But when Otani signed with the Dodgers, it was the
biggest news story in the world. When that happened, everybody
around the world was talking about it. Over a billion

that runs the Dodger games.

are our partner in that station, and it's a big,
huge deal where the Dodgers and KLAC is the big
station in town that broadcasts all the games. The Dodgers
are a bit huge. They're the most popular team probably

in baseball. They get the most fans in baseball. They're
the most popular team in LA by far, by far.
Over three million people go to the games every single
season at Dodger Stadium. And so we covered it, and
we weren't asked to cover it a big way, but
we was just such a big story that we all
sort of gravitated to it and it became a huge,
huge story here at KAFIE, and so we said, you know, uh,

Otani's gonna sign tomorrow. He's got a big press conference,
and Thursday is going to be the press conference.

This is on Monday. We started.

This happened like over the weekend, and then on Monday,
every he's talking about it, and we said, okay, on
Thursday at two o'clock, there's gonna be a press conference
at Dodger Stadium to announce Shoheo Tani is signed with
the LA Dodgers. And immediately everybody knew. The countdown. On
Tuesday we said it was going to be the day
after tomorrow. On Wednesday, it's gonna be tomorrow. It's gonna

be tomorrow two. Then on on Thursday, it's gonna be
today at two pm. Today at two and we covered
it almost three hours in every hour. We covered it
all the way up till Thursday. So Steph Fush comes
in our producer board up. He's driving in from the
Torrents area. I'm not really good on where he is
because every time I say he's from Torrents, he corrects that.

But are you from Torrance Hawthorne? You're from Hawthorne, but
you ever lived in Torrents?

Hey? I did live in Tortons okay, all right, yeah,

reporters all around. There was like a limo and cops
were like escorting it.

And then we said what do you think is going
on there? And he goes, oh, it's got to be
some kind of funeral.

Yeah, he thought it was a funeral.

Yeah, somebody big in the sporting world has passed away.
And Bellio like the very good friend and nurturer to
young talent who sometimes make mistakes on radio. What did
you how did you what did you say to him
to correct him and not embarrass him?

I said, hmm, I wonder what that could be. And
then and then I ran to you, and I said,
you're not.

I've never seen her flying. I thought there was an

an hour, you gave up, and you took an uber
here to work, suppressed out of your mind. Oh yeah,
because you thought it was stolen. Everything was gone. Yeah, okay.
And then we get here and Eric Sklar, who produces
the John Colebel Show, ed, I'm gonna go find his car.

Yeah, I had some time to kill. I was like,
you know what Steph is really down, and I like
how he said at first, at the top of the hour,
the movie was just okay. But now that we're here,
he's like, oh, the movie was pretty good. Okay, this
mood's changed a bit. It changes with his mood.

And so so you drive, you leave here, and we're
on Olive.

And basically the one thirty four yeah for geography freaks yep.

And then I take a left on First okay, and
then a right on Magnolia Boom. And there's a parking
structure for the AMC in Burbank right there, right on
the right. I turn right into the driveway. First car
I see. Listen, listen, first car, I see matches the

description of Steph's car. I'm not gonna put it out
there because his car is still sitting there. I don't
want anybody to go take it, Okay. I had to
be like, oh, wow, all right, this is it. I
had to double check the license plate that Steph gave
me didn't match.

Ok And this is in the first over there, Oh
my goodness. And so this is in the first row
of that parking structure, and I in my head, I'm thinking,
I'm gonna start at the top of the parking structure
and work my way down. So if I didn't see
this pre or this car, sorry, I was trying.

If he drives a p okay, all right, so everyone
knows he. I won't say the color. But I see
I see this Prius. If I didn't see it, I
was just gonna go right to the top. As I'm
driving right past, I'm gonna go up to the next level.
Out of my peripherals in that same lane a few
more cars down, but on the other side of the lane,

parking structure. Whow right when you turn into the parking structure.

So Steph, your story checks out. You were running late
to the movie. You probably went to the first parking
spot you saw. You had no idea where you parked.
You were just like I see an open parking spot.
I got to get to Godzilla versus car exactly. I

When you told Steph fush you found his car, he said,

I definitely did think about parking somewhere, getting out of
my car and doing this by foot, and I'm glad

station in town that broadcasts all the games. The Dodgers
are a bit huge. They're the most popular team probably

in baseball. They get the most fans in baseball. They're
the most popular team in LA by far, by far.
Over three million people go to the games every single
season at Dodger Stadium. And so we covered it, and
we weren't asked to cover it a big way, but
we was just such a big story that we all
sort of gravitated to it and it became a huge,
huge story here at KAFIE, and so we said, you know, uh,

Otani's gonna sign tomorrow. He's got a big press conference,
and Thursday is going to be the press conference.

This is on Monday. We started.

This happened like over the weekend, and then on Monday,
every he's talking about it, and we said, okay, on
Thursday at two o'clock, there's gonna be a press conference
at Dodger Stadium to announce Shoheo Tani is signed with
the LA Dodgers. And immediately everybody knew. The countdown. On
Tuesday we said it was going to be the day
after tomorrow. On Wednesday, it's gonna be tomorrow. It's gonna

be tomorrow two. Then on on Thursday, it's gonna be
today at two pm. Today at two and we covered
it almost three hours in every hour. We covered it
all the way up till Thursday. So Steph Fush comes
in our producer board up. He's driving in from the
Torrents area. I'm not really good on where he is
because every time I say he's from Torrents, he corrects that.

you ever lived in Torrents?

And then we said what do you think is going
on there? And he goes, oh, it's got to be
some kind of funeral.

Yeah, he thought it was a funeral.

Yeah, somebody big in the sporting world has passed away.
And Bellio like the very good friend and nurturer to
young talent who sometimes make mistakes on radio. What did
you how did you what did you say to him
to correct him and not embarrass him?

I said, hmm, I wonder what that could be. And
then and then I ran to you, and I said,

you know what Steph is really down, and I like
how he said at first, at the top of the hour,
the movie was just okay. But now that we're here,

had to double check the license plate that Steph gave

reservation agent and you were so worried about losing that

and I had unlimited passes.

so you had to move to Detroit with your mom
and your stepfather.

When you were six I was sixteen, okay, and then
you had to you moved to Detroit with your mom.

No, No, I didn't. I moved to Detroit for a
short time my father was alive.

And then I came back.

was really a fantastic show. It was very well written.
And you know, people they love that theme song even today.

the super Bowl was in the New Stadium, and right.

Down the street from the Forum. Okay, where the Lakers
used to play.

Were you a big fan of Hollywood Park? Did you
ever go to the races?

I once or twice.

Oh my kind of gal getting out there and hitting
