes.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Who do you think we're targeted.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Jews.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Everybody hates the Jews. Why because they.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Own all of the media, They own all the insurance company,
they all the businesses, and if you ask Marjorie Taylor Green,
they also control the laser beams that come down from
the satellite and light up. Uh are wildfires here in California? Okay,
fair enough. Google every year gives us the top trending
(19:14):
searches this year.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Which one do you think it is? Neil? If you
haven't read the story, who do you think it is?
Speaker 3 (19:22):

Speaker 1 (19:24):

Speaker 3 (19:25):

Speaker 1 (19:26):

Speaker 3 (19:30):

Speaker 2 (19:32):

top trending searches. So it's a story or person. It's
the searches?
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Which one? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:40):

Speaker 1 (19:41):

get wrong. But searches? Uh is Santa Claus real?

I have no idea what that is.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Lab you Bus?
Speaker 2 (20:49):
What hell?
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I do I know?
Speaker 2 (20:50):
And that's a toy, right, Yeah, that's number thing plus
it's like a little doll. Yeah, but that's number.
Speaker 1 (20:58):

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Very popular monsters.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Clearly you want to find them clearly so you can
clip them to your purse or you're okay, help buckle
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
The government shutdown is next President Trump's what big beautiful
bill act.
Speaker 3 (21:19):

that's okay, honey, Is Gibbs one p or two?
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yes? I would yes. So those are the numbers.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
It's And by the way, the DATEA is taken from
January one through November twenty five, and it compiles the moments, people, topics,
events and places that has captured the world's attention. So
Charlie Kirk number one search trending people. Zo Ron Mandani
(22:11):
or Mandani now is the mayor of New York. Death's
Charlie Kirk, Gene Hackman, Ozzy Osbourne I was number four
trending actor Pedro Pascal.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Okay, I thought he was a baseball player. No, he's
from the Last of Us. Okay, got it?
Speaker 3 (22:32):
And The Mandalorian and the Mandalorian.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Okay, okay, I.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Started watching The Mandalorian. Yeah, just reminded me of of
Will Coleschreiber.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Pretty stupid.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Uh only only only because of what he said.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
No, he's not dumb, it's what he said was dumb.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I want to I want to come back because Will
