Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's camf I AM six and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio apps. We've got
problems in Burbank and this update came in four and
a half minutes ago. It's on the five Freeway near Verdugo,
which is between Alameda and Olive, near Magnolia. It's one

(00:23):
of the main thoroughfares through that area, and the vibes
have gone bad and we have the info.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Terrible spot and a terrible time of the day. You're
looking at the southbound side of the five Freeway all
jammed up, a complete standstill as you make your way
through Burbank to the traffic backup extending miles as police
activity has shut down both sides of the freeway. The
northbound side is actually getting by as police direct traffic
around the activity, but there's still only one lane getting by,

(00:52):
and the backup is extensive as you make your way
in both directions, southbound and northbound as they rectify the situation,
reporting lackmer I'm Chris Christy, ABC seven.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I We'll just do all right.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
We can look out our windows here and I can
see two of those helicopters. I imagine one of them is
Channel seven. We're watching it live right now in channel five.
Let's throw on Channel five real quick steph fush see
if they have any more information. But man, that freeway
is shut down. It looks like maybe somebody has jumped
off of through bank.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Let me listen in and show you what's going on here.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
As I come up to the freeway here, you can
see traffic at a dead stop. In fact, cars are
going back onto an on ramp here they're making a
U turn. This is the south side of the five
Freeway at the Burbank Boulevard. That backup is all the
way to Hollywood Way. But let me come back to
the north Found lanes. You can see the freeway compotently
shut down. Cars there there are being exited at Olive,

(01:46):
but the backup extends all the way beyond the one
point thirty four freeway and almost back to the two freeways.
So a big traffic nightmare out of your burbank right
now because of police activity at Olive. But again, if
you're coming into this area, you're gonna want to avoid
the five Freeway if you can take the one thirty
four west of the one seventy. If you're going northbound.

(02:07):
You can do the one seventy south from the five
Freeway to get around this into the one thirty four.
But again, this is not changing here anytime soon. That's
the latest overhead up in sky five. I'll send it
back to you in the studio.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
What a night.

Speaker 6 (02:19):
Yeah, stave alert for at least an hour.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Gilly, My guess just looking at it is somebody jumped off.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
The Olive Bridge.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
That's what it looks like if you're stuck in that
mix up the five Freeway, you're trying to get home
Mother's Day weekend. You're gonna go to Costco and get
your mom something something she probably won't use or like,
but you feel guilty. You gotta lay something on your mom.
I know it's Mother's Day when I go to home
Deepot and there's flowers everywhere. It's either Valentine's Day or

(02:49):
Mother's Day.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
And I like that. Low's does it.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Too, where it's all the blue collar guys that forgot
that it's Mother's Day or Valentine's Day and they can
you know, you can get all your equipment at home
depot and then also pick up a half dozen roses
to lay on mom.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Good idea interesting, But that freeway is closed.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
If you're stuck in that jam, call us up here,
tell us what you see. You'll be our KF eyes
get it.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Whatever, that's great.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Eight hundred five two oh one five three four one.
Eight hundred five two oh one five three four. We're
also following a story one person's been shot at a
park in Compton. So just as you thought, wow, it's
an easy Friday, I'll get up to Santa Clarita, Hi, Palmdale,

(03:45):
Lancaster and enjoy myself. I'll be listening to the Conway
Show as I drive home. Not so fast, not so fast.
The five Freeway is closed at a very very busy
area down town Burbank, California. So it's a mess. We
just saw it on Channel five. We saw it on

(04:05):
Channel seven. We can see the helicopters from the building
we're in right now on Olive, and that means all
the side streets in Burbank are going to be completely jammed.
You're gonna have Buena Vista Olive, for du Go, Riverside, Alameda.
They're all going to be a mess until they clear
this up. So if you're there and you're stuck in traffic,

(04:27):
or perhaps you saw something, or perhaps you just want
to you're just pissed, or you want to tell your
family that you're going to be late one eight hundred
five two oh one five three four, and we'll try
to get you out of the air. Maybe you can
tell mom Happy Mother's Day. But that is a mess, belly. Oh,
I know that you're going to take that one thirty

(04:49):
four home and you are two krozier.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
What what are we looking at it? It's not going
to be good. It's not going to be good.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
If you're on the five Freeway, they're turning people around
on the southbound five Freeway and they're turning people around,
and you're getting off the five Freeway on the five
south on ramp. They're turning around, and you're getting off
the five Freeway on the Burbank on ramp. So you're
going backwards. And then there's an in and out there

(05:19):
that most likely will be fairly crowded because of the
million people that are stuck in that area. But there's
a there's a nice movie theater there, but you can
slide off go the movies for a while because you're
not going anywhere soon anyway. Anytime soon. And there's an
in and out there. There's Tommy's McDonald's. There's a five

(05:40):
guys in that building.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
It's a kind of a cool hang.

Speaker 7 (05:43):
You know.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
It's where I live, a couple miles from downtown Burbank,
and that's my hang.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
That's where I go.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
That's where I get all my sushi, and I do
my hot yoga, my pilates, the you know, the whole Yeah, yeah,
I get out the hot cycling, I get the whole
run going down there in downtown Burbank. But if you
live in downtown Burbank in one of those apartment buildings
and you look out over the freeway, it's sort of
an eerie feeling and an eerie site. It's all closed,

(06:11):
all of it. There's nobody getting through. There's a little
bit of relief on the northbound side. You can get
off at Verdugo and stay on the little off ramp.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
On ramp thing and then get right back streeway.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Man, don't don't don't tell people where to go, because
that's where we're going. No, this is it's not gonna
affect you as much. This is going to be north
of where you'll be, and it's going to affect o
people coming westbound on the one thirty four. If you
want to get on the one thirty four exchange to
the northbound five, that's going to affect you. There is

(06:46):
no northbound five from the one thirty four eastbound. If
you're going east on the one thirty four, you cannot
get on the five northbound. Somebody forgot that, that flyover
or that exchange.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
They just forgot it. They forgot to what went on that.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
We have Brent online too, that knows what's going on
right now.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
All right, Brent, you're on KFI. What's going on out there?

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Bob? Hey, Tim?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, I just saw. I drove on the front of
road right by Verdugo and basically the Verdugo overpass. There's
a guy sitting on the sign, the road sign that
goes on the southbound side.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Okay, so he's threatening to jump? Is that what they're
worried about.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
No, he looks like.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
He's lounging and having a good time.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
It did not look like he was threading his jump.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
You know, who knows.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
I only saw for a second there, but the firefighters
were down below with the ladder truck on the southbound
freeway and uh, and it looked like cops all above
trying to get.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Him off there.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Okay, let me let me take Let me give you
two options here, and you have to guess what this
guy's background is. Okay, okay, is this guy? Is this
guy a homeless guy who going through some mental and
physical and monetary challenges or does it look like he's
the CEO of Ford and he just sort of has

(08:09):
taking a breather for a little while.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
I think, you know what, the Ford options looking really promising,
but I think it's the homeless guy.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Okay, all right, Yeah, that's where my money is as well.
Hi buddy, where are you are? Are you on the
overpass right now? Are you on the stuck on the freeway?

Speaker 7 (08:28):
No?

Speaker 3 (08:28):
So I was about to get onto the onto the
freeway and I ended up going on the front ofge
Road and so I got on that Verdugo southbound and
that was open. It's just past the Verdugo overpass, and
I made it and now I'm free of the traffic. O.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Good.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
But if you're on the one thirty four going you know,
going west, you're stuck. If you're going on the five North,
you're stuck. If you're going five south the north of
the Erdugo Pass. You're stuck. Yeah, it's a mess.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
So you can get on at Ford.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yougo going southbound on the five, right near that piano store.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Yeah, I think that's where the Yeah, exactly, there's a
little that little half j turned onto the south.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Okay, all right, all right, Well look if you get
through there, then the rest of the five is a
breeze because all the freeway, all the you know, the
traffic is stuck.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, it's definitely everywhere else is going
to be clear. But get going that opposite directions.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
Horrible.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
What are you doing? What are you doing for tank you, Budy?
What are you doing for Mother's Day?

Speaker 9 (09:39):
Mother's Day?

Speaker 10 (09:40):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
It's Uh, it's too busy. I got kids graduating and
and we're just going to be chasing the kids and
uh giving gifts.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
I're proably gonna go home depot and get some flowers.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Okay, all right, top shelf guy.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
All right, Brent, thanks for phoning.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Man.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
I appreciate it. Guys. All I love you too. I
wasn't going to say it in front of everybody, but yeah,
I do. I love that guy. I don't know him,
but I love him. Fuck to Martin, what's going on
with this guy? Martin? You're on the air.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
Yes, yes, I'm on the air.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Oh what's going on out there?

Speaker 9 (10:20):
Man?

Speaker 6 (10:20):
I was on the five from myrth end. It's ridiculous.
So I was only when my gprs were telling to
get off a zoo drive.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
Eventually I was listening to you guys. Eventually I got
off at one thirty four Wests and I took one
of this. I remind I got some dinner from ranching
away to PALMDA, but I took.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
One of this.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
I mean the right on Olive now the old Pats
Olive us closed at Burbank.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Make you right on, right on right?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
What?

Speaker 1 (10:55):
That so?

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Very interesting?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
All right, Martin?

Speaker 1 (10:59):
It sounds like the guy on the freeway sign is
having a better time than.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
You right now. It looks like it, all right, But
I appreciate the phone call. That's great. All right. There's
a guy on the overpass.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
He's on the sign, and now everybody has to blow
up their Friday night because of this idiot. That's where
we live, all right. We'll keep an eye on this.
We're live on KFI five is ft in Burbank.

Speaker 8 (11:27):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on de Mayo from
KFI Am sixty.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
It is The Conway Show. We got bad news. If
you're on the five. For you going through Burbank, it
is shut down. There's a guy, probably a homeless guy,
maybe not, but you know that's where everybody's you know,
wager is that it probably is a homeless guy. And
he's kicking back on the freeway sign right at Olive

(11:57):
crossing over the freeway freeway and it's closed and it's
gonna be closed for quite some time until they can
figure out how to get this guy to get off
that sign.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
And that's where we live. That's where we are.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Five Freeway in Burbank then shutdown amid the Friday afternoon
rush hour traffic due to police activity. California Higway Patrol
announced right around six pm, so about twenty five minutes ago,
northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway would be closed
at Verdugo Avenue for about an hour, might be longer
than an hour. Northbound traffic would be diverted off of

(12:34):
Olive Avenue. Southbound traffic at Burbank Boulevard. Air seven with
Chris Christy is flying over. Let's find out what's going
on with this guy.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
Revenues a traffic nightmare on the five Freeway. I'm David Ono,
I'm Jovanalata.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
All lanes are closed in Burbank due to police activity.
We have Chris Christy live in Air seven over the scene.
What's the latest, Chris, that's.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Right, Javanna.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
A terrible spot and a terrible time of the day.
You look at the southbound side the freeway all jammed up,
a complete standstill as you make your way through Burbank
to the traffic backup extending miles as policing to the
shut down both sides of the freeway. The northbound side
is actually getting by as police direct traffic around the activity,
but there's still only one lane getting by and the

(13:19):
backup is extensive as you make your way in both directions,
southbound and northbounds on a nightmare.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Reporting seven.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
I'm Chris Christie ABC seven.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
I We'll just do all right.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's a complete nightmare, and and that's who we have
to deal with nowadays.

Speaker 8 (13:35):
Breaking news and tell you about Remember.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
There's another driving a test that's a different story. But
we have to deal with crazies all week, all month,
all year. It's always crazy people that are getting in
our way and slowing us down. Almost always crazy. And
now there's a crazy guy who decided to kick back.

(13:57):
It looks like he's sitting in a lounge chair on
the freeway sign there above the Olive overpass of the
five Freeway. But if you can get by it, you know,
somehow you've been able to figure out how to get
around this man. You are on Easy Street all the
way literally all the way back to Santa Clarita, wherever

(14:18):
you're going. You're you've made it. But the problem is
you got to get over this thing. But once you
do that, you're cool.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
You're cool.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
But that's gonna be the big obstacle, the northbound traffic.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Man, oh man, it goes, it starts downtown. I just
want them to drag it out another half hour. Oh
I think they'll do that. Yeah for you, Oh.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, because once they open that thing up, it's gonna
be well.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
I don't know. I thitting ended like towards Griffith Park
that that interchange. Maybe maybe.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, I think you're good though, I think you only
need another fifteen to twenty minutes of this thing. But
if you're going northbound on the freeway, man, you are
stuck all the way from downtown LA all the way
into Burbank. If you can get around it, once you
get back on the five Freeway northbound, man, you're good
all the way almost until Santa Clarita, or you don't

(15:13):
hit any traffic until you get to Augwa Dulce, like
real traffic to Augwa Dulce. If you're going out to Palmdale, Now,
if you're going southbound on the five Freeway, once you
get by it, you're on easy Street. After that incident
southbound five, man, you're breezing all the way downtown. It'll
seem like a you know, Christmas morning, no traffic until

(15:34):
you get to I don't know, maybe East Los Angeles.
So we got to get you buy that. Got to
get you buy that. Stay tuned and stay on KFI.

Speaker 8 (15:43):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM sixty.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Oh, we've got big problems in Burbank. The five Freeway
completely shut down north and southbound at right around six o'clock.
So perfect timing with this lad and he's just hanging
on the freeway sign at the I think it's the
Olive Overpass. There's a huge apartment building right there on Burbank,

(16:10):
right off the five freeway, and a lot of people
are cruising around there trying to get their way find
their way home. But Burbank is a mess right now.
You can't get over Olive. Burbank Boulevard is a completely jam.
You're not going be able to get over that way.
They have to go down to Alameda. Alameda's jam going

(16:31):
under the freeway. You could go down to it looks
like if you look, if you if you went to Western,
it looks like you can get through on Western, which
is just south of the home depot there on Flower.
So Western it looks like you can.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Go through there.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
And if you go far enough on Western and turn
right on San Fernando, del Taco del Taco right there,
enjoy some hot fries and some tacos while you're stuck
in traffic.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
There's an ikea there.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
You can burn some hours there in the ikea right
off of Alameda and San Fernando. I think it's the
biggest ikea in America, if I'm not mistaken. I think
it's the largest Ikea in America. So buy some stuff,
give it a mom, and nothing says I love you
more than putting your own furniture together for Mother's Day.
Give her a wrench, give her the know how to

(17:22):
the instructions, and say, hey Ma, we got your addresser,
but you're going to have to put it together.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Happy Mother's Day.

Speaker 7 (17:27):
Mo.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Yeah, we gotta get out of here. Good I so long.
All right.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Burbank traffic update nightmare in Burbank.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
As the California Higher Patrol issued a sig alert for
those lanes both directions northbound and southbound on the five
year through Burbank. In fact, the closure starts on the
northbound side at the Olive Street and the southbound side
at Burbank. Let me tilt up the freeway here to
show you what's going on at Burbank. You're seeing cars
that are being diverted back up the on ramp here.

(17:57):
That's the southbound lanes of the five Freeway. This is
all because of police activity at Olive Street. As I
come back to the northbound side of the freeway, you
see all the cars are being exited at Olive, but
this northbound side is growing rapidly here to back up
all the way back to the two freeway. That's where
it's building from right now. So a big headache out

(18:18):
here on the five Freeway. That doesn't look like this
is going to be opening up anytime soon. So if
you want to get around this traffic mess, take the
five northbound to the one thirty four westbound to the
one seventy northbound, Or if you're southbound five Freeway coming
out of the San Fernando area, you're going to want
to take the one seventy south to the one thirty

(18:39):
four east to get around this traffic mess. But again,
the police activity here is still ongoing, and the CHP
has issued this singular for at least an hour, if
not longer. That's the latest overhead up in Sky five.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
All right, if you're downtown Los Angeles, the traffic is
backed up all the way to downtown. My Strawberry shortcut
for you, it's going to take you about fifteen to
twenty miles out of your way. Take the two northbound
to the two ten, little traffic there, and then the
two ten all the way out to the five freeway,

(19:11):
and that's right at Balboa you're gonna get You'll be
doing the speed limit the whole way, almost the whole way,
and that'll get you around this mess. So if you're
going southbound, though, you've got to really rely on the
four h five or the one seventy to get around this.
But don't get caught in this. You're going to pull

(19:32):
your hair out.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
It's a mess.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
And if you're going to Hollywood Burbank Airport, there's gonna
be a lot of traffic around there as well, lots
of it. So be aware that this is not going
to be an easy day for you to get home,
especially if you are if you live in Burbank. To
get around the streets of Burbank right now is a mess,
an absolute mess. They're all jammed. So good luck, good luck,

(19:59):
and we'll keep on top of this and as soon
as it opens, you'll hear about it here on KFI.
All right, the Highway Patrol, California Highway Patrol. You've seen
this bellio, you see it all the time. I see
it all the time. I see a lot on the
two ten, the one thirty four, and the five people
that are driving like it's a video game.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
Yes, where they're going weaving in it, like going very
high speeds. Weaving in and out, and it's usually like
two or three of them chasing one another.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
And cutting everybody off. Yeah, and I see it all
the time, and you always either you know, you yell
at them in your car and they're raging with another driver,
or they're just playing it like it's a video game. Well,
now the Highway Patrols onto this, and they're going to
try to nail these people, and they're going to do
it incognito.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
How about this.

Speaker 11 (20:51):
You might hear but not see the California Highway Patrols
new patrol cruiser until it's too late.

Speaker 10 (20:57):
This is our new twenty twenty four Dodge Drengo Specially
Marked Patrol Vehicle.

Speaker 11 (21:02):
HP Commissioner Sean Durrie gave KTVU an exclusive first look
at the vehicles at the HP Academy in West Sacramento.

Speaker 10 (21:09):
They have a three hundred and sixty degree concealed, state
of the art light package that really it's hard to
detect until the lights come on.

Speaker 11 (21:17):
VA drivers may be more familiar with HP cruisers like
these dogs chargers, the Durrangos are a different breed though.

Speaker 10 (21:23):
The idea and the purpose of this is to go
out and blend them with traffic a little bit so
we can seek out and apprehend these aggressive and reckless drivers.

Speaker 11 (21:33):
Four hundred of these Drengos will soon pop up across
the state.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Oh that's great, got to stop these guys. These guys
are the most dangerous guys on the war on the road,
going in and out, weaving in and out, speeding, cutting
everybody off. Man, I thought a guy was going to
wipe me out the other day, miss me probably by
two inches on my front bumper.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
He was doing.

Speaker 11 (21:51):
Ninety two hundred of them will be standard black and white,
one hundred of them will be all white, and one
hundred others will be all sorts of colors, from destroyer
gray to the darker night moves.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
The goal is not.

Speaker 11 (22:02):
To stand out like a regular cop car. The Durango
comes with all the regular components of a sgedp cruiser,
with dash cams, sirens, and powerful engines designed for pursuits.

Speaker 10 (22:13):
Every one of these twenty twenty four Dodged dur Angos
will be equipped with the eight Henny Police Pursuit package.

Speaker 11 (22:20):
All right, let's check it out. The Commissioner took one
of the Drangos out for a spin. With me in tow.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
So this is the high speed track where all the
cadets trained.

Speaker 11 (22:29):
Several cadets actually put their training on hold as we
put the dods through its paces. How's the handling on
this thing?

Speaker 4 (22:35):
It's actually really really good, especially for an SUV. You
won't expect that an SUV.

Speaker 11 (22:39):
As Commissioner Deree spends a bit of time at his desk,
but as the number one CHP officer, his driving skills
aren't rusty.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Yes, excellent, number one.

Speaker 11 (22:48):
You could pass any cast right now, absolutely, and it's
clear Dere's no desk jockey after twenty seven years in
the highway patrol.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
You're going to get you. If you're out there weaving
in and out like the video game. These guys are
coming after you.

Speaker 11 (23:01):
I also asked the Commissioner about his drifting skills. After all,
this is the track where c HP driving instructors show off.
They're driving chops.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
All right, be aware they're coming after you. They're going
to try to get this crap to stop. But we're
live that Burbank five Freeway through Burbank is still closed
northbound and southbound. You have to try to figure out
how to get around this it's a nightmare because a
guy standing on the sign at Olive and the five Freeway.

(23:31):
He's on the freeway sign and he's not coming down.
So because that idiot is on that sign, thousands, hundreds
of thousands of people are now delayed and getting home
to the kids, to mom, to dad, to the dogs,
for a date, for a party, whatever. We're all subject
to this idiot standing on that freeway sign.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 8 (23:56):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
The five Freeway is still closed in Burbank. That's the major,
major story and the big roadblock, the big stumbling block
to getting home and joining your mother's day weekend. You're
not going anywhere. You're stuck on the freeway. Here's an
update for you. It happened just after six pm. A
guy is standing on the freeway sign on the Olive

(24:23):
overpass of the five Freeway and he's not coming down.

Speaker 9 (24:26):
Break News a traffic nightmare on the five Freeway. I'm
David Ono, I'm jovon Alata.

Speaker 7 (24:32):
All lanes are closed in Burbank due to police activity.
We have Chris Christy live in Air seven over the scene.
What's the latest.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Chris, that's right, Javanna, A terrible spot and a terrible
time of the day. You're looking at the southbound side
of the five Freeway all jammed up, a complete standstill
as you make your way through Burbank to the traffic
backup extending miles as police activity has shut down both
sides of the freeway. The northbound side is actually getting
by as police direct trap around the activity, but there's

(25:01):
still only one lane getting by and the backup is
extensive as you make your way in both directions, southbound
and northbound as they rectify the situation. Reporting live Mayre seven,
I'm Chris Christie, ABC seven.

Speaker 9 (25:13):
I will just new Okay, canows a traffic nightmare.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Traffic nightmare.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Now, if you're stuck in that traffic and you want
to spend a little time in Burbank, I will help
you out. If you're north of that incident and you're
going southbound on the five Freeway, maybe you're on Victory
and Victory's jam two. But there's a place out there
called the Empire Center. You got your Low's RII what
else is out there? I think Target, Yes, TJ, Max Nordstrom, Rack,

(25:42):
Michael's best Buy. There's a Walmart there, and if you're peckish,
there's a nice Wendy's there, I think one of the
more popular Wendy's. There's also a I think Krispy Kreme
is closed for remodeling, but there's a Panda Express. I
don't recommend Panda Express if you're going to be in
your car in traffic for obvious reasons. There's an Olive

(26:03):
Garden there, a hook Burger which is very good, and
a Blaze Pizza and then you also have your outback steakhouse.
All right, So that's north, and there's also a Costco there.
There's a Costco right there off Victory and Burbank.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
That's my Costco. That's my Costco.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
And then if you're south trying to get north, well
you got dr Kia and downtown Burbank. And if you
want to get over this incident or under the freeway,
Alameda is jammed, but you can get through. There's a
lot of traffic there. And then further south is Western
and Western looks pretty good. Western you can get through there,

(26:42):
and there's a couple of fast food places there. Off
of Western. There's a Del Taco there that I enjoy.
And there's the Cult Bakeries a brother as well. But
those are your two best bets if you want to stay,
hang in the Burbank city until this clears up. There's
a lot to do with the Burbank Mall. There's movie

(27:02):
theaters there. There's a great.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Downtown Burbank on San Fernando Boulevard. There.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
You can sit there and enjoy yourself a lot of
great restaurants. Because you're not going anywhere, you're stuck. And
then all the surface streets around here, Victory, Magnolia, Olive, Verdugo,
Buena Vista, they're all jammed.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
They're all jammed.

Speaker 7 (27:24):
What about the one thirty four westbound too.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
You're fine, you are breezing.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
You get on the one thirty four at Buena Vista,
you're gonna find a little traffic there until you get
to the five one thirty four break there. And then
once you're on the one thirty four, you are doing
double nickels or more if you're on the two ten,
If you're on the two ten to one thirty four,
and then I'm sorry, the one thirty four to the

(27:51):
two ten with you know Krozier his route, you're not
gonna hit any traffic until Santa Anita. But if you're
going southbound on the five, like miss Bellio, once you
pass this incident, and you're it's not going to take
you long to get to this incident. Once you pass
it five freeways southbound, you're going to be breezing all
the way almost to Dodger Stadium with very little.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
So like for a mile to no traffic, Well, no.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
That's about let's not pooh poo on this Bellio. Maybe
it's two, two or three, and then you'll hit you'll
hit traffic. You're not going to hit a mess of
traffic until you get down to East La and then
you're going to have your normal traffic on the five
for as long as you live. But once you pass

(28:38):
the six oh five, it opens up, doesn't that that
is true?

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Because Orange County knows how to build their freeways, Is
that right? That what you're saying? Yeah, And then you're
you're fine all the way all the way home. But
that incident right now, if you're going northbound on the
five freeway to try to get through, there is not
good forest lawn. There aren't The problem is there's not
a lot of off rams. If you missed the two freeway,

(29:02):
then there are very few off ramps off the five.
There there's the Los Felis. There's another Costco there, which
is nice, the best buy. You can slide in there
and get mom something. And then your next is Colorado.
And if you get off of Colorado you can go
into the There's a beautiful mall there, the Glendale Galleria,
and also the Americana is there, and there's an in

(29:25):
an Outburger there. There's a King Taco that might be
a good move. But anyway, it's a mess. It's an
absolute mess. And I'm sure that Moe Kelly will have
updates for you all night long. I don't know how
long it's going to be closed, but I know Monday
at four pm we'll have all the information on this
idiot that made everybody's life a nightmare. All right, moll
